Installing nvidia on fedora silverblue is impossible so now i have to install a meme distro. Thanks redhat. not.
>>107053204Arch for the win.
Just use regular fedora, it has some of the best handling of the free nvidia driver and never fucks up the packages.I understand the initial install is a bitch but the documentation is concise and less of a cluster fuck vs something like tumblweed
>>107053204Use something that's not a server os, like mac os or windows 10.
>>107053204Just switch over to the nvidia image.https://github.com/ublue-os/hwe/pkgs/container/silverblue-nvidia using rpmostree.
>>107053204is this the power of linuks?
Nvidia could also provide drivers for Linux. Its their hardware after all which they sell. So blaming RedHat is one way, but you could also blame Nvidia or yourself for not buying AMD GPUs if you run Linux.

>>107053204>Installing nvidia on fedora silverblue is impossibleI managed it.

>>107054401Redhat isnt. Its a multibillion dollar corporation.
>>107053448They really didn't
>>107053204you probably have to use rpm fusion
>>107053427Just install nvidia drivers using rpm-ostree it was literally two commands if i remember correctly.
I managed to install them with sb enabled
>>107053204only have yourself to blame for buying meme hardware from literal satanic chinks and jews.
see the silverblue part of this section:https://rpmfusion.org/Configuration#Command_Line_Setup_using_rpmDo whatever this says:https://rpmfusion.org/Howto/NVIDIA?highlight=%28%5CbCategoryHowto%5Cb%29#OSTree_.28Silverblue.2FKinoite.2Fetc.29Most information about rpmfusion should be in the fedora quick docs or the fedora silverblue docs I think, do read them sometime before getting stuck again in the future.
>>107055718Two commands and a restart I believe.
>>107055847I did all that. its okay. I installed bizzard or whatever its called.
>>107053204>silverblue>neither sliver>nor blows>still named silverblueP A T H E T I C
>>107053204you could install ublue, it comes with nvidia drivers preinstalled. Bluefin for a better silverblue experience, Aurora for a better Kinoite experience and Bazzite (GNOME or KDE) for a better gaming experience.
>>107053318Could package the driver like every other distro already does as 74% of users have an nvidia card.>>107053226>>Free nvidia drivers
>>107056309Fedora is retarded like that and I say this as a long time user. They do this for ideological reasons, but newbies don't realize some of the stuff they may need is rpm

>>107056634Yeah but the bulk of the driver is still propietary

>>107053204just install Bazzite, man. No need to lose time on solved things.>meme distroNone of the Universal Blue distros are memes per se. They just save you some troubles like what you're bitching right now.
>>107060454>None of the Universal Blue distros are memes per seUniversal Blue is effectively a Fedora project, so it's not a meme at all. It's similar to how rpmfusion is technically "not Fedora" for legal reasons, but it's really just Fedora's non-free repo.
Why doesn't Fedora just have an option to enable and install ALL the useful proprietary stuff in the installer so everything works out of the box? Stupid fucking freetards
>>107061819afaik it gives you the option to add the repository immediately at first install.
>>107061819>i want a just works and everything setup distro and want to use fedora>but i wont use universal blue which is fedora made to have everything setup and be just workslet me guess you use brave browser
>>107061819it does it by default in their universal blue images
>>107061819https://github.com/ublue-os/hwe/pkgs/container/silverblue-nvidia rebase to this and your problem goes away if you are using an atomic version with gnome. There is also a kde version.
