and the reason why it is made in china is probably infrastructure. relatively cheap electricity, cheap logistics, an open business community, etc. I'm an absolute idiot and I could organize a supply chain from china because chinese companies are surprisingly open, they just put their phone number out there
and quality social housing and 80% home ownership rates mean that even engineers and qualified professionals are willing to work for a lower salary because rent isn't eating half of their income

An extension cord is just wires held by bits of plastic, metal, rubber.
When you're confronted with a Chinese product, ask yourself, "could an intelligent Chinese really feasibly fuck this up?", and in the case of extensions cords, the answer is no.
If something depends on an established chain of complex industries before it can get made, then I am a bit more cautious.

NTA, but over in Europe that might not even be the case anymore. Several European countries have been fucking with safety legislation for 220V material, which means hardware stores stopped carrying DIY extension cords, plugs, etc. They're literally not allowed to sell power strips that you can screw open to wire them yourself.
It's complete nanny-state coockoo-pants crazy.
