Can someone explain why windows 10 downloads 40+ gigs of bullshit at 3 am every night I leave it connected to the internet? And is there any way to stop it besides just staying offline at night?
>>107081957>Can someone explain why windows 10 downloads 40+ gigs of bullshit at 3 am every night I leave it connected to the internet?Microsoft has to use all that data to phone home and spy on you. Just don’t worry about it >And is there any way to stop it besides just staying offline at night? No
>>107081957How the fuck would we know, if you don't sort the files by size?
>>107081957there is no clear indication of source on said filestry applying the same process only with operations on windows components selected within bleachbit and compare results
>>107081957install gentoo
>>107081957>use laptop maybe once every two weeks or so> EVERY SINGLE TIME I boot it up I'm forced to download 50GB of updates and reboot (which takes an additional 20 minutes)

>>107082192I'm on Debian Stable on my desktop, my laptop has poor Linux support though.

>>107081957>Can someone explain why windows 10 downloads 40+ gigs of bullshit at 3 am every night I leave it connected to the internet?Have you not heard of Telemetry?>And is there any way to stop it besides just staying offline at night?Disable the "Connected User Experiences and Telemetry" service. It's under the heading named 'Disable "Connected User Experiences and Telemetry" Service' of this website:http://allthings.how/fix-100-high-disk-usage-windows-10You should probably consider doing all the other disk usage fixes on the above webpage.
>>107082280if your laptop has "poor linux support" its probably something that belongs in the trash can anyway
I simply don't have this problem and never will.
>>107088909It only lets me pause for 4 weeks at a time, how do you get it to 2038?
>>107081957It may be something as simple as dead RAM - especially if you get the occasional blue screen. Run memtest86 and test all of your memory (run ventoy on a thumbdrive then put memtest on it). I had a problem where the RAM was throwing so many logic errors, md5 checksums were cycling everytime they were ran - so maybe windows is trying to re-download files it thinks are corrupt.>And is there any way to stop it besides just staying offline at night? You could always try Linux.
