Can technology give eternal life? I am 37 years old and very worried about dying
maybe something like mind uploading but we're still quite far from achieving that. A lame alternative could involve training an AI model to replicate your thoughts, biases, and ways of thinking. This model could pretend being you you after you dead but you'd still be dead.our current technology isn't advanced enough for an AI to adapt or improve itself over time. in summary your best option might be to freeze yourself and hope that by the time humans figure out how to achieve eternal life, you won't end up discarded.
>>107080035We will soon be able to transfer all of the "data" of our brains onto physical drives. Then we just need 1min of you talking and put your copied "brain" into a LLM and people can talk to you forever!Or... we will take your DNA, raise a clone of you and get neuralink with your brain data and you will live on! Sadly both options won't be you, YOU, but for others it will be you!We have to keep your brain young! So just keep on living, you will be 60, when the eternal youth pill makes it into the mainstream! Or a combination of both an android body + your physical brain...
>>107080035even if there was a technology like that, it would malfunction sooner or later and you'd die anyway. just get over it.

I really don't want to die. Man, life is so tragic. Most people manage not to think about it too much
>>107080035red in picrel are all humans that have ever lived, and died. all of them died. high chances all of us will, just the same as them. just enjoy whatever you can get and be happy with it

How long could ye bear to look without Time’s lens on the greatness of your own soul and the eternal reality of her choice?
>>107080110> Sadly both options won't be you, YOU, but for others it will be you!this mf knows stuff, any type of mind uploading or cloning would keep alive another exact same version of you but it wont be you. as anon said basically it will give the illusion of immortality but the you writing this will dieNow, there’s no such a thing of dying of old age. Humans die because a relevant component on their body stopped working as it should.
>>107081059I can imagine this working like that:>they put you under>they transfer your consciousness to another vessel>at the exact same moment they obliterate your old body in a split second>you wake up in a new bodyFrom your standpoint, it's just like having a surgery under general anesthesia. Your old body doesn't exist, but you (as in your consciousness) still do, and even maintain near perfect time continuity. Yeah, sure, you could argue Ship of Theseus and all, but imo this is as good as you can expect it to be. Even after a regular transplant you don't wake up whole, so it's about where you draw the line, if at all.
put your brain into a cyberbot.
>>107081167this is what trepanning does btw
"mind uploading" is very scary if you lose control of who does what to your mind for all eternity
>>107080035If we could solve mortality, we would, undoubtedly. As your DNA gradually accumulates permanent damage, you age and eventually die. There is Christ for the salvation of your soul, but the prison of flesh we are each bound to is doomed one way or another.

>>107080035With current medical interventions and a good amount of cash you can get to 100. Beyond that it's starting to get very difficult without more out-there treatments.
>>107081535The soul doesn't exist. And dna has backup copies, our bodies were just not made to reactivate them efficiently.
The thought has been creeping ip on me now that im 36 I hope i dont become a bug
>>107081132> they transfer your consciousness to another vesselthats the thing, what we percebe as consciousness is just an illusion of various systems in our brain working together as a whole. think of them like simple ai models in charge of basic tasks each one. > theres a system making our body take physical actions instinctively> the reflexive system can evaluate situations and planning> and theres a system that its whole purpose is to come up with a logic explanations/excuses for the actions made by the first systemyep we don’t really control our actions, its the environment that triggers a whole chain of process in our brain and later the brain try to create a narrative that make sense for the way we act>>107081475> "mind uploading" is very scaryindeed, I wouldn’t trust a big corp in case they start offering such a service>>107081535i hate when someone throw a fact then randomly starts bragging about being brainwashed
>>107080035Facebook Inc shall create you a memoriam page, for all eternity. Only $14.98 per month, irrevocably billed to your offspring
>>107081475mind uploading to what? I'd rather upload it into a proper robo-body and like fuck around as always. miss me with that "into the cloud" bullshit that's for retards
>>107081132the magic happens at copying time. that's when you either split either move. if there's only one way forward for you, then you will 100% experience that one, say the new "body", doubt it'll be something biological but whatever.if the old you isn't terminated then whatever you experience next is in some sort of aparent superposition, you have 50/50 of continuing in your old body or moving in the new one, "from your perspective". everybody else gonna see you fork and there'll be two of you if old instance is not terminated.it's not really intuitive, some people will chimp out at the idea, but on their death beds most will probably gamble it because they're dying anyway so whatever lolif...if it's possible/doable.
