There's no terminal open, though it's the same font, a custom build of iosevka. It can be read at surprisingly small sizes due to the silhouetting effect of the serifs.

Honestly, I don't really care about the placebo performance boost. The thing that brings me to it is portage's ability to automatically apply patches to packages. I've written a couple of ebuilds with some patches that override stuff and now I can't live without that feature. My thinkpad has run Gentoo for a while now but this is what lead me to install it on my desktop too.
