>>107123596Budget doesn't really exist anymore since the affordable GPUs won't last as long as they used to. It took a -60 Ti card two gens to slightly beat the 3070 Ti's average raster performance.AMD is content with playing that game.

Anything like pic related that I can buy and install into my 5.25" bay that's still being sold?

I need some sanity checking help. I've got a Z690-A Pro DDR4 motherboard and a 13600K. According to the specs at us.msi.com/Motherboard/PRO-Z690-A-DDR4/Specification it can hold up to 128gb of RAM. Currently it has 32gb of RAM in it (2x16) in 2 slots. I was going to try and grab 32gb more (another 2x16) to bring the total up to 64. However, according to the memory specs at /us.msi.com/Motherboard/PRO-Z690-A-DDR4/support#mem (pic related), it looks like I can only use 2 dimm slots?Am I reading this correctly? That if I use this particular model of RAM I can only use 2 slots instead of 4? The motherboard has 4 slots, and 2 are presently empty. Any clarification would be appreciated.
Holy ram prices when is it going to stop
>>107124704Only if you overclock it.Rule of thumb, maximum of two RAM sticks to overclock. Any more than that and you need to run at base speed to make it work.If you want more memory but also want the speed you need 2x32GB RAM sticks to overclock 64GB of RAM.
>>107124750
>>107124656ds3h is betteryes 7900 (non x) has low power draw so it wont be limited like a 200w cpu at max load would
>>107124753Ah ok. So with 4 sticks it'll only run at the base 2133Mhz speed. And if I stick with 2 I could potentially run the RAM at 3600Mhz. I don't suppose server RAM would work if the speed is already kind of low?
>>107124750i had to pay $100 for a DDR5 32GB stick and it was just a 5600 mhz 36 cl one, 6000 mhz and cl 30 rams or above are either sold out or twice as expensive, im also shtiting bricks because it still has not arrived and the same type of ram is now $140 on my country
>>107117635>>107117646Thanks for the answers, anons. I'll check if I can snag a 5060 Ti during the incoming holiday sales.>try to look for one with good memory temperatures though, some models cheapen out and do not have thermalds pad on the backHow could I check that? Look up images/videos of the different brand models? Are the pads usually visible, or should I look for images of the disassembled card? Or is there something I can check on the box or on the product page of the store?>look into the 5070 TI super with 24gb vramI wouldn't mind it, but I think that's going a bit too hard for my current level of fucking around with AI. The 5070 Ti is already ~1000€ (picrel, and even the used ones aren't that much cheaper), so I assume that the Super will be even more expensive. Maybe if I get lucky enough to make some extra money on the side with this, I'll look into higher end stuff kek

>>107122889Okay /g/uys, I bought a new laptop and wanted to use the wd sn850x I already owned with it, but when I changed it it basically bends over because it's populated on the two sides, do you guys know a good m2 ssd that's only single sided on the 4tb model?I've found people say that the lexar nm790 is good, and there's too the samsung 990 evo plus which is rather affordable and fast.
>>1071247044x16 will work at high speeds on that boardMSI has good DDR4 support on Z690/Z790but it depends if your kits are single rank or dual rank, 4 dual rank sticks would be a quad rank setup and that's questionabledo you know if your sticks are version 3.31 (like in the screenshot) or are you just looking at the model number?https://github.com/integralfx/MemTestHelper/blob/oc-guide/DDR4%20OC%20Guide.md#corsair-version-number
>>107124890>How could I check that?Review sites and videos, good reviews usually have a section in which they show the disassembled card both metal blackplates and thermal pads in the back are usually fatures to look out but dont over pay too much for it unless you live in an hot or humid placeand cant afford AC, i would avoid zotac lower end models unless they are significantly cheaper than everyone else on your country
>>107125004The sticks I currently have in my machine say ver 3.34 on the sticks. Their model is CMK32GX4M2D3600C 18. The RAM I was scoping out is the exact same model, but I don't know what version it says on the sticks. This model is dual sided. For my application, speed is actually not as important as raw RAM capacity and stability. But you're saying having 4 dual-sided sticks of RAM is a bad idea?
>>1071241099800X3D on some solid but cheap mobo with the bare necessities. Air cool it with one of them chinese coolers.
>>107124890>How could I check that? GamersNexus does temperature measurements for cards they review, and they sometimes include cards of the same type but different manufacturers. But if you just google "5060 Ti thermal comparisons" you should land on some sites with charts that go compare the different versions to show you what the coolest one is, and what the quietest one is.
>>107125165>The RAM I was scoping out is the exact same model, but I don't know what version it says on the sticksno way to predict that, corsair will give you anything as long as it meets their minimum requirementsthe official model numbers don't mean anything with RAM>But you're saying having 4 dual-sided sticks of RAM is a bad idea?yes, and ver 3.34 seems to be 8gbit micron rev E, so you already have 2 dual-sided sticksof course it will still work if you go down to base speed, but that's really bad for a 13600Kmight still be fine for your applications though
Not sure exactly how this is possible, but two of the rivets on the motherboard tray are missing and misaligned. Whether this has anything to do with the series of broken off rivet caps I discovered upon first sighting the case I am uncertain.
>>107125166>Cheapest possible build to play dota2 at 120fps>9800X3Dredditors really say this shit with a straight face
>>107124890also if this are your price i can at least say that based on techpower up the Asus prime non OC model does have metal backplate and thermal pads on the back it's a little bit above msrp but not much altough is out of stock right now (probably because of it) maybe look if it goes on sale during black friday
>>107125258the OC model also has it but overall OC models are scam so pick up the cheaper one
>>107125227>might still be fine for your applications thoughI'm mostly getting it for some Houdini work. According to various sources I've looked at, RAM speed doesn't seem to impact simulation calculation times as much as RAM "capacity" does. And stability, obviously. So I don't mind the slower clock speed as long as it doesn't crash in the middle of a 10-hour simulation.
