How the fuck do I turn my default browser to Google.com?
>>
My phone (galaxy A26) fell in the floor and now the display doesn't turn on, even though it has no scratches or any visible damage neither in the inside or the outside of the phone.

The technician said that its probably a issue in the display, and that I would need to replace it. I am going to look for a second and third opinion, but I would like to know what do you guys think might be the issue. And also how do I look for decent third party screens

I have an AM5 motherboard and everyone told me I should update my bios before installing my CPU.
What's wrong with installing the CPU first and then updating the bios? Would the bios not update correctly? could there be any damage to the CPU?

I'm confused by what you mean. Do you want to change the start page? That's the tab below the default browser on the left.

It probably just won't boot and you'll have to take everything apart and redo the thermal paste.

Because you're inserting a CPU that isn't in the firmware's catalog and motherboards aren't retard proof at this level.

I was able to do it on windows by using the Windhawk mod "Chrome UI Tweaks" and adding the brave executable to the mod's inclusion list (since it only targets chrome.exe by default)
It can reduce padding in context menus too. You can't remove certain items liek you can with firefox css unfortunately

The only problem with Windhawk is that it is kinda scary since it works by process injection and is therefore a security nightmare

How can "brand new" macbooks like these be sold this cheap? It's not the first time I've seen them. They have to be stolen, right? or is there some legit way for someone to sell at this price and make a profit? VAT scams? bulk buying with edu discounts? or is it money laundering?
>>
>>107167531
how much do you think they should be?
>>
>>107167594
they cost like $2500 on the apple website. I'm not sure how you could legitimately get a M4 macbook brand new at such a price than selling it under $1000 would net you a profit.
>>

>>
>>107167632

>>107167760
I meant pounds, not usd dollars. i couldn't bother to type the pound symbol. It's 2500 pounds new, they're selling it for less than 1000 pounds. Even if it was usd it's still suspiciously cheap. Why are you being so obtuse? are you just retarded or are you the person actually selling these?

Anyway this is 100% a scam. Look at the seller's feedback and what he does is basically buy small things from big ebay stores to get enough positive feedback as a buyer to then trick people into thinking he's legit. https://www.ebay.co.uk/fdbk/feedback_profile/ruogbo0?user_context=BUYER

I have both flac and mp3 versions of the same songs.

Should I just delete the mp3 versions? Is there any advantage it does better, like being able to transfer to other devices or something?

Also - is there a good Windows's program to change folder images? Tried FolderIco and not impressed
>>
>>107170699
You can re-generate the mp3 files from the FLAC files, some music library programs can do conversion + transfer in one step.
In my experience the mp3s add up in size, so I started removing them but now it's a lot of work to sift through bc they're interleaved with the FLACs.
>>
I know this must have been said a million times but I don't understand how in YouTube Music don't take the music videos out of the album lists and put them in a separate list. Many times the music videos have other sounds that are not part of the song. Sometimes I make a new playlist only with the songs but having to do that all the time for each album I listen it's a nuisance.

I had problems earlier >>107071352 with these files for loud house as well, although that was season 1 but I suppose season 2 also has issues. the earlier episodes had subs automatically show up but from ep20 onwards they just don't work
I also tried a couple different movies on mpc and despite it having ''preferred' subtitles on, it doesn't work and I still have to manually select it (pic). it works fine on vlc for the same file so I think I'm sadly sticking with vlc. (and the movie subs working fine on vlc also confirms it for me that the loud house episodes are just broken)

What is the max speed in gbps I can get with that?

Trying to determine if it's worth getting a 2.5gbps, 5gbps, or even a 10gbps network switch to use with my NAS: the ethernet cables running through my walls are already 10gbps but if my laptop's network card and physical ethernet port (which I know is only 1gbps) can't also support 10gbps, then me getting a 10gbps network switch to connect the NAS to the home network is pointless, right?

I'm having trouble understanding Subnet masks and want to make sure my current line of thinking is right.
Basically, from my understanding right now, I try to think of them as street addresses and counties. Is that line of thinking correct, and does it allow for two devices to have the same IP address on the same network? For example, device 1 has an IP 192.168.1.42 Subnet Mask 255.255.0.0, while device 2 has the IP Address 192.168.1.42, Subnet Mask 255.255.255.0.
Kind of like how two different locations share the same address with 101 Main Street in Alpha County and 101 Main Street in Bravo county.
If I'm wrong, just explain to me like I'm retarded.

The filter media doesn't have to be HEPA, can just be high density filter media. And you can get the filter media as a cloth in a roll sometimes.

You can just get a fan and one filter but that does not work as well as the bigger corsi-rosenthal box setup in the long term.

>You can just get a fan and one filter but that does not work as well as the bigger corsi-rosenthal box setup in the long term.
I've made the single filter fans before. They work just as well as the 4 filter box style ones. Unfortunately you gotta crank it up to full speed. At full speed the 1 filter design worked just as well as a full speed 4 filter design. Only problem is the sound.
Don't care about sound and want to save some money, go with one filter on max speed.
Care about sound and want to spend more money, then go with 4 filter design. I think even the 2 filter design in a triangle performs just as well.
I also live in Canada so we we produce a lot of these filters since we need it. A 20x20x1 MERV13 filter is around $31CAD. I don't run it 24/7 so it usually lasts me 6 months. But I don't even need a MERV13, a MERV8 works for me and a 4 pack costs $13CAD. And I don't mind running that 24/7.
>>
>>107176103
>What is the max speed in gbps I can get with that?
Only you can test and find out since every environment is different and we don't know the capabilities of your AP and laptop WiFi modules.
I can assure you that it won't exceed 1 Gbit/s data rate unless the AP is in the same room and your laptop has some overengineered WiFi configuration (highly unlikely).
If you care about speed then you have no choice but to use a cable with your laptop.

Zip is way better than the tar garbage, but for historical reasons we ended up stuck with compressed tar.
Tar has no concept of an index so you have to transfer the whole archive just to list its contents. This obviously only works for very small archives.

the op not containing https would cause the thread to be filtered
ive tried (!?.*https).+ or whatever and nothing isn't working. im doing the inverse by checking if it does contain the string and pushing those to the top

>>107179205
add the s flag to your regex so that the dot matches newlines as well (so it can scan past the first line)
>>
>>107179261
Oh right that wasn't it :P

>>107179205
The 4chanX filter:
/^(?!.*https).*$/s;type:subject+comment;

I suppose the ^$ and even the s flag are unnecessary but whatever

The solution I found was because of the mixed up !? - ?! is the negative lookahead. I also needed to use the 4chanX type:subject+comment so that both are checked at once instead of checking either separately (which is wrong for this filter)

I've got two large capacity spinning disks for backup/archive purposes, mirroring each other. I usually leave both of them powered up all the time, because I frequently copy fresh stuff I've downloaded off to them, and I want to keep them both consistent with each other so I don't suddenly lose weeks of Youtube crap to a crash if I only left one hot. They're on SATA-to-USB doohickeys connected to a cheap little laptop running Linux, both drives sitting external just out in the air on my desk.

Yesterday, while NOT IN USE but just spinning, one of the two drives suddenly began making bursts of drive-head-moving noises, four or five louder-than-normal clunks per second for up to around thirty or forty seconds at a time. Then it would only make an occasional clunk, then go silent again.

The noise-making drive is a Western Digital 18TB, about two years old, it's probably been up and running for about 18 months of actual runtime, generally in months-long sessions (not on-and-off constantly).

Note that these are on a dedicated computer, nothing is running on it that should be accessing them at random, it's a clean Linux install never connected to the internet so there aren't any viruses unless Debian 12's installation ISO was infected at the source.

Is this a sign that the drive is dying? Are the sudden bursts of access noise some sort of "click of death"?

The device will still be flashing like it's trying to pair while the device is shown on the list of bluetooth devices saying it's connected. Physical damage is a strong possibilty if it worked before the impact. There's lots of really tiny physical parts, won't take much to fuck them.

What would you call 'decent'? Unless you replace it with what was in there, expect differences in colour replication etc. Have you tried to search for the phone model + OEM screen ?? That'd be my first shout, tho unlikely to produce the cheapest results.

Consider, however, how easily that fucked up. Don't you think it'd be 'better' to put that same money towards something not quite as fragile?

Make the account, not using your phone?

Tho, when you log into the phone using that account it'll be raping that data hard and adding to that account... So I have to question what it is you think you're gaining here.

Nuke the phone and install something like grapheneOS or maybe lineageOS, and you *might* stand a chance of seperating the phone from screwgle. But if you're then going to start unsing everything screwgle in there, why bother? and if you're not, why would you need the account?

These are all things you should have thought about before stepping into someone else's closed wall garden. The question is, will you learn?

the subnet mask of 255.255.0.0 or /16 would mean that both values in the .0.0 octets would be the range of devices that will be able to be assigned a network space. /16 mask means there are 65356 total network addresses available to be leased
>>
>>107185807
IE, a 255.255.0.0 and a 255.255.255.0 would cause a network address error.

255.255.255.0 or /24 means that there are only 256 total available network addresses, (0-255)

these small masks are common in homes on 192.168.x.x local addresses

basically, the more devices you want to put on the network, you have to start subnetting because there literally isn't space for the devices if you have more than 256 unique hosts to connect

I can't really decide what to install on my new 2in1 Framework 12, I am replacing my iPad 12.9in 2TB with a more free device and so far I like it a lot. But I can't really decide if I want to use Linux on it long term or if I should stick to Windows, would go with either Enterprise or IoT LTSC and for Linux I tried Fedora KDE and Ubuntu (their version of Gnome) and Gnome is like perfect for that form factor, they were prepping for 2in1 stuff for 10 years and the 1% of people that use it like that should feel blessed by the foot.

Benefit of Windows is Visual Studio (I am dotnet dev), real Office and OneDrive integration. Linux is just faster, less bloat, better updates, software repositories etc. I could get by with just VS Code for my personal projects. RClone would work for OneDrive I guess. Less telemetry is another benefit.

Both will work, but I just can't decide right now. Did I miss something, and any opinions?

More important is the screen tech in my opinion, Mini Led or Oled is so much better than just IPS, I would rather go for a better panel than size.

Your millage could vary if you only watch 4k content, I don't, so it could just be me bottlenecking my TV. To use my university's wifi I have had to use a proxy set up script and download/trust a certificate, etc.
That has worked fine but when I connect to other networks like my home wifi, edge then becomes unbearable slow on start up, and other public networks don't work at all.
This is fixed if I turn off the "use set up script" in the proxy options (windows 11 home btw), but then I have to manually turn it back on if I want to use the uni wifi.

Is there a way to assign the set up script to one specific connection, or a way to turn it off automatically on my home connection and on automatically for my uni?

You can be sure of this, how?

I mean the PC starting fine, not the lack of graphics output.

As for the iGPU, it's usually an option in the BIOS but actually switching it off is rare, usually the best you can do is stop it stealing RAM.

The time wasted in diagnostics of the issue is likely to be beaten by just getting another cheap machine, and extracting the data from the HD.

I saw a network switch that only has a single 10GBPS port and then a few 2.5gbps ports... What's the point of only having a single 10gig port like that?

A switch essentially acts as a splitter or intermedirary for multiple devices, right? So if you have device A connected to the switch via the 10gig port, then the switch connected to device B, C, and D through say 2.5gig ports, won't B, C, and D be limited to 2.5gbps still? So why not just have the single 10gbps port be a 2.5gig one?

What am I missing here?
>>
>>107191705
Just think about what happens if B, C and D talk to A at the same time?
They can max out their 2.5gbps connection yet A still has capacity to spare for other shit.
It's usually used for uplink ports to other switches with more ports or other high value targets.
>>
I miss Windows widgets.
I used to see news, weather, and stock prices on the widget.
What’s the best way to get that on Windows 11 IoT LTSC in a non-spyware way that also uses minimal RAM a nd CPU?
>>
>>107191705
you use the 10Gbit/s port for an uplink to another switch or a server, that way each of the 2.5Gbit/s devices can access the 10Gbit/s stuff at their full speed at the same time
so like imagine a NAS attached to the 10Gb port, each 2.5Gb device can talk to the NAS at 2.5Gb simultaneously (up to four of them, at least). if they were all 2.5Gb ports then only one could talk to the NAS at 2.5Gb, if two wanted to transfer to/from the nas, then both will get ~1.25Gb instead

So 1 vs 2.5 vs 10 gbps is bandwidth, not just speed?
>>
>>107192300
Speed IS bandwidth
>>
>>107192300
it's.. the same thing. "bandwidth" only means something else when you're talking about something like a service which has a bandwidth limit per month or the like, when talking about the physical link itself, "10Gb" is both the bandwidth of the link and the top speed of the link
to use a water analogy, imagine a box with a 100mm outlet and a several 50mm outlets, internally they're connected together. the 50mm outlets can do what a 50mm pipe can do between each other, but when doing 50mm > 100mm flow, it doesn't saturate the 100m pipe, so multiple 50mm sources/sinks can flow through the 100m pipe at the same time
it's the same thing. it's why even switches with only say, gigabit ports have an internal bus capacity well over a gigabit, because you want it to be able to handle multiple gigabit>gigabit connections at the same time
>>
>>107192400
>>107192312
I guess I should have known that considering I know that's how internet speeds work and fundamentally this is just another extension of that network

It's not going to make a difference to your data.
You can attach your drive to a different computer to extract the data, there are USB adapters for any storage format.
An alternative is to boot into a live environment on your current computer and copy the files, you'll need a flash drive and either HBCD or Linux (I e Kubumtu for this). In both cases all you have to do is format the drive with FAT32 and copy all the contents of the ISO image to the drive, then reboot, enter BIOS and choose to boot from USB.

It seems my uBlock has stopped working on Youtube ASIDE from blocking ads. Win10/Brave.

Like I said it still blocks ads just fine, but I have used uBlock heavily to customize the page. Basically hide comments/heatmap/player overlays/clean up the search page from shorts and recommendations etc. Suddenly it's like none of these filters exists. Turning uBlock off/on only affects ads. If I use the element picker, add any filter, then refresh the page it pops back up immediately.

I know there are additional extensions that have some of this functionality (and I have some of them installed) but none with the versatility of custom filters on uBlock. The notable one is my search suddenly being littered with shorts again.

Still works totally fine with Arch/UBO/Librewolf on my laptop.

What could I try doing about it?

It can mess with drivers when you have two different GPUs sharing a desktop simultaneously. It works in theory, but be prepared for unexpected issues. Why not just use the proper GPU for both? The overhead is minimal if you're worried about game performance or something.
>>
>>107196036
This is a stupid answer but honestly I have mixed-and-matched USB-C and micro USB chargers for the past decade without ever checking the voltages and whatnot and never had an issue aside from something occasionally charging slower.
>>
>>107197866
>if I have two gpu, why not use both?
I've had this same thought and looked into it years ago. There is no single technical barrier preventing this. If you plug them in, Windows will display a picture on both monitors.
How well it works and whether you'll encounter problems depends on your individual GPU, your CPU, your mobo, your OS version, your driver versions, the software you'll be running...
Basically it's introducing a potential source of problems into an equation that is already fickle for minimal gain. If you're worried about "wasting" the integrated GPU you paid for, I think when I bought this CPU the version with the GPU cost 10€ more than the one without. Just let it lay there in case your GPU breaks and you need video output. That's its main use.

One feasible use case though is if you're streaming or recording gameplay, you can use the integrated GPU for video encoding. They're pretty good for that. At least Intel CPUs.
