another bookmark goes deadforever
>>107061622Your fault for not downloading it while you could, we told you for decades
>>107061622what video
>>107061622The user has to set that, you drooling fucktard.
Always did, nothing new
Any time some video, news article, message etc is "bookmark worthy", I will first download that piece of content to my hard drive (take a screenshot, save whole web page, download video etc) and then bookmark it.If something is useful and freely available, I want to own it. I don't trust the internet.
>>107061680the user is part of the internet
>>107061622You forgot to download video and reupload them to YouTube in just to keep the original video from being deleted or privatedSo no surprise here.
not on your hard drive not your video
>>107061622If you think you'll want to revisit something in the future (obviously you did since you bookmarked it), download it. You've been burned by this before, and will continue to forever unless you start downloading shit.Storage if cheap. You have no excuses anymore.
>>107061655People are always whining about "muh archive stupid" and then they get cucked like this. Doesn't even have to be for any real reason. Creator could just decide one day to delete it and you're fucked, had this happen many times actually so now I spam download anything I consider useful or important. I downloaded an entire series of videos that was obviously a university teachers course material for networking and within about a month the entire channel got nuked.
that reminds me it's been a couple years I should play another game of bookmark bingowhich sites will still be alive? Or dead? Or virus links? Or shit I completely forgot about? What videos will be up or deleted or privated? Youtube and porn? Time to find out
You are a fault for not archiving a video before the video from the original author was taken down
>>107061622>nowanon, the internet has sucked for almost 15 years now.
>>107061622the fuck you're talking about? internet hasn't changed in decades, it's still a network of network using protocols from 50 years ago, incredibly reliable and resilient that connect basically everyone who wants to around the planet, there is peta upon peta of available bandwidth and millions of services are running on it generating trillions of revenues.you're most likely only talking about a service that use internet to exist, the web.it's about fucking time we stop mixing the two terms that have absolutely nothing in common, retarded lawmakers are now trying to censor the internet but what they truly wanted was to censor the web, VERY big difference.>inb4 hurr don't ahktually me reeeefucking moron, we can't take you seriously if you don't even know what you're talking about, same as the anti-systemd tards who can't even spell it right (no upper case D, it's a 50yo unix naming convention for daemon you fucking moron so any opinon on systemd is irrelevant until they know how to spell it right first)
>youtube uploader made a video privateHow is this technology?
>>107064092Almost? I'd say it's been closer to 20. Myspace took off in popularity in 2005, youtube launched in the same year. Then Facebook was everywhere in 2006. iPhone in 2007 was pretty much the point of no return. iPhone 4 in 2010 was the double tap.
>>107064110>internetAwfully pedantic and abrasive for someone who spells Internet with a lowercase i.
>>107061655FPBP. My only obstacle is the sites that use autistic German hosts who force you to buy Premium or else download the file at 300 kb/s like the old days.
>>107064174It lost the uppercase privilege due to copyright pederasty.
>>107061622Things like this have always been a thing, actually even more of an issue during the old internet. On another note, 8TB HDDs are going for like $90 now, if you like something back it up.
>>107064152Yeah I thought so too, but I didn't want to sounds as a complete doomer lel There were a few worthwhile things back in the '10s
>>107064353I think the most worthwhile thing is that the 2010s was more or less the golden age of piracy.
>>107061655>>107062240>>107062349>>107063971>>107064009Downloading YouTube video is illegal and you could be charged for a felony
>>107066782>Downloading YouTube video is illegalSo is distributing malware but Apple and Google get away with it as part of their business model.
>>107066782what felony?
>>107066782(You)
>>107066782>be gayYOU ARE HERE>do crime
>>107066782>felonyI'm not American, good luck with that.
>>107064065The last time I looked through vids I had saved to playlists on YouTube was around 2020. A large portion of it was nuked, even though just a few months prior everything was all there. I assume there'll be some change-in-policy bullshit that gets implemented come 2030. (Mein Gott, I can't believe we're halfway through to 2030...)Not bookmarks, but I often come across dead links when reading through tutorials, forum posts, or links I find on the archives. It's a non-issue in most cases since IA saves those pages, but if there's a resource saved on Mega, Mediafire, or anonfiles, there's a chance it's been taken down. In the case of anonfiles, everything's gone. That's only a minor occurrence, and really only happens for minor, trivial things that users share with others within a thread, like wallpapers or a script however.
