>works just fine on windows>switch to linux>attempt to run 5 and 10 year old vidya>shits the bed, refuses to launch, launches slow as shit and stutters>switch to modern amd card>instantaneously, everything works across both operating systemsWhy is this company worth 5 goddamn trillion dollars when the OS that runs 90% of headless servers has the worst driver support?
NVIDIA doesn't like Free software, use ATI.
you are running unsupported software through layers of emulation crap. it has nothing to do with "drivers"blame khronos for their stubborness and refusal to copy d3d12 design. vulkan is just fundamentally bad and incompatible with the most popular graphics api.
>use web server/PHP OS>"hurr why it can gayme"idk why you weren't aborted as a child
>>107077846The reason AMD works so much better out of the box on Linux is their support for open source. Meanwhile Nvidia clings tightly to all proprietary development. Meaning you have to use their tech the way they want you to.
>>107077846Yeah nvidia just doesn't have competent coders, it sucks but what can you do..
>>107077846What games? I haven't really had any issues with either AMD or Nvidia drivers on linux.
>>107077846>windows works>linux doesn't GPU isn't the issue
>>107077846from my experience, you can get the proprietary nvidia drivers to play nice on linux (X11) with some tinkering, for most games at least. my main problem is that as soon as the gpu starts to throttle it completely fumbles and starts to cause massive fps drop to the point that the game is unplayable and it stays that way until i close the game and lets the gpu cool down again. also the fan curve seems to be pretty irregular sometimes
>>107077846>>107079715>x11>manual driver installs>screechingOp you could have just installed bazzite it would take 2 minutes would require no setup and give you a just works os setup with hardware with codecs with drivers and with steam and wine specifically setup for gaming. But you have to tinker after all youre unemployed.
>>107077846I used an RTX 3070 from launch until a few months ago and the only time I had issues was due to booting kde with Wayland by mistake
>>107077846Install the fucking driver.I have been using NVIDIA for 6 years on Fedora. Hardly ever had an issue, mostly wayland related and that has been over for more than a year now. Unless some sort of new bug appears which are not that common either.Unless you show an specific bug, you're lying. And I don't play STEAM games, but get mine from GOG.AMD gives a driver ootb but does not mean it is reliable either. And most AMD software stack is shit (AMF, ROCM, HIP).
>>107077846enjoy your 2 years of support
>>107078214>works perfectly with amd>doesn't work with Nvidia>nothing to do with driversWhat kind of retarded cope is this
>>107077846It also makes it so you are unable to use the lock screen.
Why are you using an OS that runs servers for gaming? Do you also use a shovel for draining a pool?
>>107080819it's just a happy accident that whatever hacks they used to implement a translation layer are favor amd hardware.again, the problem is translation layer software.
