Will I regret starting with Arch Linux?
>>
>>107089955
Arch Linux was my first distro and I never moved on from it.

If you're not an ESL (aka able to read and understand the installation guide) then it's not difficult at all.
The installation guide, a search engine and maybe a YouTube video (where they explain some simple concepts) should be enough to get you going
>>
I used Linux mint for one week, got frustrated, installed arch, and then never changed it. There is a lot to learn but everything works the way you tell it to work
>>
>>107089955
Just use Windows like any sane person on this planet?

you'd only regret it if you stick it in something without enough space
trying out packages and AUR packages gets quite large
>>
>>107089955
Despite being a little difficult to maintain at times, it actually a pretty good starting point since you learn to pretty much setup everything you need for yourself.
>>
>>107090000
Based 900lbs arch man. Digits confirm.

My first experience with linux was actually pretty bad, but things got better after i installed arch linux. If I had started with Arch itself instead of a “just works” distro that feels like a walmart version of windows, all the “what the fuck is happening?” moments in linux would’ve made a lot more sense
>>
>>107090055
Is this AI? I can't tell anymore.
>>
>>107089955
Depends, are you a pedophile?
>>
>>107090313
no
>>
>>107089955
yeah you probably will. just don't give up on your windows for a few months, you'll fuck up your arch install and will wipe it and reinstall it from scratch since you do not know how to recover fuckups yet
>>
>>107089955
If you’re prepared to put in the work of reading and understanding the Arch wiki to install and run some specific programs, no you won’t regret it. You’ll get in return an OS with software that are truly yours.
>>
>>107089955
You will regret Linux as a whole if you start with anything that is not Bazzite. It is the most pulled distro of recent times and has the hugest poweruser and normie userbase for a reason. Only 95iq midwits instead use arch because they must feel special when fixing their broken system.
>>
Yes. Arch makes you gay.
>>
>>107090279
Yes. But the first frame isn't.
>>
>>107090534
Yeah, I know the pic, but it's actually sick how AI makes it look so realistic. In 10 years no man will tell what's real and what's not on the interwebz.
>>
>>107089963
Same. I wanted to learn how to use Linux. I installed Arch and learned to use Linux.
>>
>>107090328
That sounds like something only a pedophile would say.
>>
>>107089963
I guess you never moved on from potty training either
>>
>>107089955
what's important is you get a good taste of linux
more noobs got a bad taste of linux from arch than mint, and your first taste of linux will last the longest
mint is a safe bet for a noob who wants a non windows just works OS

the ultimate redpill is there isn't much difference between linux distros asides of release cycle, pre-installed software and package manager. the ultimate redpill is ultimately debian or redhat based. arch to me seems like a personal tinker hobby distro.

it will work and you might like it depending on what kind of person you are, but it is not a distro i'd choose if i wanted a computer for serious things, especially not one i'd choose if i was giving linux a first chance.

tip: don't AURmaxx, it will bite you in the ass eventually

What?
>>
>>107090328
Then arch is not for you
>>
>>107091049
You should be embarrassed to be that fat in public
>>

you'll understand once it bites you, it did to me.

We're not like minded though, and never say that again. The only thing in his mind is cholesterol
>>
>>107090949
what does moving on from potty training mean? when i was being potty trained my parents got me to use the potty by my self and not make a mess. im still going to the potty by my self without making a mess, which point should i move on from?
>>
>>107091087
keep downloaded packets to a minimum, dont download every aur entry that looks interesting

You're gonna pull your hair just tinkering with Arch. Get a beginner friendly distro, learn the basics, then move to a more advanced distro if you want.

Linux Mint if you want a stable OS that comes prepackaged with all the shit you need and is similar to Windows, it won't have the most cutting-edge updates though.
Ubuntu if you don't care about the Windows look.
Fedora is probably the best but requires some knowledge, I recommend the KDE variant.
Bazzite if you only care about muh games.
>>
>>107089955
No. It's the best Linux Distro. Everything else is trash.
>>
>>107089955
Depends. Will you regret never getting anything done again? Being stuck forever tinkering and troubleshooting?
>>
>>107089955
No. Arch is easy and you can do cool stuff with it.
>>
>>107089955
No, not really. Chances are that you will break it, at which point you either bother tinkering with it or (my recommendation) switch to an arch-based distro so some basic things just work out of the box. At least that was my experience, and it was a good one I'd say
>>
Should I use Arch Install or does that defeat the point of learning linux

>t. Schwuchtel
>>
>>107089963
Arch was my first distro too, but AUR got me hooked on compiling, so I installed Gentoo after a few months.
Still like Arch a lot tho, and use it for VMs sometimes.
>>
>>107094971
>learning
You shouldn't have to learn shit with a good distro. It just werks.

You should be proud to be built like a tank. Weak people fear him.
>>
Just install debian 13

When it asks for a root password just click next and continue with the setup. Or if you want root which is like god mode and can do anything just put the same password.

Use flatpak website guide to install it and then do
 sudo flatpak install bazaar

congratulations you now have an unbreakable linooox system that just werks and can game.
