What dogshit.I bought the affinity suite about a year ago and the more I use it the more I want to tear my hair out. The only reason I use it is because I wanted an alternative that ran well on my laptop. That it does, but it's missing even basic features that open source software covers. Now as a kick in the dick they just put it out for free full of shady nonsense. God knows I don't ever want to deal with Adobe but fuck

Does this have AVIF support? Affinity V2 (the previous major release) had JPEG XL support but not AVIF support.
And they flock like flies.

I bought V1/V2 licenses. Fuck this. Back to GIMP and Krita I guess. The lack of ongoing development kills the entire suite for me.
It was already a mess to get this running on Linux to be quite honest
>>107056559How's Photoshop on Linux these days? Both CS6 and the subscription suite.
People never learn; it is always FOSS or bust.Instead of paying $300 for Photoshop, you could simply send this money to a Krita contributor to make it worth his time to fix your niche issue.
>>107056579I haven't tried running it for a long time.I heard of many scripts out there to get those programs running but the last time I tried (mainly because I wanted Illustrator more than Photoshop) I would always get the program to run once, then crash every time after through Wine.I remember at some point in time I would use it through a virtual machine to overcome some issues. But then certain graphical features weren't available. There is a Photoshop alternative people don't know about that actually runs on Linux, but I got a few crashes with it a while ago: AliveColors. It's not amazing, but I found it more usable than something like GIMP and recently it has gone free for personal use (with the only condition that you sign up to their fucking newsletter).
>>107056633my niche issue is I want enterprise grade software that feels pleasant to use.
>>107056633I don't think $300 can completely overhaul Krita's interface and get rid of qt6 dogshit ugliness overall
>>107056633My niche issue is that I disagree with fundamental design and technical decisions when it comes to Krita, so who's going to take developing a CS6 tier PS and illustrator replacement for $300? Any takers?

The Serif/Affinity Discord server is a sorry state of affairs. There are shills in the server defending the privacy policy and the designer on the software claims that Canva can't view what you are working on.

I've been using Affinity since 2017 and I do have mixed feelings about this. It's good that the base package of Affinity is now free-of-charge for everyone, but you cannot use it without a Canva account (you must be signed in at all times and signing out will close the app) and certain features are locked behind a monthly subscription, turning Affinity into cloud-ified freemium software. It raises questions, how much more of Affinity will be absorbed into the Canva cloud from now on?I've had my doubts towards Canva's acquisition of Serif last year and I've found myself leaning toward Krita, Inkscape and Scribus over time anyway, probably a good thing if Affinity goes past the point of no return.
>>107065721*probably a good thing in case Affinity goes past the point of no return.
They changed the way the brush system works. You can no longer stroke a shape or path with a raster brush. If you want a free vector app with no telemetry just use Inkscape.
