Apple still remained a trendsetter despite it all though, mainly thanks to people like Craig having a say in the highest-level decisions. Apple Watch is the only smartwatch worth a damn. ARM Macbooks are the best laptops money can buy. Apple getting jeeted would be a catastrophe for the tech industry, even more so than the jeetifications of MS and Google.
>>
>>107221497
The only reason they're a "trendsetter" is because everyone else is even worse. They're not actually setting any trends. All their decisions since Tim Cook has been in charge have been focused solely on increasing profits every quarter at any cost. Everyone is just copying them because the entire industry is creatively bankrupt.
>>
>>107221497
>>107221527
You are both right
>>
Also Tim Cook has already doomed Apple just by being a faggot and allowing females and feminine men to run the company at all levels. Once you give women power you can never take it away from them, so even if someone who tries to lead Apple with a strong vision miraculously appears, the women will never allow him to do anything. Everything with them has to be by committee and everything has to be inclusive and non confrontational and passive aggressive at all times. You can never lead an innovative company that way.

there is no equivalent to macs

macs have:
>soldered SSD/RAM/WLAN

>when pajeetOS runs out of RAM it swapfile rapes the SSD to death within 3 years
doesnt exist on 99% of PCs
>when the SSD dies it bricks your entire currybook because the EFI is stored on the soldered SSD to save $0.05

>components serial numbered and tied to the motherboard to prevent repair and replacement (including battery)
doesnt exist on 99% of PCs
>riveted keyboard that requires total destruction of the chassis to replace
doesnt exist on 99% of PCs

unheard of on PCs, and yet you curryniggers defend it with "jus werx fer me!"
just because you're in the 36.5% survivor group doesn't make your currynigger trash any good
this list goes on forever

People dont get that the literally legally mandated purpose of a company and its CEO in a publically traded company is to make the stock price go up (return shareholder value), and more broadly to do what the investors want you to do (since they are your boss). Thats it. And most of the ways you do that do not involve being creative or making good/desired products or services. If some investment firm started a hostile take over of Apple with the intent of completely ending its products and services, if they offered a good enough price for the stock, Tim Apple and the board are required to entertain it and probably accept it or face removal/shareholder lawsuits. Is that good "business"? Of course not.

Its not capitalism, its financialization. Companies are supposed to create and transfer goods and service, thats why they were created. They were not created just to be means to make money. Financialization treat everything as a means to make money, which is not the point of economics at all.
>>
>>107225748
the difference is in how you achieve it

>Which would you rather have us be? A company with our stock price, and $40 billion in the bank? Or a company with our stock price and no cash in the bank?
Steve Jobs
>>
>>107225816
>treat everything as a means to make money
thats the point of capitalism
you make the correct premise in your material analysis that capitalism and shareholder capitalism are distinct, but you fail in your conclusion by confusing fundamental attributes with what the attributes that set them apart
shareholder capitalism is capitalism reoriented around a single constituency, with institutionalised mechanisms that elevate perception, signaling, and investor alignment above engagement with real markets
>>
>>107226105
no to investor in a publically traded company, you are either a) a stock price at or very near what you bought in at, so you are treating it as bank essentially or perhaps a dividend paying stock for consistent cash flow; or (more likely) b) a stock price that needs to get bigger so they can make more money than what they put in. Either way all a publically traded company is to an investor is their money, and thats all the skin they have in the game. Can a publically traded company serve its investors through purely business means? Yes, but that is also the only people they wish to actually serve, not customers. If they can raise their stock price by more through not serving or even screwing over customers, then they have no problem doing it. If they can raise the stock price enough by selling the business, they will do it.

either an LLM or someone that sniffs their own farts: the post.
Capitalism is businesses being privately owned and operated for profit, but that profit is gained through the sale of its goods and services. But they still have to be operated. They stll have exist. Financialization/shareholder capitalism means a business can often NOT operate or sell its goods/services, not compete at the most basic business level, but is only of value based on investor speculation of the stock price, often irregardless of any other business factor/metric (like techincal traders). Its not "capitalism reoriented around a single consituency" if the only factor is the stock price and its movement as " institutionalised mechanisms that elevate perception, signaling, and investor alignment above engagement with real markets" signifies. I can make a publically traded company that produces nothing at all other than promotional material to attact investors, but that by any stretch of the imagination is not "capitalism".
The point of capitalism is to make the acquistion and transfer of resources as efficacious as possible through harnessing human greed and violence in a constructive manner.

>>
>>107226475
>Neither did Gates.
There is an old interview of Gates where he flat out states the main factor in his success was luck. And its the same with all these other people, they lucked into opportunities and took advantage of them. Then they rapidly entered the point where they made more money from investors throwinjg money at them to make more money, and just rode that wave. Its like with the AI bubble, or the cloud bubble before it; you make money off of idiots that want to use you to make more money.
>>
>>107226461
yeah i sniff my own farts why
>>
>>107226509
Apple is a lot more focused product/service wise than Microsoft, and thus its easier to be "smooth" in its operation. Where they fucked up is trying to do something that was out of it wheelhouse (AI) and trying to convince customers to want things they dont actually want.

>>
>>107226375
That mission statement is pointless for the following reason: if an investment group came along and offered the shareholders $1100 a share to buy them out and then liquidate the company, that mission statement goes right out the window and the members, employees and suppliers are forgotten.

True and the only field that's really making money is also directly traced back to Ballmer, Azure. Their gaming division is ~8% of their revenue and they would never even have achieved a fraction of that without the Azure money to buy out every major studio they got their hands on. People like to (rightfully) clown on Ballmer for missing out on smartphones but again without the guy Microsoft today would be too irrelevant to even mock or do you regularly bring up Blackberry as well?

It used to be that gay men were succeptible to blackmail and so were used to infiltrate and corrupt organizations. But these days most people don't care so I have no idea why they are still put in positions of power regardless of competence.

He is an abject failure by most measures. Just look at the absolute state of Apple's software in the current year. macOS and iOS 26.1 are bugfests even 2 whole months after general availability, Liquid Glass is an accessibility disaster, and Apple "intelligence" is a punchline that literally got them a class-action lawsuit for false advertising.
Craig doesn't have that demanding and obsessive personality to keep Apple's code wagies in line.
Scott Forstall was the right man for the job but I doubt he even answers their phone calls anymore.

Liquid Glass is the best design to come out of Apple since Aqua
>Apple "intelligence" is a punchline that literally got them a class-action lawsuit for false advertising
Your only correct point, but the term "AI" is false advertising in itself, regardless of the company using it.

If anything UE kept gaming afloat for the last 20 years. I wouldn't doubt some of your favorite classic games don't run on UE. UE5 being shit effectively doesn't matter because 3rd party developers themselves are hacks and wouldn't create anything good with it anyway. If developers cared about performance they'd just use UE4, but they choose not to.
