I use 32gb of DDR4 RAM still. I just don't see any point in upgrading anything in my system. New gaymes suck bad and even with the best hardware are unoptimized vibe coded slop. I can run LLMs with my GPU if I wanted, but again AI is useless slop unless you're getting paid to vibecode. Just appeciate what you have and software that was made from a time when humans were forced to optimize things instead of expecting you to soend thousands on the latest hardware everytime a new gayme releases.

>>107078784nah i'm good
>>107083027Not worth the effort IMO. I'm big on overclocking most things but DRAM is genuinely an awful process all around. I would unironically have your reset CMOS mobo header connected to your case's reset switch and get used to backing up your bios configs. DDR5 in particular is just a rats nest once you get past the most basic primary timings. Once you get into the weeds with stuff like tertiary timings you start needing to (genuinely) run overnight memtest86 passes because you'll be using a tune just fine for a couple days and then all the sudden, whoopsie looks like its time to uncorrupt windows again with powershell! If you're using linux+ext4 though I've found it doesn't shit itself nearly as fast under unstable memory configs likely due to its journaling features. If you really want to actually fuck with it though I highly recommend also setting all of your ram and memory controller related settings to where there is zero power saving/california-shit going on and plug up your extra EPS cpu slot if you have one. Also, I highly recommend figuring out what your maximum infinity fabric speed is before going past JEDEC default or a little past because it has about the same surprise attack capability of a cosmic ray due to its supposed internal error correction or whatever. You will get a ram overclock really stable and then all the sudden you get corruption again and the only thing I've been able to finally narrow it down to I think is the fucking infinity fabric clock (FCLK).TLDR just shell out for the faster kit if you really want it though you probably don't need it realistically.

A related issue is that searching for RAM is made to be a fucking nightmare because of sellers on eBay, etc. being unable to tag there shit correctly. Here's a challenge, to illustrate; imagine you own a server motherboard that can take up to 256GB of DDR4, but the CPU only supports RDIMMs not LRDIMMs (ie. it requires you to source 4x 64GB sticks, and those DIMMs must be 2Rx4).Now, try and find some that cost less than 800 USD.

I tried telling my friend to hurry up and build his gaming PC before the tariffs kicked in, last year but he wouldnt listen. Kept putting it off and now he probably won't be able to actually make one until Trump leaves office in 3 yrs kek
>>107094925They don't make the NAND, it's all Korea
there isn't a single usecase where you need more than 16gbNo, you are not running a home server or enterprise applications, stop larping
>>107097292its not related to tariffsthe supply was simply bought out by AI and since the ram manufacturers are fully booked they started increasing prices and the companies assembling desktop pc ram sticks pass the costs to end user
>>107097839So he probably has to wait even longer considering the AI bubble probably won't pop until long after Trump era then kek
>>107097849theres gonna be lag where they ramp up productionthe AI demand wont be stable forever after the building of new mega datacenters stops and then when demand abruptly goes down the cartel starts winding down production to avoid oversupply
>>107095296>pwease mr trump can we start investing in our own chip manufacturing>"best i can do is a party and white house demolition"
>>107097839It is?Trump bought Nvidia; the then-only easy option for AI.By doing so they scared China since they don't want to rely on the spastic trumpster fire fucking them over.
i have 16gb ddr4i've ben planning to upgrade to 32gb for a whileshould i get 18gb ddr4 and bite the price or go for another 16gb ddr4
>>107098322*16gb ddr5
>>107078011> Jew run AI company is gobbling up components left right center, leaving none for the GoyimYou will witness computers go backwards in pricing in the next five years. Ironic
This might be the first time in my life I regret waiting to upgrade. That's almost always the safest bet, but now things are getting more expensive over time, not less. Even the used market of old products are going above their initial 100%. Crazy.
>>1070991765 years ago it was the sameif you saw a good priced part you should buy it asap because theres zero guarantee prices wont go up later
>blame Trump>ram prices are high in Europe alsoAre people this low IQ?
>>107078011Get your ram on ebay, used. Not even joking. Ram is very reliable, rarely anything wrong with it.
words cannot describe how delightful it is watching americans bend themselves into a pretzel to try and paint this as someone else's fault.literal popcorn-ass material right here. decades of having to deal with you obnoxious assholes makes for the perfect seasoning.
>>107099624holy fucking obsessed batman
>>107078011>bought 96gb of ram for 369$A>now it sells for 629$AGood timing I suppose.

>>107084182>real conservative hasn't been tried>>107095629Micron's Idaho facility is R&D only. Generates zero revenue. They have a production plant in Virginia though.
>>107094925>Bullshit, it's fucking Taiwan and China starving out the west in order to destroy it.>TaiwanTaiwan fucking hates China, and relies on it's business relations with the rest of the world to keep them safe from the Chinks. Also, most NAND for Ram is manufactured in Japan (Kioxia) and Korea (Samsung).
>>107078011>selling sticks of ram for $100these servers aint gonna RAM themselves
>>107078204>he thinks dykeron doesn't have china factories

>my PC is dying>to buy a good one will cost between 3k and 4kfuck me i wish for AI slop to die already because i am tired
>>107095327US chip makers have now invested more than a trillion into the chip industry, after chips acts was axed. Apple is finally making their chips in the US. Samsung/TSMC/others are investing hundreds of billions into chip factories. All with customers lined up, factories being built as we speak, and not just random announcements.
>DDR4 still cheap as fuckI'm never going to get a price close to retail for my shitty 16GB 3200 CL18 kit will I?
>>107103413>he still thinks prices will fall>just wait until the ETH mining boom is over>just wait until corona stops fucking with supply chains>just wait until the AI bubble burstsPrices are the lowest they are ever going to be from here on out. We told you this back when you were still coping about ETH miners eventually fucking off too.

>>107096889>laptop DRAMYou just bought the type of memory aislop isn't seeking.
>>107078011What about DDR3? That's what my PC uses.
>>107103753>what about ewasteDon't worry, the price of that is going up too, and not just because it's obsolete and no longer being manufactured.
>>107087631 Why would you need 64g for image generation? Even flux does not eat up that much
>>107103492 It isnt doe, ddr4 is 150% more expensive compared to several months ago
>>107095007This doesnt work anymore, the average American consumer does not matter anymore (economically speaking), the only people that matter are all the fuckers with the cash and capital to keep this bubble inflated in the seperate fake economy that somehow counts over the real one.
