Must suck to be a public tracker jeet. I only seed to other people that are on the private trackers I'm on and no, I do not mean trash like TL or BLU.
>>
I seed on both public and private. Cabal and low tier trackers. I think piracy is good. I'm not going to argue about if it's "stealing" or not. I hope the rights holders lose some sales because of me.
>>
>>107143901
Based. Only the cabal and a few niche trackers are meritory of my seed.
>>
I should also describe how and why I participate in public tracker sharing. I don't deal with sharing popular content to the public. That's pointless. I share rare content I get from private trackers instead. Stuff that either can't be found or is only circulating in low quality. On private trackers I'm happy to act as basically the piracy equivalent of a CDN node since I jump on popular torrents early using autobrr. But whatever goes to public should have a meaningful impact.
>>
>>107143969
I'm too lazy to do that shit. But I do help a few buddies when they need stuff that is dead or not found in publics. I guess we all give something back to the bottom feeders in one way or another.
>>

I've started doing that as well. I like taking things that are on private trackers but are dead/non-existent on public ones and seeding there. I know I'll likely remain the only seeder, but it makes me happy knowing I could help someone get access to something rare. Maybe some of them will eventually end up on private trackers as well, or simply start caring about media preservation similarly to me.

>>
>>107147007

>>
Does being connectable matter much on private trackers? I can't do port forwarding
>>
>>107147007
waste of time just do RED
>>
>>107147141
For downloading not really, for uploading yes, it matters a lot
>>
>>107147165
I thought as long as the other peer is connectable it's ok though, so if most downloaders are connectable I should be ok?
>>
>>107147174
At least one of you has to be connectable in most cases yeah, but in practice even if that works you're much more limited when uploading if you're not always connectable yourself. It's not just about having less peers who can download from you, your upload speeds are much lower on average, at least from my experience
>>
why do i lose seeders when i add public trackers into a rutracker torrent?
>context
there's 9 seeders with only rutracker's tracker, then i add 4 more trackers and now im down to 1 seeder; are they now unreachable? or is that just my client?

>>107147285
Most VPNs have a 30 day money-back guarantee, you could try that and cancel if you've subscribed recently. No idea how easy/hard they make it though
>>
Should I enable 2FA on private trackers? I've always been hesitant because I've been afraid if I lose access somehow it will be really hard to get back in

>>
>>107147007
Finally I WON
I've been begging for this for months
>>
>>107147284
you just download 5000 tiny torrents & seed them for half a year while you get the account age, it's a nonissue

tons of torrents are in the 10-100kb range on GGn which is why seed time is an irrelevant statistic
>>
>>107147831
they should automatically deny any invite request from people who do that
>>
>>107147903
Why?
GGN has a built in tool to help users accomplish exactly this.
>>
>>107147908
because it's clearly the most low effort way of achieving the word of the requirement, but not the spirit of it
>>
>>107147903
it's strongly incentivized because you need to have 2000 torrents seeded for a month to get the maximum value out of that stat (and some extra for trumps) and they have a mass downloader tool.
>>
>>107147903
I'd rather play those small 10-100kb games which provide way more fun for way longer periods of time instead of getting only one 200 giganigga game which turns out to be just some boring shit.
>>
am i crazy if the only reason i want to join ggn is for the rankup idle gameplay
>>
Why did ggn restrict fitgirl and kaos as the only repackers? elamigos have way better installers and fast with updates compared to them
>>
All new trackers are growing very fast like seedpool / Aither

When old community based trackers are shrinking....

Like PTP when 3 years ago after they reach 40k user limit and decided to open flood gates and started invite everyone from everywhere. Cap was raised to 42k

3 years later ... they are bellow 40k user line.... all thousands and thousands new users were banned.

When you get in to top tracker you get one chance...is not just another tracker that you can add to your auto-torrenting setup

Is kinda sad when someone works for years to get into tracker and few weeks after joining account is banned.
>>
>>107148236
Most top trackers don't WANT to grow much beyond the size they are. Getting too big just increases the chance of getting shut down as well as all the cost and logistical hurdles involved with running the place, if it functions well at the current size there's not much reason to scale up.
>>
>>107148181
Cause dumb shit staff, same reason why scene can trump home rips despite being inferior
>>
>>107148135
No, it's a pretty fun timesink and I regularly find myself prioritizing the GGN game over real games.
>>
>>107148268
so much for being the best game tracker. I thought I would be done with DDL when i joined ggn
>>
>>107148324
that is like downloading YIFY from HDB
>>
What is the purpose of Frankenstein Labubu? Is it used in crafting another badge?
>>
>>107148342
Fitgirl appeals to the turd world public torrenters like yify does. there's a reason why elamigos is only DDL. to filter out the poor jeets who can't debrid and multi download. They package all cracks from rune etc so it's better than scene. g4u also posts them on usenet but they get DCMA'd fast. I thought ggn would have pro gamers who know the scene
>>
>>107147007
Obviously since .in is recruiting from GGn now, HDB HAS to recruit there as well, so their precious exclusives don't get leaked ;)
>>
>>107148236

>PTP saars please redeem the new members. open the gates! aither/seedpool/blu are like my favorite tracker country canada: always accepting the new members of my beloved pooja bharati people

>>107143927
We all started on public trackers anyway, unless you are 40yo grandpa. So it's good to keep that level entry part of piracy alive and kicking, I can for sure tell you if it wasn't for kickass and the existence of public trackers I wouldn't be were I am torrenting at all. But since my experience in public tracker was a successful one I was interested in moving to private trackers. All to say it's nice to give back, since no one will start from a private tracker with all the rules and shit you need to know to not fuck it up.

Wrong Seed Size > 2TB with AVG seed time of Two Months (1500+ Hours) or AVG seed time is easy. just buy seed 2k 1kb files and like 10 aaa games you'll have that in no time. Modern hebrew is not a language but a perversion of an ancient written language conjured up because zionist conspirators hated the only other uniquely jewish language, jiddish, for it was spoken by pious jews in europe who 1) weren't capitalists like them 2) rejected zionism 3) represented authentic jewry which zionists hated as much as any contemporary antisemite.

this is why the world zionist congress had no qualms actively collaborating with the nazis in order to kill 500.000 hungarian jews. you can read the zionist account of this collosal crime in Ben hecht's perfidy or the academic modern perspective in paul bogdanor's kasztner's crime.

Compare BTN to PTP. Both are around the same age, similar prestige. Big overlaps in user base. But PTP has literally everything I want to watch and you've gotta put in some work to actually get uploads. BTN on the other hand is constantly missing stuff I look for but everything they do have has 1 million seeders.

That's the effects of having class progression be based on upload count vs snatch count. Imo BTN needs more uploads and they were right to make that change to overlord. They should require uploads for lower classes next

I have a basic VPS that I use for other things but it's clearly not suited for this, only has 40GB of storage and 500Mbps up speed. I was thinking that since I wanted to get a seedbox at some point it might be better to simply get a better VPS with similar storage and speeds as what seedbox providers offer, that way I could use it for both seeding and my other stuff
But it looks like when applying filters to make them match what the average seedbox offers, it's at best similar for the lowest offers and then as you go up, the VPS prices increase significantly faster than the seedbox prices, to the point where you quickly end up with results like in picrel, where when trying to match the specs of hostingbydesign's 3rd tier, there's only 1 option left at a reasonable price, and then it jumps directly to 90€+. And the one left in question is always some cheap-looking server in Eastern Europe, and I'd much prefer something reliable for the other stuff I want to run on it. A reputable provider like the one I'm at currently at would be best, but obviously the prices would be ridiculous with those same specs
Also, I feel like traffic limits might be a problem too? I'd have to limit how much my torrent client is using to make sure there's always enough left for my other stuff. Meanwhile most VPS offers, even basic ones can give you unlimited traffic because the speeds are much slower so I don't have to worry about this at all
Am I missing something that makes VPS a better option here? Because otherwise when considering all of this, it sounds much more worth it to get a seedbox and keep a cheap VPS on the side. It's both cheaper, more effective and much less of a headache to have them be separate
>>
>>107158809
>Am I missing something that makes VPS a better option here?
no. a seedbox is better
>>
>>107158809
yeah dont bother with trying to run a seedbox on a regular vps unless you only need a couple hundred gigs max
most companies dont offer those storage capacities and the ones that do usually really dont want you seeding on them for disk io reasons

and the ones that do have big storage, allow torrenting and are cheaper than shared seedboxes are invariably fucking awful to use with the possible exception of servarica.

>even basic ones can give you unlimited traffic because the speeds are much slower
nigger what
most vps and seedboxes are 1gbit and certainly dont have unlimited traffic lol

i'd consolidate vps and seedbox into one dedi, or just rent a dedi for use as seedbox it's definitely worth it.
you can check serverhunter or oneprovider for offers. don't worry too much about speed, 1gbit is plenty.

wait for black friday in any case
>>
most vps are 1gbit*
ofc all the seedboxes anybody bothers with are 10gbit+
though i can't fathom running plex with only 4tb storage. 1 american tv slop and there goes 20% of your capacity.

Torrenting, as the peer to peer distribution system is not going to go away, it's guaranteed to survive, either as is or within another bigger system which uses it as part of its operation.
What would revolutionize private trackers is making the file organization be distributed to everyone. Strict naming conventions that are heavily enforced and that are transmitted to everyone seeding the files automatically.
From a user's point of view, participating in a tracker would be like you're dedicating some storage to a private distributed ftp-like system. You can see the whole file hierarchy and you can choose which files to store locally, but you also let the tracker choose which files to store without your input so everything is seeded by at least X seeders and nothing goes unseeded. The files are transmitted between the peers using per-file torrent files, automatically generated and handled by the system, the user won't even know they still exist.
>>
>>107165622

Same with games that cannot be cracked, yes. Good thing by the time that happens (worst case scenario 10-15 years from now) I'll have watched all the media worth coonsoming and also stored everything in my HDDs. And for the new stuff... I guess I'll have to pay but be more selective I guess with my purchases. And yes I imagine all private trackers, usenet and other forms of piracy to die once any form of privacy ceases to exist (seriously, unlike now) and the effort for piracy and running these places a pain in the ass. We'll survive and adapt.
>>
>>107165850
A 1.5 tb SD card costs $100. A pack of 100 CDs costs $25. Flash drives are basically fucking free if you know where to look.
Be the change you want to see in the world.*
*legally ;)
>>
>>107166001
For videos they can't prevent people from ripping them. They can make it more tedious but preventing it altogether is impossible
For video games it's trickier, but even then as long as a game gets enough attention people will always find a way given enough time
>>
>>107166232
I'm not saying you are wrong, but even if that fails the way I see it, piracy will be the equivalent as being a hacker in the modern day without leaving a trace while doing so. Sure any retard can be le hackerino with the right tools, but to avoid getting caught requires being smart and that filters 99% of dumbfucks, and most won't take the risk and those who do can get caught if someone wants to because again, they are clueless. And piracy only works because it's a community effort thing. So to get out of your way to remain annonymous while trying to be a pirate in a world that everything you do will be monitored an used against you (think like china, but much worse), then yeah most people won't bother with piracy anymore and piracy will die out. I truly believe the world that will rule us will be heavy on authoritarianism. I hope I'm wrong though.

I'm sure some of the people who idle there have logs turned on, it's dirt simple. They aren't posted anywhere for the public. I have logs for the last month or so since I idle there, but I don't keep them longer than a month

I don't feel like making my presence known for the first time since I joined 10 years ago. I just wanted to know if the tracker has IPv6 turned on, and if not, could it?
I've searched the forums and saw a dead suggestion, and I don't feel like searching the last 10 years of dev blogs manually. I looked on the github as well but I can't actually tell if that commit enabled IPv6 or not. /hsg/'s No NAT November inspired me to finally go dual stack on my home stuff.

don't hold your breath. pretty stupid, i'm sure it could be made to work, they are just lazy. i hate how people seem to hate ipv6 just because, even though i have written software that can handle both ipv4 and 6 just fine in C.

Then how does staff know if someone offered you an invite privately?
>>
>>107167832
Can you post one? Just curious.
It doesn't have to be the worst one on there, just a sample.

Suppose I want to download a movie in high quality as its a movie I plan on keeping indefinitely.
Without wasting time comparing various releases, what is the smartest way of picking a release? Should I check for whatever meets my resolution needs and has the most seeders on HDB and just go with that? And if HDB somehow doesn't have the content I should do the same thing on PTP?
>>

just grab hdb internal

I just mean that I think america already has institutional problems they cannot correct with any measurable efficiency and that will only continue to get worse, piracy being included.

Isn't it possible there is some other release that is better? Especially if it's an older film.

Because of stuff like:
>Matching the location behind the invite seller's IP address, yours and the other people the seller might've invited, if they are all from different countries then that's considered suspicious and I believe that the invite rules of most private trackers state that you can only invite people you know IRL, so meeting randoms online does not mean that you can just invite them because then this kind of location check would not work.
>Certain countries are considered more high risk in general (e.g. India), because they are often a part of invite buying. This is why certain countries are banned from signing up at all on some private trackers.
>Cabal trackers all share this info with each other so that makes it harder not to ever make any mistake, e.g. forgetting to turn on your residential VPN connection or whatever you'd use. Remember, most of them don't allow you to register with a VPN because they want to know your (general) location to combat invite sellers/buyers and popular commercial VPN providers will not help you when it comes to this kind of stuff because their server IPs are all known.
There's probably more that they do but I'm not someone that has or will ever buy or sell an invite or anything like that so I don't have to care about it, I'm just interested enough to think about this kind of stuff.

Take a look at the fanservice in the posts on the homepage. You can see stuff like that but also more lewd stuff. Don't worry nobody is posting anything illegal (unless you're from a 3rd world shithole I guess), just lots of nice 2d artworks.

i just asked grok to solve this and it did

No, I don't think that will happen. A lot of companies WISH this would happen, but I don't think it will.
DRM only serves to punish the people who pay, and those people are fed up with the way things already are. Over the past few years, there has been a resurgence in the interest for physical media and DRM-free products thanks to corporate greed.

I cannot see a future where we would lack these things, not without a strong piracy scene such as the one from the early 2000s

Oh, I see. Yeah, good luck ameribros. I'm not sure what will happen in the future, but do weather this storm, alright? It'll be worth it, in the end.
