For some use cases, change can be bad. Like servers and autistic users.

Use flatpaks if you need an newer version of something. Why does Debian filter plebs so hard?

I have never once had a problem with "outdated" packages on stable.

I like to use things that work today and that'll work tomorrow

I did during the whole clusterfuck that was the transition from python 2 to 3. I've had a few scenarios where we had to install newer versions of java on production systems running debian. CentOS or RHEL would have been even worse in that case. Both of those were years ago. The main pain point for desktop use is not having the latest desktop environment versions, and missing out on a few features because of that, but you can generally find backports for that stuff.

I'll take that minor inconvenience over corrupting my entire install because arch decided to eat itself for the third time this month. I also don't have to babysit debian's kernel version, so ZFS just works. Meanwhile on arch and fedora I was constantly fighting shit like that.

This is why my hosts all run on proxmox and the vms all on debian kek
