Thoughts on the Sony WH-1000XM6 noise cancelling headphones? I am easily irritated by background noises, such as distant dog bark or my neighbors simply just walking around their apartment, closing their front doors etc. I've heard that these are the best noise cancelling headphones in the market right now. I am also looking for good audio quality. Should I go for them?
If you're wondering to buy a product or not, ask yourself this question: is it AI-powered? If it yes then buy, buy, buy.
>wireless>good audio qualityyou cant have both. wirelessly transmitted audio is using an on the fly codec that is terrible, lossless audio doesnt exist no matter what the snake oil salesman tell you.lossless audio HAS to be wired.
>>107131596I intent to use them with a wire.
>>107131558I have the XM3 ones and while they do work really well, I almost never use them nowadays because my noise canceling earbuds work just as well and are a lot easier to carry around with you.
THE HINGES ARE REALLY DOGSHIT AND PLASTIC DO NOT GET THEMMMMMMM ITS CHEAP GARBAGE DO NOT GET, I BROKE THEM WITHIN MONTHS OF USING THEM
>>107131558They're decent but kind of underwhelming.>battery is bad>feels more like a $70 phone than a $500 one and leather feels like PU leather rather than real leather(its thin)>sound quality is on par with my $50 headphonesI kept mine but that's just because im too lazy to return it I use my wired earplugs instead
>>107131558I can't speak for the xm6, but I do have the xm4. I bought them a few years back with the intent to drown out music and noise from my asshole roommates, and they didn't really work that great. Active noise cancellation in general works best for consistent, droning noises. Like an AC unit, or the noise you hear on an airplane. Erratic, impulsive noises like a dog barking or door slamming will still make it partly through. I'm sure the technology has improved somewhat from the 4 to the 6 model, but I wouldn't get your hopes up too high.
>>107131558>BluetoothslopLmao
>>107132752The anc is incredibly weak across the generations it seems
>>107131558Aren't we suppose to be shilling the hbd 630?
>>107131558They are good, until the trash plastic hinges break and you have to buy another pair because they made it almost impossible to replace (you have to unsolder and resolder wires and take the entire thing apart, just for a hinge)TLDR: buy another brand, cheap wireless headset, plenty to choose from with noise cancellation.
>>107131558yell at your neighbors to stop making noise
>>107132775What the fuck are you talking about
>>107132388I second this they removed the durable XM4 hinges for the purpose of making them look "prettier" but in exchange they made them really frail and impossible to repair DO NOT BUY. Mine also got broken after a few months of usage.
>>107131558I have an M4 and they are pretty good. Only really loud noises come through and I hear the M6 have even better NC.
>>107132752i have the xm4 as well. honestly apple airpods pro anc shits all over it
>>107131558If you are not into nigga music you are gonna hate them. The colored sound is awful for anything else. I have buyers remorse. There is a fucking retard that complained about the led indicator so now you cant tell if they are on, I have battery drained all the time because I cant tell if I turn them off, you just need to make it a setting fuck sony. My brother laugh at me when he saw I bought sony headphones.they are expensive as fuck and sound like cheap crap.
>>107134031What's a cheaper/better alternative?
All of these similar anc things are so massively overpriced it's sad (sony, sennheiser, bose). I got a Bose QC Ultra to listen to shit biking to work while supressing the wind noise and the asking price is like 370€ for 1st gen 2023 (mine) while 2nd gen 2025 is 540€. Got it for half that when they were pretty new still. They really crank the sales after like 6-12 months. In my usage the sound quality difference between other phones is negligible. Still, extremely comfortable to wear but the fake leather is extremely thin along with the padding. I can see it tear apart in a few years even if I baby them. The "detect if worn on a head" system is janky shit that pauses audio if I kneel down sometimes. Can't disable it in the firmware app either. They at least made me realize that curved cups that prevent ears from touching the inside will forever be my nr1 priority now for any earphones. Such staggering difference while using them for long periods of time.
XM4 and XM5 earpads will start to smell like absolute hell, and start to make crackling sound when the moisture builds up underneath
I have the XM5, I do not like them, XM3s were better. I'd look elsewhere. Sony used to have the absolute best ANC around, but others have caught up
>>107134185>370€ for 1st gen 2023300€ here>while 2nd gen 2025 is 540€450€ hereyou're getting scammed kek
>>107134277Shit just overall more expensive here. Even your prices are fucked for what you get with these. The margins are massive for creating them or they wouldn't drop in price so fast.
>>107131558I got it for my birthday a month ago and its alright. The ANC is really good for background noise, though it's a bit uncomfortable to wear for long periods of time. You should try it on in a store or something before buying.
>>107131558I bought and then sold because low latency is too costly/sketchy to setup. I cant play cs2 with this shit and i grew out of music.
>>107132388>THE HINGES ARE REALLY DOGSHIT AND PLASTIC DO NOT GET THEMMMMMMM ITS CHEAP GARBAGE DO NOT GET, I BROKE THEM WITHIN MONTHS OF USING THEMI just bought XM5 os sale for $220. Am I fucked?
