Why not tech in beige?
'tis ugly
>>107103510Fuck off Linus you filthy jew
>>107103510Beige plastic looks kinda cheap and flimsy to be honest.
>>107103510BRING BACK LOCK KEYS AAAAAAAAAAlso turbo buttons for the fans
Who needs internal 5.25" floppy disk bays in 2025, much less three of them?
>>107103510>Why not tech in beige?because rooms are already beige
>>107103636beige tech would fit perfectly in a room like this and look great, what do you mean
>>107103510They were never beige, they were white. They yellowed with time like most white electronics.
Anything releasing in beige now would just be "nu-retro". It'd just be a facsimile, not something that retains the feel of the 90s PC.
>>107103510>sleeperblegh. tired of seeing these everywhere I go. also why the fuck does it have 3 5.25" floppy disk drives. Why couldn't have they just used 3 empty spacers instead? Or maybe just one FDD?
>>107103537>>107103510I honestly thought until this moment that beige computers were originally white in their hayday but over the years yellowed a bit and that's why they're beige. They actually were beige from the start? Wtf that's hideous
>>107103516bad taste
>>107103686beige is not yellow you dumb zoomer
>>107103510it looked like white after a heavy smoking session, I hated it from the get-go. Good riddance.
I think beige should exist as an optionBut I suspect many people are like me where they don't mind beige but would buy a dark gray or black colored PC instead
>>107103686>they were whitelol kid
>>107103595it's just a normal 5.25" blank with a retro design on it (although having 5.25" is kind of retro in and of itself)
>yes I want my stuff to look like it's been owned by a smoker for 10 years
>>107103636That room looks like it would be fun to recreate in Blender.
Isn't this the guy that had one of his 18 year old employees get sexually assaulted at work by that creep James, and then he bullied her so much she started self harming because she wouldn't fuck him? Then Linus told her she should go on a date with him when she complained to him about it?
What ever happened to that Madison girl? Did Linus at least pay her a salary for the year for what they did to her?
Yeah... Why no more boring PC cases? I love my boring PC cases. Why do we all HAVE TO HAVE the ones with side glasses?I don't want to see the inside of my PC. I love building them, I love hardware but I don't want to see it. I only want to see it in 2 years when I clean it.
>>107103510It'll happen. People were excited for black/grey cases and blue LEDs because they looked new and modern compared to the old beige cases.First people will start doing it ironically, but once enough time passes people won't be making that association of beige=old and realise it's actually pretty neat.>>107103636A black PC would look worse than a beige one in this room. Though the room itself lacks contrast.
>>107104157Yeah what ever happened with that girl? She was funny.
>>107104095>although having 5.25" is kind of retro in and of itself
>>107103510It's pointless when mice and monitors are usually black and modern looking.
These cases weren't beige to begin with, they were grey or white, just the sort of plastic used at the time has a tendency to go beige over time
>>107104151>>107104157I didn't know about the James thing. Poor girl. She must have gotten bullied pretty hard if she started self harming. She was still a kid and Linus and his team tried to rape her and exploit her. Did Linus at least fire the guy?
>>107103510There needs to be some standardization. Black has worked well because everything is close-enough that it matches. But no two makers seem to agree about beige. What surprises me is that the options for mice are so bad. There are loads of beige and retro gray keyboards now, but you can't find a mouse to match.
>>107103510cringe
>>107103510>yellow as my teeth
>>107103770You're barely cognitive, you fat fuck.
Why won't Linus pay his employees a livable wage? He's been stealing from them ever since the pandemic caused inflation and the cost of living went up. All of his employees live in apartments and can't even afford their own houses.
They could have made the lever of the 5.25" drives a separate piece and market it as a fidget toy
>>1071035101. Beige is disgusting, looking 2. Full Keyboards are for trannies 3. Topre boards are membrane boards 4. cherry MX switches are trash 5. The wire on your keyboard acts like an antenna, and broadcasts your keystrokes in a 300 meter radius.
>>107105951ur trollinkwhere your usual subtelty?
>>107105951>>107105975actually i agree on all points except the part where you say full kbs are for tranisnever used a spreadsheet?
>>107105951get back to your containment general, tranny
>>107103537The only problem with beige is that it yellows from the fire retardants in them. I made a point to not buy anything, if possible, with a light plastic finish on account of that.
>>107104151She got fucked at work? Source?
>>107104151Holy shit, really? I didn't know he was so based
>>107103595>>107103715>also why the fuck does it have 3 5.25" floppy disk drives. They are just plastic covers for the 5.25" slots, same as picrel, just more stylish, you can remove them and use the 5.25" slots normally. The funnier part is that the case has a functional Turbo button (it's hooked up to the built in fan controller, when turned on it makes all case fans run at 100%).
>>107105951>2. Full Keyboards are for tranniesit depends, poorfags use k120s all the time. And trannies are into small mechanical keyboards too
>>107105951>2. Full Keyboards are for tranniesOther way around, it's the mini keyboards which are used by trannies. Full keyboards are used by people who... actually do work on their computer.
>>107103537Beige era cases were built better than they are now. They were much sturdier. >>107103636And thus beige is a natural looking fit for such a room. Which is why I am converting my black electronics back to beige.
>>107103736Yeah, they do yellow a bit over time though, but they were not all white white. We had some beige/off white ones when I was a kid in the 90s
>>107103736>>107103770Things were white, beige, grey, and so forth originally. All of them yellow into their respective shades if they used ABS plastic or a fire retardant compound if exposed to radiation such as the sun.
>>107104095>(although having 5.25" is kind of retro in and of itself)This is the most uber fucking retarded thing ever, 5.25 and 3.5 bays have countless uses besides JUST optical drives. You can upgrade your entire front IO with it, use them for coasters, use them for hot swap bays, displays, audio equipment, additional drive storage, endless possibilities. >>107103711This, that thing is just a retool of an existing case with the veneer of an old case even if it looks cool. Real old school chassis would have more things than that. Look at old British cases for example.
>>107103510It ain't that hard, you lazy nigger. Get to it.
>>107106687>This, that thing is just a retool of an existing case with the veneer of an old case even if it looks cool. It's not a retool, it's a brand new mold. Unless you are implying they found the original molds for that case which I doubt.and it has basically all modern features (pwm hub, gpu holder, removable dust filters, radiator support, rubber grommet hdd cage, etc) some of which are not even seen in modern cases because they are "old" modern like a hdd cage with anti vibration mounts.>Real old school chassis would have more things than that.I have some old chassis and they don't have anywhere near the amount of useful things that case has. If a 90s case had all of that shit, it would've left everyone stampeding in their own drool to buy one because ton of those features were unthinkable at the time. I think it wasn't until Antec in the mid-late 00s that all these features got added to a case for the first time. The IBM330 I have somewhere has the top of the case sliding off a rail and the front panel had a slide cover to block the 5.25 slots, but that's about the only "more" it could do, unless you count the system board diagram printed on the inside of the top cover.>Look at old British cases for example.like fucking what, the Amstrad? Get the fuck out of here.
>>107105951Trannies buy separated numpads
>>107106795I would buy some Dupli-Color sandable primer and Rust Oleum almond or beige satin protective enamel if I didn't live in fucking Central Europe right now... I'll just have to pray some universal off the shelf acrylic primer used on cars from Boll, Spectrum or whoever the hell and some RAL 7032 or RAL 1015 matte acrylic spray will work on my plastic, metal, and aluminum gear.
>>107107131>It's not a retool, it's a brand new mold.Is it actually? I thought it was just a modified version of an existing case that looks kind of similar just with a new front panel and drive bays. Especially because they still kept the PSU shroud for some strange reason and didn't bother cutting out any vents on the side panel.>like fucking what, the AmstradEvercase, actually. You'd have to be a real fanatic to build in one of those today though, everything about their construction I remember to be fantastic and not like modern cases.
>>107107583>Is it actually? I thought it was just a modified version of an existing case that looks kind of similar just with a new front panel and drive bays.Oh, you mean the other way around. What I meant was that the plastic front panel requires new tooling, it may have been made to be similar to an older case but they had to use new tools unless they somehow found the injection mold for whatever 90s case they copied. And yeah the interior is likely a retool of some other stock case that every company does, probably closest to one of the Fractal Design cases. However that still means it has 5x the features of a typical "modern" case, since every company but Fractal and maybe Jonsbo is releasing nothing but stupid fucking glass fishtanks now which don't even have ANY fucking features other than 12 fan bays and big holed meshes.
>>107106273James is giga based. In other news, short circuit videos can't top 100k views anymore so they rolled out Luke lmao.Wen mass lay-offs at LMG?
>>107105951>The wire on your keyboard acts like an antenna, and broadcasts your keystrokes in a 300 meter radiusJust wait until he finds out how wireless keyboards work...
>>107108270>short circuit videos can't top 100k views anymore so they rolled out Luke lmaosteve won
>>107103736basically all white-ish plastics from the time have yellowed by now, but there certainly were a lot of different shades used. some beige, not that many though. they became known as beige because they yellowed within just a few years due to sunshine mixed with a lot of people still smoking inside at the time.old macintoshes were known to be "snow white" but nowadays it's hard to find one that hasn't gone beige.
>>107103736they were white but iirc companies deliberately added compounds so that they would yellow over time so you would think it's old and replace it.
>>107108924>they were white but iirc companies deliberately added compounds so that they would yellow over time so you would think it's old and replace it.They had to add bromine to act as a fire retardant which reacted to UV exposure and yellowed the plastic. This however took DECADES, so it was in no way a deliberate attempt at making the machines look worse over time.
>>107106604>Full keyboards are used by people who... actually do work on their computerKeep coping buddy whatever keeps you asleep at night
>>107108988you're the one that's coping. a numpad is used by people needing to punch in data fast. only jeets or trannies care about minimizing their keyboard size for aesthetic reasons or the fact that their tiny apartment desk can't hold it alongside their stack of garbage.
>>107103736many were deliberately chosen to be their off white to look fresh and new at the time and blend into the office, without being an "imposing" black box. Pure white would have gotten too dirty too fast and not blend in with the office.Amigas (1200,3000/t etc) were RAL Oyster White.IBM XT and early AT's are Sandstone Beige.Even the Snow and Platinum Macs were originally off white and beige respectively.People forget that beige was sort of an in demand color at the time for a modern office ( and thus home computer trying to emulate it ) Black things like the Spectrum, Silver/black like the atari 800, etc were rather uncommon and later models like the XT would be a more neutral light grey color
>>107108988>Keep coping buddy whatever keeps you asleep at nightGo down the post office and tell me how many TKL keyboards are used there.
>>107109017>a numpad is used by people needing to punch in data fastdata entry is a jeet job, congrats on outing yourself
>>107108988Have fun using any CAD software without a numpad lmao
>>107106604muh productivity is the quintessential transgender argument 5 years ago, it was "productive" to have a 60% and use layers and macrosnow adays it's "productive" to have a full keyboard and not use layers anymorewish you faggots would just make up your minds
>>107103510It yellows. Some of those self-checkout machines are still made out of beige panels, though. I guess IBM needed to do something with all that paint.
>>107105951>Full keyboards are for tranniesAs someone who has had to use scrunched-up laptop keyboards for over a decade now, I can safely say that they have more in common with being a troon in that both are exercises in self-mutilation
>>107109130>5 years ago, it was "productive" to have a 60% and use layers and macrosNo, it wasn't. If a 60% needs layers and macros to be able to work as fast as a full sized keyboard, then by definition it is not as productive.Try typing in the numbers on a paper you are holding. That's a real thing that real people do all day in for ex. bank or post office. Try that with a TKL keyboard, I dare you.
>>107103736last echo of the 70s, the era of the worst interior design ever seen
>>107109130kys
>>107109182No. You don't understand. People with 60% keyboards were copying the style of hardcore Japanese Data Entry keyboards, where the number pad was a layer on the main keyboard rows. It's more "productive" because you do not have to take your hands off the keyboard row to use the number pad.
>>107109206nah, you kill yourself, uneducated swine
>>107109266>No. You don't understand.Wrong. I don't even care.
