Why does literally no one use smartphone styluses? Are they considered cringe or nerdy or something? Tapping a phone with your fingers feels like eating food with your bare hands, in my opinion. I don't understand how normies are fine with obnoxious accessories like pop sockets and bulky cases, but a stylus is too much.

I do, well I did before I lost the stylus for my S23. Fucking thing is so easy to lose. Shame because I loved drawing custom memes on that thing
>>
>>107127713
Because it's another thing you have to carry around and most things normies do with their phones can be done just fine with their fingers why did you make a whole thread to ask this question

I have a tab S9+ and never use the S-pen or whatever it's called. It's not very convenient to use if the tablet is standing more vertically, and if you put it horizontally you need to hunch over it which also isn't very comfortable and gives me a headache after a while. I mostly use it with a keyboard and mouse or by touching the screen with my fingers.

If I saw somebody use their phone with this gaylord stick I'd assume they must be handicapped physically or mentally

People use them in Canada during winter and artists use them to doodle on the go (although it isnt hugely pleasant...)
>>
>>107127713
I only ever use them for drawing apps or when emulating some light gun games

I just imagined a very pristine White Environment with columns and baths. Where people use styluses for their screens and tap their chins and say "Hmm.."

stylus + gboard's handwriting mode is the luxury smartphone experience
>>
They make it hard to use both hands. The increased precision is not worth it.

Styluses are great. Both my laptop and tablet have them. I do not have one for my smartphone simply because only Samsung note has stylus and they're too expensive.
The ones like op are kind of ok, but they're just notes.

I once had one of the Motorolas with a stylus. I literally used it once, I genuinely forgot it was in the phone, even as I would fiddle with it I never once considered using it. I do the same with styluses, I have one that has 2 modes, the standard sphere like your pic and a precision tip. I have it in my bag every where I go and I've never even once thought about using it.
I bet most people don't even think about them desu.

Why would I use an instrument designed to mimic a finger when I have a finger

A case is one with the phone. A pop-socket is one with the phone; and useful for some because phones have gotten hueg.
A stylus is a separate component. Easily lost if there's no integrated way to keep it with the phone. Like how old PDAs (or your NDS) have a slot to store it in.

Plus digitizers now are pretty high resolution and supplemented by algorithms that can pretty accurately detect your finger touches. Those old PDAs were pretty low resolution and had to be physically pressed in order to register.

>lol appel pencil
yeah. somewhat counter to what I just said … screens are also now high resolution enough to invite precision work which you won't get with those rubber tipped styli of a decade ago. Apple's Pencil and Samsung's S-Pen are not the same as those.

I use one, it's called MY FUCKING FINGER YOU RETARDED FUCK
>>
>>107127713
not only is it unnecessary but 90% of them are dogshit that dont work

I use my penis.

It only makes sense if it's an active stylus, otherwise might as well use your finger. If I'm not mistaken, only Samsung ships those, and only on expensive devices.
>>
Writing with stylus isn't that convenient, sometimes it can't detect my cursive and it's hard to do when I'm on a shaking bus
>>
Sure I'll just keep it up ny ass when not using it and pull it out every time I want to check a message. Wvery heard of voice to text?

My old Samsung phone had a stylus, it was comfy but I didn't use it much
I can't see myself carrying a stylus separately just to almost never use it. If I was going to carry around a phone peripheral I almost never use I'd rather have a folding membrane keyboard than a stylus
>>
Easy to lose. Using a finger is good enough most of the time
>>
>>107127713
I use mine to take quick notes and to take pictures remotely (shame they removed this feature in S25U)
