What are you smoking? Memory prices for UDIMMs DDR4 and DDR5 are cheap as hell.
DDR4 prices are going back-up because mainstream production has ceased as production shifts to DDR5 and soon DDR6 when it comes out. UDIMM are only expensives when a new generation is on the market and there's not much supply of it and DRAM manufacturers are trying to recoup the R&D costs.

I use 32gb of DDR4 RAM still. I just don't see any point in upgrading anything in my system. New gaymes suck bad and even with the best hardware are unoptimized vibe coded slop. I can run LLMs with my GPU if I wanted, but again AI is useless slop unless you're getting paid to vibecode. Just appeciate what you have and software that was made from a time when humans were forced to optimize things instead of expecting you to soend thousands on the latest hardware everytime a new gayme releases.

Not worth the effort IMO. I'm big on overclocking most things but DRAM is genuinely an awful process all around. I would unironically have your reset CMOS mobo header connected to your case's reset switch and get used to backing up your bios configs. DDR5 in particular is just a rats nest once you get past the most basic primary timings. Once you get into the weeds with stuff like tertiary timings you start needing to (genuinely) run overnight memtest86 passes because you'll be using a tune just fine for a couple days and then all the sudden, whoopsie looks like its time to uncorrupt windows again with powershell! If you're using linux+ext4 though I've found it doesn't shit itself nearly as fast under unstable memory configs likely due to its journaling features.
If you really want to actually fuck with it though I highly recommend also setting all of your ram and memory controller related settings to where there is zero power saving/california-shit going on and plug up your extra EPS cpu slot if you have one.
Also, I highly recommend figuring out what your maximum infinity fabric speed is before going past JEDEC default or a little past because it has about the same surprise attack capability of a cosmic ray due to its supposed internal error correction or whatever. You will get a ram overclock really stable and then all the sudden you get corruption again and the only thing I've been able to finally narrow it down to I think is the fucking infinity fabric clock (FCLK).

TLDR just shell out for the faster kit if you really want it though you probably don't need it realistically.

Try to run couple VMs just for education purposes and see what left.

Seems legit

Either the AI bubble burst or chink flood the NAND market. Otherwise, I can't see any possibility for it to go down at this point

A related issue is that searching for RAM is made to be a fucking nightmare because of sellers on eBay, etc. being unable to tag there shit correctly.

Here's a challenge, to illustrate; imagine you own a server motherboard that can take up to 256GB of DDR4, but the CPU only supports RDIMMs not LRDIMMs (ie. it requires you to source 4x 64GB sticks, and those DIMMs must be 2Rx4).
Now, try and find some that cost less than 800 USD.

even billionaires have to keep "working" or else their money depreciates. this is a ratrace to the bottom.
we need
1) USD backed by physical gold
and, just as importend
2) make it illegal for "money to make money"

and what I mean by 2) is, no one should ever be able to multiply his wealth just by moving around his capital into assets that don't exist. EVERYONE needs to be held accountable for their actions. only a) providing a service or b) providing a product should be able to generate money.

and you can achieve 2) by just taxing all digital stock market exchanges by 90%
this will incentify the acquisition of stocks via physical gold

this concept is what china has been hoping for, since 2016, which is why they went all in and bought TONS of physical gold.
>>
>>107089678
no they don't really want that.
its just the fact that all US bilionaires went all-in on digital stocks, rather than pure gold, like china.
so now they have to stick with their shitty decision, because fort knox is empty, and most gold is owned by israel and china, so even if they wanted to switch to physical gold now, they cannot.

the stock market right now isn't generating anything for these bilionaires. they're just moving their assets around. the only reason numbers go up, is because of inflation.

basically, they'll shuffle around their digital assets until this ratrace collapses, at which point they're gonna go on a loong holiday inside their bunkers.
>>

yeah, yeah
i understand it's better to be useful and "hard" than not, but i don't buy that
there be elites & glowies & pschoanalysts etc, since 1920

do they?
i thought their wealth was almost all in assets, not in cash lol
their work, if anything, is torturing the working class & making them more "insecure" and competitive, alan greenspan has said as much

I'm kind of fond of this thread. Don't let it die.

there's something to be said for all of that, and clearly the big economy (as oppose to a society) we live in right now doesn't serve the interests of the majority of people

i think this is oversimplified

they have been doing this since the Thailand floods like a decade ago

Open markets don't "cause" inflation, they allow for a more accurate price discovery for the dollar and expose all of the currency dilution that the Fed has been
>>
>>107094846
When you have an overseas actor with a monopoly, they can jack up the price as much as they want.
If you have an overseas financial actor, they can make arbitrage profit off of hyperinflation in a foreign state.
And when your military doctrine is basically entwined with economics, you get the current situation as a part of a national strategy.

Companies and the people making the decisions in them to outsource things are traitors to the state and should be gassed.

there isn't a single usecase where you need more than 16gb

No, you are not running a home server or enterprise applications, stop larping
>>
>>107097292
its not related to tariffs
the supply was simply bought out by AI and since the ram manufacturers are fully booked they started increasing prices and the companies assembling desktop pc ram sticks pass the costs to end user

So he probably has to wait even longer considering the AI bubble probably won't pop until long after Trump era then kek
