why don't mobile apps have this?
>>107061735Are you retarded?
>>107061735They do though?
>>107061735I think you mean Macs
because you would have a hard time clicking on them if they were mobile.
>>107061735Frankly, I don't think desktop apps need them too
>>107061735>minimise home button that puts the app in the background>maximise turning the phone landscape/going from dual window to one app/going from one handed mode to full view>closeswiping away the app in the background
>>107061735>minimize hides windows instead of minimizing them>maximize resizes windows instead of maximizing them>close kills your application instead of closing a windowwhy can't winshit do it right?
>>107061857macs do though
USECASESECASE
>>107062022Use case of using more than one program at a time?
>>107061735Why don't phones have touch pads on the back?
>>107061735That's not really an app function but an OS function. The OS owns the containers in which the apps run. Either way, phones are small enough that it makes more sense to organize the UI around multiple full screens instead of tiling windows... and like others have said, android at least does allow windowing.
>>107061735>open whatsapp>there's a pdf someone send and a message with the page number>open pdf>"switch activity" back to whatsapp to check what page I'm supposed to look at>it sends me back to the pdfIt's like the whatsapp "window" replaced itself with the pdf viewer, despite both showing up distinctly on the "alt tab".
>>107061735>No Uses of buttonshit ui
>>107062547No, the close button just hides the program on the dock and doesn't really close it.
>>107062962>close button on a window closes it>noooo you don't understand it should kill the application!!!!!!111111why are wintards and lintroons so stupid
>>107063054It closes the window, not the application. There is no discernible reason for this as the window represents the application, unless more of its windows are open.
>>107061735apps are run fullscreen
>>107063130>the window represents the applicationit's not, windows and applications are a separate thing, desktop apps are not phone apps (unless you are a webshitter)
>>107063182This has nothing to do with web apps pr phones, stop trying to change the subject. Windows should represent applications graphically in a graphical user environment.
>>107063202>Windows should represent applications graphically in a graphical user environment.it's your baseless opinion. a single application can have unlimited number of windows, the close button should close one window not the entire app.
>>107061735That's what the nav buttons do. You can even open multiple apps at the same time but it's impractical
>>107062022tiling wm supremacy
because phone screens aren't big enough and touching isn't precise enough to warrant having multiple windows open at the same timeeven if you connect bluetooth mouse and keyboard they're still not really usable
>>107063250>it's your baseless opinion. a single application can have unlimited number of windowsThis was already acknowledged, you are arguing in circles.
>>107061735Because you're using an Apple toy
>>107063368It's not very practical though like >>107063348 said but Android has this.
>>107062370He meant the actual icons that you click. Not getting the same function by some other means.I agree with him, I absolutely despise swiping and swooping. I want to click on an X.
>>107063376Tried enabling this but it looks the same?
>>107064753It's only for Freeform windows. Go to where the split-screen option is when you select the app from the switcher and there will be a new Freeform option. It's not terribly practical though.
>>107064935>>107064753I had to enable the Lab setting Multi-Window and then Swipe for PopUp View. It's really cool: I can drag from a corner to put apps into a window. There's even buttons like in the OP. I think there's an option for multiple app instances so I could have a window for each browser tab. Haven't tried that yet though.
