>>107062308https://zutted.comrate the UIhow would you improve it, OP?(static html only, with noscript support)
>>107062308>>107062314>>107062323>>107062333>>107062345I wanted to hate it.
these are UX tips not UI design, and some of them are kinda low hanging fruit but its still sad how many people still don't manage it
>>107062314this one is stupid. only power users that nsiff their own farts use any shortcuts besides copy/paste
>>107062308Those all suck and make the website worse.>add unnecessary noise>but it's needed because timmy will not be able to make an onlyfans accountI hate it
All of these "tips" are fucking awful and do nothing but add bloat and complicate user interfaces. Why would anyone even spend time designing a custom alert box instead of using a confirm() alert that's built into every browser?
Here's a UI tip, stop adding gigantic fucking padding on every goddamn box. I have to browse some sites at 75% zoom just so I can have more than 1 block of information visible at any given time now.
>>107063062are you fking serious? get off my board piece of shit. thats like the lowest hanging fruit you can embrace if you want to be 'technically proficient'
>>107062308No pop-ups, no notifications, no confirmation messages, no alerts, no sounds, no sliding menus, no hover lists, no focus stealing, no animations, no infinite scroll, no overlays, no tiny buttons, no huge buttons, no huge rounded borders, no pointer cursor on anything but buttons, no right click override, no forcing you back to the top of the website to show you some irrelevant crap, no floating header, no floating navbar, no floating aside, no unreadable React/Wordpress/framework shit, no autoplay, no carrousels, no Google/article search on random words, no account registration, no cookie notice, no newsletter subscription, no thank you message, no ad blocker notice, no random irrelevant articles between content sections, no box shadows everywhere
>>107063208>no infinite scrollpeople hate on this till theyre fapping
>>107063188keep sniffin bud
No wonder why everything is so bad if this is considered good advice.I'd start from executing the guy who thought having giant fonts and giant spacing around text is functional and readable. It's not. There's a reason why libraries have large text sections, it's for people with disabilities. Doesn't mean everyone has trouble reading text.
>>107063248You're just a miserable loser. I want websites to be easy to use, not harder.
>>107062308My one tip is this:Look at lots of FOSS - then do the exact opposite.
>>107063208No blank rounded rectangle loading text, no blank loading images, no loading animations, no AI assistant, no assistant at all (just make a FAQ/Help/Documentation page you fucking nigger), no unclickable scroll bars, no infinite URL redirects that don't let you go to the previous page, no page "selections" where there's only < > buttons and a useless .. text between the page you're on and 3 pages after that make you navigate through the URL
>>107063267When was the last time you read a book?
>>107063208>>107063279no walls of text
>>107063292A few months ago.
>>107063245you are a ridiculous person>>107063279>no page "selections" where there's only < > buttons and a useless ..its called, pagination, for your information. i usually just change the number in the url kek when they suck
hope this faggot gets cancer and dies from it. slowly.
>>107062308OK fine.>>107062314No one uses shortcuts. This just makes the UI harder to read.>>107062323No. This is retarded.>>107062333Absolutely not.>>107062345Yeah OK fine, but these icons should look more like buttons.
>>107062308fuck icons, there is no standard way to recognize it because every menu is different, retarded and bloat, home should be at the top left, the name of the website
>>107062308Is UI/UX /g/ or /gd/ bros?
Web apps still don't even have UIs as functional and responsive as Windows 95. It's been 30 years since the invention of the web browser and javascript, we've made many orders of magnitude gains in CPUs and GPUs since then, and yet they still can't even compete with UIs that were designed to run on 66MHz 486's with 4MB of ram.
>>107063417/gd/ usually creates the fucked up problems in the first place./g/ makes it ugly but functional. need a middle ground ideally.
>>107062323The correct for this is one is simply "Cancel", "Delete", you dont need the yes no bs
>>107063428Yeah I love UX but I don't know where to discuss it, lately I've been trying to find out who made the tachiyomi/mihon ux, I think it's one of the best I've seen for an app so far
nice reddit thread you faggot
>>107063467yeah its like a puzzle trying to find the perfect fit for everything. are you OCD?
>>107063433no the correct modern way is to have them say "got it!" or "no way!"
>>107063427Back then GUIs were all the rage so some seriously smart people worked with and that's what made Windows so great. Now all the smart people are working on AI models and that leaves only the retarded webslop react devs to work on GUI stuff.
>>107063576No
>>107063589Ugh, I hate zoomers but you are right, fucking cockroaches and their nigger speak
>>107063599Never forget and never forgive the nigger dev responsible for windows start menu to be webtech slow shit react native literally said that was because "that's all he knows" and "performance is not a concern"
>>107063427Win95 UI was designed to run on low end hardware though. One of the original designers used to have a blog where he detailed so many interesting details on 90s Microsoft development. Like, they did not put the second counter on the clock because it would have to update the UI stack so often that it would ruin benchmark numbers.
Tip 1:Use square corners
>>107062323>>107062345Hey asshole. How about using a pinch of contrast in your UI.Not everyone has their monitor cranked to 1000000 nits of brightness with 100% contrast. Some users are on their phones and - gasp - outside in the sunlight and glare.Gray on gray should be punishable by hanging in a moderately lit gray room with a gray floor and gray rope by a hangman wearing a gray robe with a gray hood.
>>107062323>>107064327Here, I marked the areas that are a problem.
Tip 2:Don't rely on colors to signal anything. Use border styles to distinguish active items.
>>107063267You can have ease of use without treating the user like a child with down syndrome.> <div class="__PostBox-f3ov4J"> <div class="__SubmitButtonContents-6q44KM pajeetjs-tooltip-watcher" pajeetjs-tip="Publish to My Story!"> <button onclick="$PajeetJS.MyApp().PostForm[0].SubmitAjax(this);" class="__SubmitMessage-5IkA98"> <span class="__CommonLabelAlt-9g6JX1"> Yes, post! <i class="fa-publish"></i> </span> </button> </div> </div>Or doing this shit
>>107064576why does he hate minification, chat?
>>107063323exactly
>>107064417Good tip.
>>107062345The left one is better.
>>107062323>Yes, do as I say!
>>107062308How does addition of an icon help? You still have to read the button text. It is even more egregious when paper shufflers add emojis in front of every title even if it is not actually related. WHY??
