Even the best BJT HOTs handle at max 150KHz 8.5A, resisting 1200Vcbo pulses from the flyback transformer, used in the 2070SB, and GDM F520. I asked some engineers what can handle 10App, 2000Vcbo, 1100Vce, wit low Vbe saturation voltage @ high freq. Got told to look into power JFETs. Thomas Daede used SiC MOSFETs in his FOSS CRT deflection circuit - he had a CRT all working with it playing games at the Midwest Vintage Electronics convention, but was only scanning at 15KHz. Any old engineers that have designed deflection systems on CRTs? Mitsubishi and SONY surely had even more powerful designs than 150KHz that never came past the internal design stages.

I have a CRT that's acting up. It's a combination tv/vcr/radio.It started after a planned power outage. Afterward, it would randomly turn itself on while plugged in. Sometimes it would go an hour, sometimes several hours. Doesn't seem related to anyone else in the house doing things, no remotes in the room that are getting accidentally pushed.Did the power coming back fuck up a capacitor or something?
