An incredibly talmudic thread.
Still need it to play roguelikes without resorting to brain-damaged vim cursor mapping

speaking of roguelikes, elona and the elona+ mod got me into the genre, it's a shame they are windows only. dcss is good but not the same vibe. cataclysm (dda and bn) scratch the same itch but lack the whimsy and perma-grinding>>107234639generative ai

>>107234639Much faster and more ergonomic way to type numbers than the 1-0. Good place to bind scripts and macros.
>>107234639numpad does have use cases.. as opposed to your dick, faggot
do people actually use the top row for typing numbers??
>>107235448My numbers are on the home row.
>>107235591That's even worse
>>107234639If you're autistic enough to care about SSK cooler master solved this problem by combining the navcluster and numpad into one and using the numlock key to toggle between the two.https://youtu.be/ksMYG9NsNMY

>>107234639Numpad can be real useful for roguelike games, using a calculator, can make playing soundboards easier. OP is just a (you) farmer...

>yes I already have 61 keys, but... you don't understand, I NEED another 17 keys for macros.>What, use a layer like Fn + alphabet keys for my macros? Are you crazy? I NEED one dedicated physical key for each macro.>What, I can already move in each of the 8 directions with alphabet keys? No no no, this won't work, you see, because they are staggered. I NEED my movement keys to be orthogonal.>What do you mean, I can put my left index finger on 4 and my right index finger on 7 and type numbers really fast? Noooo, I NEED to be able to type in numbers with one hand, I just have to, okay? What is this mental illness called?
if you're doing any work with numbers greater than 2 or 3 digits, a number pad enables you to work significantly faster. you neets don't do work though so I can see why you find it useless
>>107239311>What is this mental illness called?Obsessing over what other people do has no clinical diagnosis, oh wait you meant..
>>107239344No one said a numpad is useless. A keyboard with a numpad is the useless tech. It's like a trackball, it has its uses, but I don't want that on my keyboard, just buy a separate one.
>>107234639>right-numpad is sold for right-handers>left-numpad is sold for left-handersI get that the keyboard pre-dates computer mice, but why the fuck are we still doing this? The numpad not only crowds the mouse area, but it's easier to use left-handed as a right-handed person. If anything something like picrel is the ideal full-featured compact board for righties.
