-9800X3D: Not usually a significant improvement over a 7800X3D in gaming
-3060: Contrast pricing with 2070 (similar performance, 8gb) and 2080ti
-7700: Region dependent, at ~$250+ you'd likely better served elsewhere
-9060xt 16gb: Performance variable compared to 5060ti, buy only if $350 is the absolute max budget and you can't consider used
-9070: Only worth considering if cheaper than the 5070
-"Futureproofing": Nvidia gpus in general have been aging better than Radeon regardless of vram or marginal differences in raw performance

pump at around 50% is normal, always set it to the highest inaudible rpm possible which should be 40 to 60%
the difference between low rpm and max is almost none in real temp differences anyways, the rad size and fans are the ones actually making the actual difference
you just don't want pump to have constantly rpm changes

Down? Why would they stop going up? You're expecting too much if a 50% increase is something to complain about? 100% more is still a steal in this market. 172% is the MINIMUM you should possibly expect until AGI is achieved. You better buy now, when orders open up again I can't see how any company could even afford to sell this gold dust at anything less than 300% todays pricing.

AMD is lying. I repeat, they did the same in 2021 when they abandoned my R9 Fury. They announced support is dropping after 6 years (at the height of pandemic GPU prices and as Win 11 was rising, for which they would not provide drivers). There was an uproar, just like now. AMD quickly dove into the standard toolbox of corporate lies. There was a misunderstanding, we will surely support, bla bla bla. R9 never received Win 11 drivers. What they did was to release a few more "legacy" drivers for about a year, to handle the PR issue. That's all. That's what they'll do again. Handle the PR issue until it gets cold, then continue with their initial plan. It's corporate dark bible 101. Don't trust them. You've already received all the warnings you should ever need.

I've got a 5800x (non 3d). Mostly playing games on it and some amateur gamedev work.
Paradox games, especially Vic3 have been a bit sluggish, with the EU5 coming out I'm wondering if I should upgrade during the enxt black friday.

Probably about 1 - 1.5 years out.
If you wanted to upgrade before then the time to do so was last month

Of course, how can I forget the tempered glass and fishtank cases forcing that
Completely ignoring the fact that half of the time you have a side panel closed and it just makes accessing everything worse

With old cases you'd get sturdy build quality, a bright interior, and everything accessible with only ONE side panel to take off
Now it's an autistic origami puzzle

Main reason to get C30 over C36 was to guarantee Hynix modules for better stability (and OC headroom if you're in to that). The performance difference is minimal but it was like $5 extra so a good bet. Now that RAM prices have gone crazy there might be some real savings to be had so maybe not so bad.

Its not that hard, even easier if you have internet access and a screen so you can keep checking shit on the internet
That said i can understand being nervous about it and dreading it
I have been quoted 95€ on a nearby store for building and installing w11 if i delivered the parts (north of spain), and i know a friend was quoted 140€ for a similar service on Austria
So is not whats the most you'd pay but more whats available to you.
Again... get a friend and a set of screwdrivers, watch some videos, read the manuals and just do it yourself, you will learn a fuck ton too, even if your cable management wont be that neat

Is it worth waiting for black friday deals if there's a significant chance the gpu you want will get snatched up in seconds? Also, what are the odds nvme ssd's and ram even go on sale this black friday?
>>
>>107096113
Even easier once you decide your case and your mobo because i guarantee you there is some youtube video of somebody building a pc from scratch on your case (as long as it is a decently popular one); and another video of somebody building a pc with your mobo.
Read the manuals, and then post here if any doubt arises during the build with a picture.
Some anon did his first build couple days ago, maybe 5 or so threads ago, he posted here some questions but he seemed to work out the answers before people replied cause..... its not that hard and most of the shit is on the manual.
Also try to recruit an extra pair of hands, hopefully somebody that knows a little about computers even if he is as lost as you building but understand the assignment. Having an extra pair of hands to hold components in position as you turn the screws or to read the manual while you figure a part its priceless help.

As someone getting back into pc gaming after years and got a prebuilt with a 7700xt, how is fsr3 this bad in stellar blade? I already own a Force 500 and almost owned an Elite 370/338, honestly CM made my favorite cases from the late 2000's to 2010's onwards so I knew that I just couldn't pass on impulse buying the HAF 932 Advanced, even if I was looking for something to repaint as a beige box to blend in my cozy regal looking room, even if the pictures suggest it is pretty beat up.

Lol, can't believe I'm somehow having buyers remorse already over a find like this, this was gonna be a money sink regardless. Guess I'm just conflicted over whether I should keep it in its original state or whether I go ham with some primer, beige the outside, and silver the insides, and try to find some caddies and sleds without spending too many dollars.

I suppose I could try to make it more beige boxy by just finding some wood sheets or plastic plates, cutting them, and gluing them on somehow Hate the angled slopes. The non-flat side panels I guess I'll just have to live with. So I might still buy a period-accurate beige box or something new and even cheaper (10-20$) and repaint it as my main.

It means nothing usually.
Faster write speeds means faster saving but games already have seamless auto saving so you won't even notice it.
Faster write speeds makes loading faster. And you will never notice it unless you actually test it. A mid range NVMe vs the top end NVMe has a difference of 1 seconds loading at most. You literally will never notice it.

Are there any good aftermarket front panel I/O replacements that slot into 5.25" bays that I can still buy? It looks like (as is thankfully the case with most of these CM cases) you can easily dismantle the weird locomotive penthouse on the HAF 932, at least on the non-Advanced model. Same with those weird angular front clips, so thank god. No de-riveting required hopefully.

It's funny, cause I probably intend to give my Advanced the same look as the regular HAF 932 with a grey or metallic interior again.

Looks like it may not be optimal to remove the front bezels or whatever that greebling is on the front panel, they do seem to hold a practical function of keeping the drive sleds and fan cover in place. No matter hopefully, I might be able to just glue on some vinyl or pvc plastic plates and saw them so that it covers up that skeletal frame and turns it into a nice 90 degree corner... though I might spend more money on PVC plates than on the entire case at that point so lol.

At this point instead of gluing plastic panels together you might just commission a 3d print of a front panel

https://x.com/InstLatX64/status/1984934040634286344
>A few weeks ago, it was believed that Nova Lake wouldn't include any of Intel's advanced x86 extensions. The latest GCC compiler patch indicated that the initial Nova Lake enablement does not incorporate AVX10, AMX, or APX. This suggested that support for these new x86 instructions might be absent from the next-generation CPU.

>Initially, Intel chose to disable AVX-512 for the "Alder Lake" and "Raptor Lake" client-oriented CPU lineups, meaning that only server-grade Xeon CPUs benefited from the accelerated 512-bit data paths. With the release of NASM 3.0 and its subsequent 3.1 update, we are once again optimistic that Nova Lake will bring 512-bit acceleration to its client CPUs.

>For reference, AMD introduced full AVX-512 support with its "Zen 5" cores across its product range, providing a performance boost in optimized applications for both desktop and server CPUs. This marked the first time AMD did not emulate 512-bit AVX, which previously required splitting 512-bit data into two 256-bit units to be processed over two cycles. If Intel reintroduces full AVX-512 acceleration in its client SoCs, it will mark the first time both companies offer 512-bit vector acceleration in their consumer CPUs simultaneously.
AVX-512 support for Nova Lake is back on the menu, boys!
>>
>>107098813
every so often intel introduces an instruction that is not very useful, but is very difficult for AMD to copy.

If L3 cache has such a big effect on performance, why aren't we seeing AMD also increase L1 or L2 cache? Intel is actually winning there.

Budget Intel has double the L1 instruction cache and triple the L2, but lacks L3. If they found a way to match the L3, would the increased L1 and L2 give any noticeable gains in anything?

Anyone know why my 4070ti with 3 fans is so fucking loud even with old games?
I understand if the game is demanding but it has no consistency

Kingdom Come 2 - 100% usage - fans will sit around 70% speed
Warzone - 70% usage - fans will hit 100% without DLSS
Dishonored 2 (old ass game) - 70% usage - fans will hit 100% randomly

Doesn't make sense to me with my case having great airflow too.
>>
>>107099680
Shitty fan curve? How hot does your GPU get? If it's low enough just adjust your fan curve.
>>
>>107099688
It never goes above 80c and if it does hit 80, it's only for a second or two.
If I'm playing a demanding game, it'll always sit between 65-75.

I've tried adjusting my fan curve so many times but nothing works.
>>
>>107099680
You need to monitor gpu usage, gpu memory use & temps. A pattern will emerge.

that's pretty hot tbqh. You probably have shitty airflow in your case. Maybe you need to repaste the GPU as well.
>>
>>107099745
You need to know WHY it's happening.

Instinctively, it's the thermal paste.
>>
>>107099680
What is the hotspot? Fans hitting 100% indicates a far worse temperature than 75.
>>
>>107099771
lol
No it isn't. Demanding games can get that hot. My 4080 gets up to 65C when I play games on ultra settings.

>>107099702
What's the idle temperature?
If it's around +10-15C your room's ambient temperature then I'm going to assume it's not a thermal paste issue. Just because a bad thermal paste should also mean your GPU gets super hot while idle.
>>
>>107099771
>>107099781
I've never needed to check or re-paste a GPU.
I bought this one relatively close to when it was released. Wouldn't that be too soon for something like this?

>>107099786
I have temp monitors on my 2nd monitor.
The fans are always fine when it's at 70-79C.
Once it reaches 80c, it'll jump start the fans to 100% (3k RPM)

I actually don't mind the fans at around 2.5k RPM since they're not that loud and it keeps the card cool.
It's just weird that random games bring random results.

>>107099801
Idle temp is around 30-35C.

>Idle temp is around 30-35C.
Not a thermal paste issue then. If you want to test it then try mounting a CPU cooler without or very little thermal paste, you'll find out how hot it gets even at idle.
You most likely have a shitty fan curve. Some games are optimized poorly, which is why they use more GPU power than some other games.
>>
>>107099833
or, repaste it, since this is very cheap.

Thanks.

I've also tried multiple fan curves with pretty much the same effect. Doesn't really matter what I change on Afterburner.
I'm also close to accepting the fact that most games rely on DLSS to run fine.

>>107099928
Will do. I don't believe re-pasting is something I need like the other anon said since my idle temps are good. But I'll still do research just because I like to be informed.

would a cheap watercoolor still be better than the stock cooler for a cpu?
its for a ryzen 5600X btw
>>
>>107099974
sure
but a cheap air cooler makes way more sense
>>
>>107099980
could you elaborate, please?
my pc has two vent spaces in the top, and 3 on the front, currently i have two fans intake on the front and one exhaust on top, one empty slot on each side.
currently i have the stock amd coolor, i was thinking of getting an water cooler with two fans to put on the top , and move the top fan as another intake on the front (all fans as intakes for positive pressure to avoid dust
>>
>>107099974
what the other anon said
the stock cooler of that generation of ryzen (didnt even know the 5600x came with one) was just ok
a 20 peerless assassin is probably enough, but a 40 phantom spirit will keep it even cooler; those are cooling 9600x
That said, which temps are you getting with the stock? i cant imagine that chip getting that hot
>>
>>107100011
well, an advantage water cooler has is its quiterer

when your cpu starts work is forces an air cooler to ramp up fan speed, with aios water absorbs heat so the ramp up is slower and thus less noticeable
but its not a 200w cpu, an air cooler easily dissipates the 60w or something the 5600x outputs. A cheap thermalright air cooler would be good for it.
>>
>>107099974
The only reason to go for an aio is it might be quieter. Theoretically the lifespan might be greater.

you can attach air coolers or water coolers (aio) to a cpu
air coolers are bulky towers of heat pipes that include a fan (or 2) cooling the pipes, then the hot air goes to the back to the exhaust of the case
water coolers (aio) have a small pump attached to the cpu that well pumps a small amount of water through the pipes to keep the cpu cool, those come with a set of fans that are used to cool off the water as needed
For a 5600x barring aesthetic reasons just about any modern aio will be overkill and a 40$ air cooler should do more than enough to keep that chip cold
You can still get a couple cheap fans and set them in top if you so choose
>>
>>107099974
>>107100031
forgot to mention, another reason for an aio is if you are planning on shipping it.

that said i mentioned the 40 phantom spirit because its just that good and is cooling way hotter chips and this is an anon that was asking about buying an aio which will surely be more expensive than those 40.
BUT AGAIN a 20 thermalright should be enough and he can then buy a couple extra fans to populate the slots he has open

Maybe the reason your GPU gets hot quickly is because you aren't turning on the fans early enough.
My GPU has 0RPM when idle, around 30-45C. The minimum RPM is 56% so I when it reaches 55C the fans start and ramps up quick.
Make your own custom curve, stock fan curves sucks ass. FanControl is a nice program to use since it also tests how fast your fans are working. Maybe your fans are just shit.

>>
>>107100081
Eh that's technically fine. Idle temps mostly come down to how low you set your minimum fan speed. The 5600X doesn't need much power to max out its boost clock so putting an aftermarket cooler on there would mainly get you quieter operation (i.e. you can set a lower fan speed for a given heat load). Not a bad trade for $20 IMO.
