What's the best split keyboard for programming in vim? Looking at Sufle V2 right now
>>107235853programming influencers were a mistake
No idea about vim but Sofle is a good keyboard with a good amount of keys to start with.
>>107235853Pic rel is the one i use, really great for the money
>>107235968too few keys for my taste. i don't think it will work well with vim motions that use numbers or special characters
What is that Daedric?
>>107235853this is some magical audiophile hydrogen isolated cable level shit, and probably costs even more in comparisondoes anyone unironically use stuff like this?
>>107235853Dactyl with Colemak layout.
>>107235853I bought a wireless sofle v2 on ali with the 11.11 sale for 60 bucks, cant wait for it to arrive
>>107236289it's clear you've never tried a split keyboard before. enjoy your hump and arthritis
>>107235853I've got an ergodox EZ, it's nice but I ultimately went back to a normal keyboard with software-based (keyd) layout, layers etc as I like to use laptops and switching hurt my brain.
>can't use my palm to press ctrlinto the trash it goes61 keys is still the way to go, although I really like the idea of split keyboards
>>107237961true, I didn'tI also have been using PCs daily since 1991 and have none of the medical problems you suggest
>>107235853If I had to write anything but assembly in vim I'd probably just kill myself. I'm sure it's great for just lines upon lines upon lines.
>>107239086>palm to press ctrlthe shit emacs does to people lmao
>>107240011What more do you need?
i want something between the sufle and corne, i want those extra keys at the bottom and sides but i don't much care for the number row. i'd rather have a 3x3 number grid in one of the layers
I've been experimenting with using 2 azeron keyzen's (one left, one right). Although this might not be the best choice for Linux as their software is Windows only
>>107235853>not magnetic switchinto the trash it goes
>>107235853you don't really have a lot of choices.I use a helix but you should get something with column stagger.I could not live without a number row.I find the lack of function keys a bit annoying for compile and run and whatever other buttons that need them, which are part of vscode; I use vscode with vim motions.Regardless I'm never going back to non-split and no thumb key.
>>107235853I bought a sofle v2 back in... July? The shop never delivered it, made excuses, and now is trying to get me to cancel my paypal dispute by creating a shipping label but never actually delivering the product lol. I think I'll design my own keyboard. I would like an extra row up top for escape and f keys.

>>107239086Me ctrl is just on d and k.
>>107243725I don't get why people hate layers so much. Even if I had 200 keys I would still use layers and no more than 3 rows, it's not like I have a small keyboard to have more space on my desk, my desk is big enough. I use my f keys much more now that they are just 1 row above the home row. Just num layer + i to step over in the debugger, much quicker thsn moving my hand 3 rows up.
Which split ortho diy keyboard is worth trying? Aiming for the smaller side.
>>107243912Ferris Sweep is a classic for small ones. Totem also looks very good.
>>107235853dactyl manuform
>>107235853I type this on my Canot Remix (https://github.com/nilokr/cantor-remix) and it works about as well as you can expect such a keyboard to. I feel that it's best to go for something absolutely minimal, because that has the pro of being able to fit it in your pocket. You can't really put that much on an extra row, so the gain in functionality is greater than the loss in portability.
>>107244096*Cantor Remix. Fuck. Keyboard thread and I mistype the keyboard name. I'm gonna KMS now.
>>107243912>orthoId recommend columnar staggered instead
>>107235853I do most of my typing on my phone
>>107244106kek>>107244219my condolences
I don't program but I do ergomaxx
>>107244335Where are the wrist rests?
>>107235853the Dygma Defy is the best keyboard, but its way overpriced. the base price is $300 but they make you pay for extras that you would expect as standard such as wireless, backlit, tilted so that the prices goes over $600but its highly customizable, having all the special keys as thumb keys means no more reaching for keys out of the homerows
>>107244335what is this tenting system called?
