My problem is that I don't plan to charge anything for the app and want to let users decide whether they want to support its development with a one-time payment or a subscription. But the app itself is completely free. I know from personal experience that I don't like apps behind a paywall, so I don't want to charge anything for it. On the other hand, I think I'll lose money if I don't charge anything and the app potentially becomes popular. What should I do (from my perspective)?
make the app free but lock most of the useful features behind a paywallthen rub your hands together and adjust your kippah
but that's how everyone does it and it sucks. i need an user base first
>>107039213Unless your app solves a really serious issue, that no one does for free, then your revenue will be very small, if any. You could offer the base app for free. Get user base first. And then offer improvements or new (real, useful) features for a one time payment. Kinda like DLC. The app market is fucking fucked, mate.
>>107039213The dream is an app with a perfectly segmented paywall where the core features are free and obscure but useful features are paid. If your app ever gets super popular just add non-obtrusive ads and add a paid option to remove the ads.
I think i'm going with a mixture of >>107039406and >>107039449 I like the idea of having something similar like a DLC, some features could fit into that description. Like small feature upgrades for 1 to 3$.Other than that I also think that having non-obtrusive ads are an option as well. But I will see if it gets popular in the first few subversions and then add the ads.
>>107039737>non-obtrusive adsfuck 'em, go all out. anyone too dumb to block ads deserves to get bombarded by them
>>107039213Hello I'm a poorfag and wanted to join apple, I really like the macboox, but I just found out that power user software costs fucking money, even shit like crossover... like what the hell is this? I think I will stick with troonix for now, hell even open snitch costs money
>>107039776Hi, I can't confirm what you're saying. All apps I have installed on my "macboox" are free. Never paid one app. Crossover? For what?
