Surely Google is committing a crime by making their websites work better on their browser? Antitrust and shit like that
Works better when this is toggled off in about:config maybe.media.av1.enabled
media.av1.enabled
>>107073257it seriously is getting to a point where i'm going to have to either quit using firefox or quit using youtube. i only get massive memory leaks and CPU usage when as few as one youtube tab is open
It functions like shit on all browsers, it progressively eat up memory the longer you have a tab open.
Here are some workarounds: - Enable Hardware Acceleration: In Firefox settings, ensure hardware acceleration is turned on. This can improve video playback significantly.- Use Extensions: Add-ons like “Enhancer for YouTube” allow users to force higher video quality or tweak playback settings.- Try User Agent Spoofing: Extensions like “User-Agent Switcher” can trick YouTube into treating Firefox like Chrome.- Keep Firefox Updated: Mozilla regularly improves codec support and performance tuning. If you’re a Firefox loyalist, these tweaks can help bridge the gap. But if seamless YouTube playback is a priority, Chrome might still have the edge—at least for now. Want help optimizing your Firefox setup for YouTube? I can walk you through it.
>>107073257Every website performs worse on Firefox than on Chrome.
>>107073257>Antitrust and shit like thatThe rule of law has been suspended since January 20th 2025.
>>107074050>- Use Extensions: Add-ons like “Enhancer for YouTube” allow users to force higher video quality or tweak playback settings.YouTube's anti-adblock garbage fucks it up hard, especially on Firefox where it's mo longer being updated.
>>107073257Works the same for me in both browsers.Try these:media.av1.enableddom.media.webcodecs.h265.enabled
stop using web browsers for youtube
It's been working pretty bad for me on MS edge as well. It's like they sabotage the site if you use it with UBO enabled. Works fine with adblocker disabled though
>>107074050>Try User Agent SpoofingI like this one, but I think this doesn't work anymore + it makes many websites think you are a bot. I think google services can exclusively talk to google chrome with an unique identifier, because even other chromium based browsers are worse on youtube now.
>>107074050>AI slop>outright misinformation or "fixes" that haven't worked in years.>People actually think this shit is useful for anything other than generating bad erotica.
>>107073914>Using Windows...That's your problem.
>>107074050ChatGPT wrote this...>Here are some workarounds. In list form.
>>107073257because Firefox is slower than Chrome. it's an unavoidable fact. That's why I still keep at least one Chromium browser installed.
>>107073587vp9 works like shit too only avc works well
>>107073257it's so bad on firefox now that google is throttling adblockers
>>107076814>>107073587>media.av1.enabledi am tech illiterate. what does this do?
>>107077657yep, they're doing it on purpose. they used to show the "experiencing interruptions" shit on and off but once youtube changed their UI (which is terrible now) it's a permanent thing on every video for firefox users
>>107079613Don't do this. It makes mustard gas.
>>107079626see you on the other side, brother
>>107074759>thinking that rule of law didn't die before Trump

>>107079708EPIC!
>>107073257>antitrust>googlethey literally can't lose. they are the monopoly and that controls the people that say they aren't allowed to be a monopoly
>>107079711freetube is electron web browsernot a problem with my youtube client
>>107073257After it broke the ability to view videos in an isolated /embed/ tab I started using youtube-local. It uses a different player so it might have better performance for you, I don't know. I also expect it to probably start getting hit with functionality-breaking updates because youtube somehow gives a shit about the 0.005% of people who don't watch their adriddled garbage.Anyway, personally I didn't have issues with playback unless I was watching a livestream or if I was jumping around a lot at high (1080+) resolutions.
>>107073257All google services work worse, not just youtube. Try maps with the 3D globe view, it stutters and lags on Firefox compared to Chromium based browsers.
>>107074050>User name is literally Microsoft Copilot
>>107073257What you gon do about it, famalama? Complain to your senator that probably gets kickbacks aka (((financial support))) from Google? LMAO!
>>107080465Tranny client?
>>107073257There's dozens of reasons and basically none of them matter. To setup firefox you need to be debloating it with a user.js file, Have minimal extensions, and then be running it on a decent CPU. My core 2 laptop runs firefox like shit no matter what I do, my 10900k I can't even see the difference between the latest chromium build and FF they're identical and I've never had this kind of a memory leak before >>107073914If you can't manage to get FF to work for you on your hardware just use ungoogled chromium. Your PC is either too shit or you don't have a clue what you're doing I guess, I don't really know what to tell you, firefox is ultimately a bloated cobbled together piece of shit with major feature creep adding to the bloat, it's only going to get worse here as time goes on so if it's bad for you now, it's gonna be really bad in a couple more years.
>>107073257In my firefox youtube work good
