Thinking about getting a new phone and down to probably two options:

Minimal Phone MP01
>looks great
>fuck expensive, $399
>kinda big, 5.59" x 3.07"
>not actually eInk, just a cheaper, shittier version
>camera and flashlight
>headphone jack, bluetooth
>may need 2FA/clock-in apps for new job
>can double as e-reader
>MOTHER. FUCKING. PHYSICAL KEYBOARD.

Light Phone II
>looks great
>still pretty expensive, $299
>kinda small, 3.75" x 2.20"
>actual eInk
>no camera or flashlight
>headphone jack, bluetooth
>can't do apps if job needs them
>customizable yet limited tools (this is a positive)
>kinda wondering how typing is going to go on it, looks ok from pictures

Any thoughts or opinions?

For the billiona of apps and experts in coding etc etc the one seemingly simple, straightforward, fundamental, basic thing youd expect to exist but doesnt is a workable email app that lets you be logged into multiple email accounts and get immediate notifications.
Thunderbird is 90% perfect but only lets you sync as often as 15 minutes and then keeps doing other dumb shit like auto sorting drafts, sent, spam, trash etc under a "[Gmail]" folder unnecessarily and you cant change it.
The ONLY app out there that will give you somewhat timely notifications for received smail is Nine Mail but its otherwise kind of trash.

I just dont understand how this is so hard to the point that there isnt a single good mail app, NOT ONE.

They're dogshit, all new feature phones are dogshit, which is a shame.

Better off getting an old blackberry or nokia and tinkering around with it if you want something minimal.

>iPhone air reporting in
I was pretty skeptical coming to this phone from a 12,especially seeing the battery announced alongside it and the one camera/speaker. Lately I have also been considering going to a dumb phone or to a 13 mini for a while. Once I went and saw it in person I was like this is some real steve jobs shit nigga and honestly I have liked it more ever since I bought it.

Poorfag looking to buy a Motorola Edge 60 Fusion for the equivalent of 235$ (I haven't found any better alternatives in the 200-250$ price range) but I noticed this shit doesn't come with a charger. Is it fine if I use my old 2019 adapter for it? It's rated 9 V-1.67 A / 5 V-2 A.
>>
>>107079976
>68W wired
Your charger is 4x weaker than what Moto E60F needs. It's going to work but it'll be very slow.
>>
>>107079997
Whelp, guess I'll buy a new charger. Since when did producers start doing this shit where they don't include a charger?
>>
>>107080014
Apple started the trend with iPhone 12 in 2020 as a cost saving measure masked as a way to "reduce the price to the end consumers" and "reduce the pollution".
Some manufacturers still ship with chargers, but it's mainly just Chinese brands that do.
>>
>>107080030
I don't know much about phones but there's no way the average person fell for this. The charger has to be like 1/20th the price of your average iPhone. It's a hassle for the consumer more than anything.

Got the iphone 17 Pro a week ago. I was skeptical it could be much better than my base S25, but in some areas the difference is huge. The cameras on the 17 Pro are insane, especially the telephoto, this is genuinely DSLR level quality from a phone, compared to the S25 which has a really underwhelming telephoto camera.
The speakers kinda blew me away, I don't use headphones at home and the iPhone sounds almost like a proper speaker and not a phone, you can actually hear the bass and clear lows and highs.
The rest of the phone is mostly on par with the S25, the iPhone is a lot heavier, iOS is a bit worse but faceID is super comfy and you don't get spied on nearly as much on the iPhone as on android. Pic not mine, I'm too lazy to get up and take a photo. I think I'm gonna keep the iPhone.

>hate how every phone came with this stupid huge camera bump
There's literally just a couple dozen phones with this shit. Nobody is forcing you to get a Pixel or iPhone.
>i want a decent camera because i want to start collecting my travels into an album i can look later in my life.
Then get a dedicated camera. Even the iPhone 17 models have a visibly worse image quality than proper cameras which cost half as much as the phone.

>>107080147
>you don't get spied on nearly as much on the iPhone as on android
That's partially true, but both are still spying on you and not doing a good job at preventing apps from spying on you. If you really want privacy and security on a smartphone then the only real option is GrapheneOS.

because 100% of 70% is less than 90% of 90%. now, Im not saying the difference is wear is that significant the first ~2 years, but battery wear is non-linear and falls of a cliff after around 80%. you just extend the usable duration of the device by limiting the charge

Some kind of chemistry and science that battery "bottom ending" at 100% and keeping the cable on (because you can't be there to unplug it right when it hit 99) it's worse for the battery to "overcharge" and push it somehow..

They definitely need to redesign some things and I agree the new icons and control center are hideous. That being said I still couldn’t switch just because of that. The experience is too good and obviously they gonna change stuff again soon with how many people are complaining. They already added the tint option for the next update which is a huge step in the right direction once it spreads to the rest of the UI

I have a Zenphone 11Ultra and it has more than enough of anything I need. Unlimited space for apps, good speed and all the nice things, perfect camera.
It has the option to charge unrestricted, at 80% or 90% at its battery health settings.
I'd like to avoid paying over 500 for a phone as long as possible.

There was a link that listed apps that work with yellow (custom OS locked bootloader) and red (unlocked bootloader) Play Integrity status. Green status being a locked bootloader plus a Google certified OS. But I lost the link.

Pokémon Go is said by a list to need it (at least the Play Store version). So I imagine the gay trading card game would need it too, or you could theoretically mess with IAPs or cheat.

They're more comfortable to hold though? I won't be returning my Air. Makes a normal phone feel like an unwieldy brick. Phones will get thinner with better battery tech and maybe then you can hold the future in your hands while still getting 12 hours of Screen on Time gooning to pictures of feet.

It's not. It's a large phone. Thickness is almost irrelevant for people who want small phones. If anything a thicker phone can result in having a better grip. The whole point of small phones is not just "it takes up less space in my pocket" but also the overall ergonomics with single hand use. Unihertz Jelly Max is considered a small phone despite being 3x thicker than iPhone Air.

Just tried it again with aurora and seems to be working again huh.
No idea what the issue was.

Anyways, if I have this problem again, what is an alternative way to bypass it?

Went to a carrier store and someone had utterly destroyed their Z Fold 7 display model's inside screen simply by trying to lift it while it was unfolded and attached to their security mechanism.
I'm an ex-folding phone user, formerly had the Z Flip 5 and the mandatory screen protector needed to be replaced because it was lifting up (necessitating it be sent away because no local Samsung stores). This was right before the warranty expired so I got rid of it.

Ordered new cases for my 16 Pro max! Mainly due to the flat design the phone has. I want the iPhone 11 feel back. The transparent one I can see is fully rounded. Other one I think is but not 100% sure. Going back to the iPhone 4 design is the worst thing apple ever did. People who think flat sides are comfortable are literally sick in the head

I currently have an iPhone 16 Pro, but I want to move to something with more control and less Apple.
A friend of mine has a Fairphone 3 and I was able to use it a bit and while it is slow and the camera it is trash, it is usable for everyday stuff.
Now I googled around a bit and Graphene OS dev says that Fairphone is bad with security updates and for now they only support Google Pixel phones.
So now my real question is, is Graphene OS really as good and are there good alternatives or is it GOATed?
And second question is, what phone would make more sense, Pixel 8 Pro, Pixel 9 or Fairphone 6, they all cost around 550€ where I live?

Do not get the fairphone. Volume buttons break off so easily and they do not sell replacement buttons. Literally worst of the worst. You wont get a better phone than the 16 Pro. But go right ahead. You have been warned

>it is usable for everyday stuff.
A fairphone is usable as a paperweight
>>
>>107096004
>is Graphene OS really as good
Yes. It's pretty much the only secure and private smartphone OS.
>what phone would make more sense, Pixel 8 Pro, Pixel 9 or Fairphone 6
The Fairphone only makes sense if you break your phones often and want to repair your devices yourself. If you're going to use a case and a screen protector and you rarely damage your phones then it doesn't really make sense to go for a Fairphone. Fairphones are overpriced because they avoid unfair or slave labor, unlike other phones. And they fell for the recycling meme which drives up the prices for no reason.
I'd go for Pixel 9 simply because it's smaller, newer and has a more efficient processor. Pixel 8 Pro apparently has a slightly better camera and faster charging, but it has a slightly worse battery life.

>>107096115
Are you talking about the FP6? I have a FP3 and it doesn't have any issues other than a shit CPU/GPU.
>>
>>107096115
You're right, thanks, I guess that removes the Fairphone from the list, so it is a sham with that fair and repairable stuff. That leaves the Pixel phones as options, or something completely different.
