I know everyone on this board hates Apple but I was honestly impressed with the 11th Generation Ipad once I looked up more of it's specs. I got one on sale and it's been collecting dust for the last 8 weeks. I honestly didn't need one and shouldn't have bought it, but I digress. My desktop is getting old, and I was thinking "Hmmm maybe I can just turn my Ipad into a pseudo laptop with a keyboard case, and use that?" My desktop has a Ryzen 7 3700x, and when I looked up single core performance numbers I noticed that the A16 Bionic Chip has like a 30% higher performance rate over my desktop's CPU, at least for single-core performance, which is really all I need as I don't do animation or projects of any kind. I also stopped gaming on my PC a couple of years ago, so the GPU/visuals don't really matter in that regard.

I just didn't realize how strong the A16 chip really is, and I also was shocked to learn that its single core performance is the same as an M2 chip. It actually outperforms a lot of mid-range laptops, which cost a lot more. You could get a Macbook Air 13-inch with the M2 chip for $800, and you're not even getting a $500 performance difference. You're getting a better color gamut and probably 2 inches of screen size. I kind of just had an epiphany because that A16 Ipad is much stronger than I realized. Sure, it's not on par with fucking 4,000+ CPU scores like the I9, but it can push close to 3,000 for single core performance, which I thought was still impressive for a $300 tablet. If you're not gaming or doing heavy work projects, and just use a PC for browsing, streaming, porn, shitposting, etc then I'd say you'd be better off just fucking getting a $300 tablet and using it as a pseudo laptop. It'd be better than any $500-$600 laptop on the market, unless you just REALLY want 16GB of ram and a 13–15-inch screen. The pixel density on an Ipad is much sharper than a laptop as well, also a higher resolution and nit count.

Hating popular things doesn't make you cool. Apple isn't going away anytime soon. Linux is for faggots.

Also does windowing now, and you can plug in an external display. Though the one time I tried it to see what it was like, my mind couldn't quite process it. I usually click into modes when I jump around between MacOS, Linux, iPadOS, etc. Felt weird to have a screen with the iPad that I couldn't directly tap on.

its insane value at $300, thats why they price their oem keyboard/trackpad almost as high as the actual ipad itself
the mobile chips are just good now, thats why they are putting one in a laptop to cover exactly this market

the thing that truly made these ipads usable is usb connectivity, you can just hookup stuff now and it just werks
add ipados 26 completing changing how these devices can be used and you genuinely have an all in one computer that does everything most people need and can also be used as the best tablet period for just $300 plus any (cheap) keyboard and mouse
but that also means the biggest strength is its price, since none of the other upsides are exclusive to this specific model

the only true downside is how locked down ipados still is, and at that macos will always take a lead
theres just not much you can do outside of the basics, it just happens that we usually dont do more than the basics
also you cant hookup the mobile chips to an external display properly, but you can on the desktop chip ipads just fine (but those have other downsides like horrible battery life)

over all good device, especially at the target audience of babby's first 'puter

I haven't heard a single usecase for tablets yet, apart of old people who know nothing about tech and just need a device to get their one video call a year.
Actually this applies to all Apple products

I use my Tab S9+ 5G primarily as a way to save on my electricity costs, but I bought it for travel where it acts as a PC substitute. I never had a laptop (other than the company one).

The only people I see who have use cases aside from old people and literal children who need a screen to keep them entertained 24/7 while mommy does what she wants and takes a break from parenting her kid are the artists on tiktok who use the iPad as their sketching device with the apple pen, those on tiktok who play Delta emulator to play DS games on it, and those who like taking aesthetic noted for everything. Honestly tablets cater to a more niche market more than before and phone and actual laptops are a much better deal.
