I remember when we used to disconnect from the internet every night.
>>
the terminally online unemployed ruined the internet.
Change my mind.

I turn my router off every night. It's probably a chink botnet anyway.

actually not an issue since my Dad was as big of a nerd, if not an even bigger nerd than i am. We had an AT&T satelite with a line just for internet and for him to run his giant at&t unix box on wheels bulletin board system. The satelite dish was ~5ft wide, i dont know much about it desu it was mounted on a pole 100ft from the house. We had a seperate line for the house phone

we were always the core of the internet

>>107045440
phone posters, i.e. normies didn't create the problem, they just aggravated it.

>>107045787
now we're cooking, here's the root of the issue.
browns from the east and "content creators" from eastern europe, hungry for money.

Sometimes my mom was expecting a call from someone she didn't want to talk to so she had us dial up and play games for the rest of the night to get the line busy.
>>
>>107045104
I had two phone lines so it didn't interfere with the main line but internet was billed by the hour in the early days sp couldn't stay on all the time. nor was there any reason to unless you wanted to receive email in your client immediately.

clones were for mom and pop normies. real O/G/s built their own IBM compatibles. I was pulling apart and assembling 386, 486 and pentiums as a kid.
