For the people out there that didn't switch to Linux: which Windows are you using? W10 Pro with ESU? W10 IoT LTSC? W11 LTSC? Normal W11 with some debloat?
>>107236857Switch to Linux
>>107236857I will not accept Windows 11 while there's literally any other option in the universe.
>>107236875Posting this from Fedora Linux. >>107236891What are you using, then?
After about 10 years of exclusively using Linux and macOS I just bought a new thinkpad with the intention of installing Linux on it immediately after purchase but I just tried using windows 11 for a bit and.... it's actually not that bad.I think once you free yourself from feeling "locked in" to a single operating system and realise you can be happy on any of the 3 major ones and that all of them are a bit crap in different ways then you stop caring so much.
>Own PC: W11>Mom and dad's PC: W10 Pro ESU>Brother and Uncle's PC: W10 LTSC 2019My relatives PC's are quite old and underpowered so it's better for them to stay on W10. Especially since I don't want to deal with PC's running an OS on 'unsupported' hardware.
>>107236857I use both LTSC 2022 and fedora.I have Windows 11 on a laptop, holy shit what an absolute shit show.
>>107236857I'm just using windows 11 on most of my pcs.I have windows 10 iot ltsc on a few with lower specs, but honestly I don't care all that much.Windows 10 iot ltsc seems to work as well as linux on those pcs, so it's fine for my use. Used ubuntu on one of them, but can't say I think it was much more responsive than windows 10 iot ltsc really.
>>107236857W10 IoT LTSCThe OS landscape is kinda aids rn. LTSC is the obvious option while we wait for...>microsoft to stop shitting the bed>linux desktop developers to figure out how they're going to continuously handle security if the platforms become popular
>>107236857Using W10 IoT LTSC but I have dual boot with Ubuntu. The long-term plan is to eventually switch to Linux completely but I will wait for the current pressure to build on the market so that more companies will offer pro software on Linux.I think the more users switch and interest grows, this pressure starts yielding some results. The OS is taken more seriously, the quality of software improves, some consider the commercial viability of it, etc. This time is different and Linux does have a chance to at least overtake Apple's OS and become the second significant desktop OS.
win 8.1 iot core
>>107236971Use it a bit more. Don't worry. I assume you haven't tried to pin a program to the taskbar yet, or you likely would have complained about the fact that they removed that feature almost immediately. You definitely wouldn't be saying that it's "not that bad," when the first of your experiences with it are inferior to all of it's predecessors.
>>107237565Ubuntu isn't responsive. It runs GNOME. That's why everyone hates it.
>>107236971How little do you do on your windows pc's that you aren't inconvenienced by the removal of the ability to pin folders in the quick access flyout for explorer?
It says here:Windows 11 Pro for Workstations
