How doable is it to swap the drop cables etc of 2 apartments and make the identification of the apartment to the ISP reverse?

:O

fiber optics....
>>
>>107120214
They will see the traffic patterns change so as well as cp you'll be arrested for fucking with things that aren't yours
>>
I looked at this huge case of fiber optical wiring in the utilities room. I would think that if I could identify both apartments and just swap the cables it would be done? But it looks incomprehensible
>>
>>107120256
I figured it would be ok if both apartments are mine as well as both the internet plans?
>>
Perhaps I can ask ISP to do it for me
>>
The things that keep me up at night. How does it actually work
>>
>>107120214
Are you swapping the ONTs as well? Because if not it's going to be damn obvious.
Also it'd be a pain in the ass unless you're experience with running wires and maybe splicing fiber.
>>
>>107120307
Yeah my idea was to shut it all down, then during downtime, swap the drop cables, fiber optic receivers, and internet boxes for the sake of Mac address consistency

But the main obstacles seems to be identifying the right sockets for each apartment. There is a letter and number grid but it doesn't correspond to the apartment numbers. Seems codified or something

somebody somewhere knows....
if it were like 20 years ago you could probably figure it out with some google hacking lol
>>
What about asking a new install by new ISP and take the installer to apartment A when he is there to install apartment B. Gaslight him into thinking shit is fucked up since the construction and he can save the day
>>
>>107120348
This is assuming the guy they send has the training to do anything more than what he is there to do (unlikely as that could make him an under utilized asset)
>>
>>107120337
I mean if you can figure out the internal wiring aspect you can do it. The only issue I can think of beyond that is that the ISP probably has their documentation of the ONT tied to the unit number rather than the fiber circuit itself. Thus if one of your tenants in the units calls in to get help there will likely be confusion and you'll be found out.
>>
It seems imprpbable that someone who has the knowledge would deploy it to help me do something which objectively seems like a bad idea. Only a true rogue autist would understand the compulsion to stick it to the man even if there would be no net benefit, only a principle one
>>
>>107120369
And if that's the case honestly you could just tell them what you did and I doubt they'd be upset. Or at least my local ISP wouldn't be. But it's city ran so maybe the private sector is more bitchy.
>>
>>107120369
I once spent several months plotting some type of secret trick which they don't want you to know. But in the end I must have damaged the wire connecting both points across the building and it didn't work. It was very demoralizing even though practically it would not have added much. I think it's a mild mental illness
>>
>>107120396
Oh. Well yeah if you damage the fiber they'd be angry for sure. Like Idk your ISp but I used to work for the local one and we'd fine people for fucking with and breaking the fiber line.
>>
whats the use case for this? you do realise the police knocks in an x mile radius right
this is as dumb as stealing wifi from a nan, you really think a nan is a master hacker?
>>
>>107120394
Having looked at this cable cabin in the utilities room, the only potential indication of something obviously corresponding to the apartment units are the major sections. But I can't comprehend the number and letter grid on the inside of the cabin. It may be a template which does not have anything to do with the actual numbers of the apartments.

Assuming this was done during initial construction of the building 5 years ago, I wonder if the Isp still has clear mapping of those sockets to apartment units.

I have no idea how to proceed only by invoking the help of an isp technician which I should give some misdirectional information then go with him and make him identify the 2 unit sockets
>>
>>107120432
I imagine they would if they're worth their salt. Or like I said it's bound by unit number, and moving the ONT would fuck with that.
Honestly what are you trying to do? Depending on what you could just get away with swapping ONTs.
>>
>>107120404
It doesn't have a use case it's more a compulsion caused by rogue autism which I think I have, euphenistically called ethical hacking. Potential use case could be inverting the record keeping of service delivery location
>>
>>107120214
Put the APC connector up your ass and it will reverse the polarity
>>
>>107120214
What could this possibly be good for?
>>
>>107120265
>Hey, ISP, yea, OP here: can you please swap my IP address every time I search for pizza?
>Also do not keep logs of my searches. And do not help or work with the cops at all.
Go ahead, try it.
