>>107236036it's fine. I've been using it since forever. it works. it's up to date. if I were to install a new distro, I'd move to NixOS anyway.

Fedora is great. If it does what you want, fine. But pretending there’s no reason to touch anything else is just limiting yourself.Where Fedora stops being optimal: Long-term stability Each release is supported ~13 months. On serious servers or stuff you don’t want to babysit, Debian Stable / Ubuntu LTS / RHEL clones win: 5–10 years of boring, predictable life. Reproducible, declarative systems Silverblue is nice, but NixOS/Guix are built around “everything from config files, rollbacks for entire system + config, rebuild this box from git.” Fedora can be scripted; NixOS makes that the default. Max custom / bleeding edge Fedora is “fresh but curated.” If you want latest everything + giant repo, Arch + AUR beats it. If you want per-package compile flags and full masochism, Gentoo exists. Proprietary crap Some games, anticheat, VPNs, Adobe, CAD etc simply do not work on Linux at all. Then it’s Windows or macOS whether you like it or not. No amount of Fedora enthusiasm fixes missing support. Normie boxes For people who hate changes and upgrades, Ubuntu LTS / Mint are easier: less churn, more “copy this exact guide” content.Realistic setup for many people: Fedora on personal laptop/desktop RHEL/Alma/Rocky/Debian/Ubuntu LTS on servers Windows/macOS for specific proprietary stuff NixOS where reproducibility really mattersFedora is a great hammer. It’s just not every tool in the toolbox.
>>107236036dnf is by far the slowest package manager out there, i like how you always get the newer stuff but thats kinda redundant on a point realese model since the support time here is short per realese too.
most of the work on it is made by volunteers, but the whole thing is obviously controlled by Fed Rat, you never know what they might push into fedora (you), like the telemetry horror a few years ago.
>>107237601dnf5 is rewrite in c and is much faster.

>>107236036does protip just mean spoiler?
why do they hide the systemd code at boot screen? kind sus.
>>107236036I'm using fedora myself. I can't convince you... the only thing I'd like to see is btrfs rollback, just like on openSUSE. But I guess that will never come, because they have fedora atomic.
It has SELinux by default which is NSA Spyware
>>107237901proof or didnt happen
>>107237901It's open source and implemented very well in red hat distros, even in android and now opensuse. It absolutely mogs apparmor and is the best security you can have, after "don't be retarded"

>>107236036Well as an actual RHEL user I wouldn't tell you to stop using a Red Hat derivative, have fun. For one thing you aren't locked to old versions of everything like I am for "security" reasons and you probably have an easier time with distro upgrades.
>>107237350Honestly if I ran Fedora I'd beg Linus to let us use that in our marketing.
>>107238055i means, we need concrete proofs. you only think SEL is a NSA backdoor because it was initially authored by them.

RHEL/Alma is more comfy if you don't want to updoot the entire OS every 6 months. Otherwise just keep using it.
