Why do quantum computers have to hang down from the ceiling like a golden chandelier? Why isn't it in an enclosure like all other PCs or servers?
>>107110456the everyday use is nation states nullifying encryption
>>107110529They’re then dipped into liquid nitrogen for cooling otherwise they aren’t stable enough.

>>107110456I've tuned out tbqh. Once every few months someone goes "look at my golden chandelier, it's over encryption is finished, AGI in two more weeks!" and nothing ever happens. This time it was China, apparently. Maybe it often is, they tend to brag about a lot of impressive tech things that lead nowhere.
A meme to steal money from retarded and ignorant investors.

quantum computing seems like it might be plausible. it might be a lie, but i dont know why tptb would lie about quantum computers being real.
You only need a 50 qubit system in order to start doing things a classical computer will never do. It's going to be extremely bespoke shit for a very long while, however. Nothing you need to worry about, OP.

>>107110557>Lab products are imaginary thingsThey exist. But until the product gets widely used, it remains incredibly expensive and just a curiosity.Assuming that they work reliably enough and without a large number of technicians in attendance, which is a BIG question when it comes to quantum computing. Right now, it's just a lab curiosity. It's gonna take a lot of billions for it to displace standard silicon (same as for any other new tech for making computers).
>>107116851>muh consoomerif it's going to be that powerful they won't sell it and they won't reveal it in a hurry
>>107116888>>107116851If no one can use it, have it, then it doesnt exist. Someone might claim they have a warp drive or teleportation device hidden in their lab basement, and no one would care. The only magic substance that matters in this world is when its mass produced.
>>107110557>Without consumer level device that are made in millions per year, and everyone has it in their pocketsThe "everybody uses computers" and "smartphone in ever pocket" paradigm we live in is not sustainable and will not survive to see quantum computers running doom, let alone breaking encryption.
>>107116954Thats just communist thinking.
>>107116919>If no one can use it, have it, then it doesnt exist. It could be a facility located only in some datacenters (ooh, like cloud computing is!) and still be quite real. But right now it ain't. It's pure research stuff still, and still stinking of being a boondoggle for physicists, like fusion research was for decades. The various announcements are typically timed exactly to try to get another round of research funding, nothing more.
>>107117067Research level means its not real. Same with all the millions of magic battery papers that come out every single day. Unless the products are mass produced they are not real.

How do you "interact" with a quantum computer? It's not like you can hook this thing up to a monitor. Like, some kind of quantum terminal or shell? SSH?>tfw new firewall rule accidentally blocks port 22 on my quantum computer
>>107119437general rule of thumb is each new model of technology requires a difference in terminal types
>>107110456Cring
>>107119437It's about probabilities and gates. So it's unlike any programming language your using because it's probably more to do with qubit operations enmasse with operators not available in your current langs. I am guessing here though.
I'll believe when I see it. I've been hearing about this quantum crap for a gazillion years, let me know when someone actually starts using it for real useful work outside of a laboratory, let me know when it's available for purchase, even if it's only affordable to a big company.
