Depends on the size you want and a budget you have. For around a $100 you can look into presonus eris 3.5, it's decent for it's size. Mackie CR3.5 is similiar.

If you have a bit more space you can look into used passive stereo-pair and hook it into an amp from amazon. Local speaker prices can be a real steal.

I don't understand how people manage to live with ANYTHING under their desk or table. I lost my mind after a few months with how uncomfortable having a drawer set underneath is despite it being aesthetically pleasing.

I need at least 1 meter width of clearance for my legs to spread, I can't sit with my legs forward. It feels boxed in and uncomfortable. Which makes all of my big wooden desks unusable in the practical sense. But it also looks dumb and space inefficient to just have nothing underneath the table.

There are a few advantages. Speakers generally sound best with the tweeters at ear height, and having them on stands cuts down on first reflections off the desk surface. As a more practical matter, my desk just isn't wide enough to properly position them and even if it was, I'd still rather have that space open for activities.

Tweeters should face sorta towards your ear; it'll help with stereo imaging. But it's not a big deal if it's a bit off.

>>Does having the speakers propped up actually make a difference or is it mainly looks?
Stands help to decouple it from the desk. There's other ways if you have big enough desk to put it there. Also you can mount it on a wall or a shelf.

Oh. I can't see why it would matter besides the aesthetics

The theory is that wider separation is going to create a more immersive sound and. The reality is for speakers like this, placed where they are, the extra 5CM doesn't matter.
>>
>>107097284
It also helps with stereo imaging, higher frequencies are easier to pinpoint by your ears.

Please, then by all means, enlighten me on the differences it makes when I am listening to pet sounds in mono. I'll wait.
>>107097679
It's literally personal preference on what you like, and the content you listen to. The vast majority of the music I listen to is not stereo, and there is as a result no imaging benefit to having a wildly spaced set up, or a centered set up.

Thanks, it's pretty much done, slightly dated pic though, there's a 27inch portrait display between the right speaker and laptop with a monitor arm.
Also still want to get a sub, like an Eris Pro Sub 10 and I need a new UPS too, since my old one won't cut it for this load.
Plus extreme autism, I also want to put my CM8833-II on the right with a clamp-on table speaker stand for 15kHz emulation so I don't have to to my TV for a quick blast.
>>107103369
A room doesn't really need "treatment" if it has furniture. It's one thing if you're in a cinderblock cube, but if you've got carpet or a rug and a couch you're fine. Plants, bookshelves, lampshades, all those things will scatter reflections.

I can't stand multi monitor setups, even though I like the look of them. I just have my pc set up to run on one monitor at a time, despite being plugged into 2 monitors and my TV. Honestly just end up using my 'puder on the TV 99% of the time.
>>
>>107110971
I had two monitors at work. All I ever did was leave outlook and ms teams open on the other monitor. Extra screens doesn't really help my workflow. I am not transcribing data, or constantly referencing material. I look at and make changes to engineering drawing packages all day.
On top of that, multi monitor set ups look janky to me usually, messes up speaker placement, limits where you can put your tower etc. One screen per computer is all I need.
