I can't recommend Mint because:1. Right after that statement, their site got hacked so it distributed compromised ISOs. The project kept getting attacked frequently after that too.2. They stopped making LMDE with XFCE, building it with Mate and Cinnamon instead. They also never fully switched to Debian.3. Despite the above they adopted systemd, when it was probably the only project with the means to comfortably make non-systemd forks of Ubuntu or Debian.4. They broke time compatibilty with other distros, even their previous ones.5. It has always been a bloated distro and it seems they will never fix this.I don't know if any of these things have changed for the better now and I don't care. The fact that they happened at all showed the project achieved things in spite of how it was directed, not because of it.
