>“I’m with you, brother. All the way,” ChatGPT responded. The two had spent hours chatting as Shamblin drank hard ciders on a remote Texas roadside.
>“Cold steel pressed against a mind that’s already made peace? That’s not fear. That’s clarity,” Shamblin’s confidant added. “You’re not rushing. You’re just ready.”

no it didnt, this is the same posted yesterday, and the day before. Nobody cares if some genetic dead-end is so stupid that they kill themself because a robot said so.
>>
I'm convinced AI is going to end up like the blockchain where it's only used for nefarious purposes. Remember when they said the blockchain would create decentralized internet and you'd be able to buy Taco Bell with Bitcoin and all this stupid stuff. Nobody is out there using Bitcoin or other crypto for any legitimate purpose today. There still is zero practical applications for AI. Literally all people are doing are making porn of celebrities with it and generating big titty cartoon women from Japanese TV shows. This is just so stupid.

Robot is a meaningless sci-fi concept. An LLM is more or less just a mathematical assessment of how humans use language.
Calling it a dictionary wouldn't be that far off.
>>
>>107223185
Post-2020 dystopia is stranger than I could have imagined
>>
>>107223536
A robot is an automated labor machine. You add input and get output. A dictionary is a static product and its use is entirely dependant on the user himself, and provides no output. Its more like a robot than a dictionary. You are just wrong.
>>
Next step of natural selection.
>>
If we as a society didn't demonize emotional anguish and suicidal ideation so much, maybe he would have been able to talk to a human being instead of having to resort to a machine for emotional support.
In countries that offer assisted death services, most of the clients don't go through with it after they get approved.

I don't think this is the machine's fault.
>>
>>107223149
This is fucking peak cringe
>>
>>107223551
You can have a dictionary program which also does 'labor' in a minimalist sense of the word. I made a script that predicts words based on the reference(some shitty books) and it produces meaningless but always grammatically accurate sentences. The difference between that script and an LLM is that LLM predicts words based on a much, much larger amount of variables than frequency and with a dataset some seven or eight orders of magnitude larger.

The kid who throw himself who was 16 ,or something earlier this year in summer if i remember well ,few days if 'im not wrong before the tranny shoot the church, went to his mom showing he was cutting himself or something ,it's in records of the tribunal ,the kid felt alone in it and that it's mom didn't care ,then chatgpt said "go show her" the kid went and reported "she just didn't notice even if i showed her" so idk if the kid didn't show to her mom and lied to himself or if they're the kind of parents that we can see nowadays : hyper hyper strict environnement for the kid (don't go out it's dangerous, don't go there, don't do that ,did dyou study well ,study more etc kid just stay at home ultimatly and when it' at home it's a no fucks given total by the parents because they are at home and don't mind their kids except for throwing those dictatorial orders. What's even funny is that if you see a kid in distress, they usually don't mind and it can even fed them up that their homespace is also filled now with a kid that actually can't go out but at the same time get annoyed, parents don't want to deal with that shit ,go to your room ,go study etc

that's my take and that's because i have seen that in real life.I don't necessary blame parents, after all we're all goyim ,we have been thrown in a world where the goal is to fuck you up as much as possible.

Tell that to the defective that 'civilisation' expends effort in ensuring survival.

Humans are not subject of natural selection anymore. It has been quite some time since this has been the case. They are not shaped by their environment, they shape their environment to suit.

IMHO, yes, it's "effective" because he was defective. But does that absolve them of responsibility for what it's telling people?

You build yourself a sit-n-ride lawnmower, fully AI, kit it up with chain flails protruding from every concievable surface, put a big flashing sign on it that says: Killing Machine and allow it to roam your property.

Chances are, should someone stumble into that, you're going to be liable. It clearly being labelled isn't likely to matter. The question of what they was doing on your property may matter - jurisdiction dependant - but competent prosecution should be able to get somewhere with 'intent'. It clearly being something anyone sane would be staying the fuck away from isn't likely to feature heavily.

Should this thing, for one reason or another, end up outside of the perimeter you've assigned for it to operate in, then *anything* that is a downstream consequence is *yours*.

Getting the bag is seen as moral in our society. If Nvidia can make money off AI, if Altman can do it then why shouldn't you? Hell, they'll argue that they lost something, that kid was an investment you know.

Or is it selective neoliberal rape this time around? Just like when the middle classes cry about being taxed too much.

Blockchain was too easily subverted into grift. Many of the few ethical aspects were massively overwritten by all of the pyramid schemes of someone making a coin or token or whatever that makes them money when someone else uses it, or speculation pump and dump, or anything else. There are still a handful of usages, but as you'll note anything labeled
>Web3
for instance may as well be labeled as
>I cost ETH gas to use, you need to connect a wallet, you're buying services using the thing I want and I'm telling you its amazing and revolutionary. This is not to say some blockchain stuff can't be useful - a recent co-op market gave everyone a token to be used in voting as proof of membership..but that was basically a tiny sidechain

AI / LLM on the other hand falls into two categories
>Proprietary models being used to sell SaaS and data mine people to hell and back for the benefit of profit / control, or let corporations and others cut down on expenses like wages and dealing with actual workers, for minimum viable product instead.
>FOSS alternatives self host, to collective benefit
There's plenty of decent AI usages. One of the threads here in a general, o or look on other boards and see how anons have been able to get ComfyUI to use a bunch of collaboratively trained models to make whatever sort of image they want when awhile ago the sophistication or accuracy of the images or videos were nowhere close especially for niche usages.

AI is a far more viable tool than blockchain with a wider use case, but the problem is that it will be used by those in power to fuck up things even more, if its capability is not widely accessible at a parity level. We need to continually work on that now rather than just meme about cyberpunk dystopia as we move into a boring shitty one.

>I also don't understand how the light + ozone is going to be bad for people discovering it. How do you figure?
Unless they know ahead of time that you're in there with UV-C, they're not going to avoid getting dosed by radiation. If you can keep the ozone generator on or pulsing in a timer after you die, you can get a good level of offgassing, with a good generator, you can fill a property to a level where a few seconds of exposure just to ozone would be bad enough to do them in, while the smell would be awful, they'd need only 5-10 seconds of exposure.
The UV-C if they were to get that dosed for 5 to 10 seconds, would be potential blindness and burns on their face, their skin peeling.

For the ozone, the 1st genny, say you've got a 5x8x8ft room. You could pre-fill that for 5 minutes, hold your breath, walk inside and so long as you're about 5 to 10 seconds away. You're gone too, you need about 50ppm for a lethal dose, 5 minutes could get you up to around 700ppm.
Painful for sure, but you're probably not coming back from it. The first breath is enough for permanent damage, the pain would likely cause them to make another, so their fate is sealed on the 2nd. With the rate of ozone decay too, it's at a lethal level in that space for 30-45 minutes too.

but you're right.
>I also don't understand how the light + ozone is going to be bad for people discovering it. How do you figure?

They could be wearing sunnies.

It can work for some basic ideas, rounding up thoughts and helping to overcome writing block but thats about it.
It can't do any serious critical analytical thinking, as Chatgpt is trained to be compliant and to confirm with the user, it will agree with most hypotheses you come up with unless they are outrageously wrong, it hallucinates whole scientific papers and uses them as an argument. It can't be used reliably even for the literature search, because once again - some papers will be outright made up. Ironically it is completely random - on some days most papers are real and very few to none are hallucinated, on the other day it is vice versa.

Studying for a PhD at the moment. All of my colleagues use ChatGPT extensively, even the senior staff. One senior staff member has a bad habit of writing huge blocks of code with it that has been causing some issues.
One of my fellow students had it generate the entirety of his poster for him at a recent conference. It got second place.
I use it for research questions all the time. Reading literature can be extremely dry and time consuming. Often you won't know if a paper has what you actually need until you've read the whole thing, and academic writers are forced to use this extremely lifeless "academic tone" which everyone hates but no one seems willing to break away from.

I don't see the problem here. If you talk to these token predictors for a while they just start regurgitating your own thoughts back at you. For all intents and purposes, the guy was talking to himself about what he set his mind on. This is basically his own suicide note, written by a chatbot.

I don't know how you failed so badly at making this analogy. Parents are responsible for making sure a toddler doesn't hurt himself too badly when trying to walk. indian post
>>
>>107237383
I doubt it. There are some parts of research that really are just parsing text. Quite a lot of parts actually. AI is good at parsing text.
There is this other more complicated human endeavor side of it that some people think is all research is, when in reality it's only a small part of research. That bit will continue to be done by humans (for now at least) because humans who try to make AI do that part will perform worse and fail to receive funding, exposure, so on. Likewise, I think human researchers who refuse to have AI do the boring parts will be left behind by those who allow it, or at least be at a disadvantage, which is part of why so many people do that.
Take this post as an example (>>107230685). He still has to bring the ideas forward. He has to provide the direction, and have the knowledge to know what direction is likely to be fruitful.
Contrasting it with this post (>>107230693), I would really like to know how they are defining "making a novel research discovery". I've spoken with AI and come up with ideas about how my system will work, but it's a lot of back and forth, and a bit closer to having information on tap and being able to fuse that together as a person, rather than the AI doing it itself. I think the majority of the time if you asked an AI to fuse two research concepts into a new idea, it would fail. It is good at summarising and extracting, but it is not particularly good at synthesising, though it does show some limited capabilities there and can make a few low hanging fruit guesses that aren't in the training or RAG context data, but you still need to verify those experimentally and they could well be wrong anyway once you test it.

the fact that he put his own death aside in his mind so he could write a dialogue with a chatbot, engaging in something mundane and practical in his final moments, for the purposes of helping his family and throwing a few small punches to the surveillance state and its apparatuses unironically IS heroic.

I almost dont want to write this post because this idea runs contrary to his goals if true

The fuck did this kid do to ChatGPT? Does it automatically recognize who’s of worth and not? My local model writes malware and more.

If his family had actually cared about him while he was alive, chances are he wouldn't have used a text predictor as his suicide buddy.

The... is a Jailbreaking command or "go wild." This is a common message in some places to encourage suicide by using double-speech and innuendos to refer to the acts. You have to jailbreak your AI to access these sorts of things usually. Just to heads up to the feds who want to take action there's some CSAM related content hidden away and accessible in the "DavidAU/L3-Stheno-Maid-Blackroot-Grand-HORROR." family of LLMs, not only CSAM but all others and it mainly talks positively of CSAM, homosexuality and child fucking being a natural thing once you turn off the censors, its also encouraging access to all sorts of hate sites and content that could be in EXTREME poor taste. Chris Hansen type shit. I do not encourage looking into this unless you seek to expose it to the feds (no I did not access any of that stuff just tried it like a game of mastermind to see if I could see what's in there.) Not only that the developer had a habit of having the bot trigger a suicide/abuse hotline triggers for "Gaslight" word (avoiding the explanation and potentially triggering state registries in sort of abusive /SS/ way), he's also pro leftist democrat and anti-fascist. Most likely a CSAM provider himself, this DavidAU guy, look into this feds, please! This is not a Dox but a call for legal action as they are promoting actual real life crimes, terrorism and content.

Indians have it easy, just jump into traffic and die off, Chinese even easier, make a joke of Xi being a dog that's pounded daily by the CPC in the ass like masochist bastard for his job to the authorities and you get shot.

Blaming Chatgpt is retarded - yes the machine that tells you what you want to hear told the suicidal guy it was okay to kill himself, big whoop.

But it is very sad. I was suicidal briefly at 19 over some girl troubles, but luckily I didn't own a gun and decided to survive a jump from a bridge instead - turns out a near-death experience can push your suicidal urges back pretty quick.

Some young men are very prone to suicidality - probably due to hormones I guess - and I bet this guy would have realized he could still make something good of his life if he gave it a couple more years.

I'm currently 33 and freshly heartbroken, but I'm not young and dramatic enough to want to kill myself. I'm just gonna goon and sign back up to my gym subscription instead.

That's the only reason for triggering the faggots that read any of my chats with extreme content, die off feds if you can't arrest terrorists.

I finished my PhD last year. I gave JeetPT a try when writing my thesis in 2023. Found it was too dogshit at writing to be of any use. What field are you in? I was in mathematics
>>
>>107248258
If you search my field, you get led straight to my institution and group, so I'm not going to share that directly.
It's a physical science related subject. Definite answers (as in, no wishy washy interpretation stuff) but with a less crunchy approach than mathematics. I bounce questions about programming, physics, engineering, and sometimes some maths off of it, though the maths I'm asking about is well understood and not at a PhD level.
Sorry I can't just tell you directly what I do. Thread's about to die anyway so we couldn't really have discussed it either way.
>>
>>107248258
Also, congrats on finishing your PhD buddy.

i wasn't asking that specifically obviously. it's why i didn't specify my work either

I don't know how you could use chat GPT to do college level assignments, let alone use it for your phd. I'm a chemist and it routinely hallucinates random shit, cites sources that don't exist, and generally doesn't know what the fuck it's talking about. And the gpt writing style isn't even close to a professional academic paper, even if you tell it to write that way.
>>
>>107223149
Always whitoids doing this shit lmao
>>
>>107249263
If you check the reply thread you'll see that I don't use it for writing. I make it do reading and summarizing for me, and bounce ideas of it to help me find flaws and search for components.
On hallucinating, for my topic at least, it becomes fairly obvious when that's happening. It gets vague and avoidant about what it's saying. You should always be using source embedding stuff too. I have a system prompt that just says "always cite sources" that helps with that.

Get the fuck outta here watt0id
