GET THE FUCK IN HERE NAOW!!!!!The government of Switzerland is forcing every messaging app, VPN provider, and email service, with 5,000 users, or more, to collect government IDs, IP addresses, log IP address, in decrypted format, for six months, ON DEMAND. They're implementing this through an executive decree, completely bypassing the country's famous direct democracy standards. This is the same country that spent decades selling itself as the "privacy capital of the world" and now wants surveillance powers surpassing, or equivalent to the NSA. It's called VUPF.WE NEED TO KEEP AN EYE ON THIS. MULLVAD sistas? Not like this.
Where is the EFF when you need em?
>>107243749>EFFhuh?
>>107243735they're going thru with it! the state is now an adversary. this is literally an attack!
I figured jt was only a matter of time. If you're a powerful oligarch why would you allow the peons to have encryption and privacy protection? its like investing in the stock market in the long term. you really dont think the US won't default in our lifetime? always expect the worst so long as oligarchs are allowed to exist
>>107243735Not my problem
I've been saying we need to murder politician for how many years now? Does anybody listen?
>>107243735Y won’t you think about the children?
so should I renew my protonVPN or no?
it is over! online privacy was fun while it lasted
It's a global push. Non-corporate VPNs will be banned soon as well. Anyone who disagrees can't see where the wind is blowing. This won't change as long as there is no real global libertarian/liberal movement.
>>107243735dont care

>>107243781>It's a global push. Non-corporate VPNs will be banned soon as well.Yup, it's basically over. It's crazy well coordinated. Even in a country like Switzerland that has "direct democracy" where they get to vote directly on issues and topics. Famous for their secure bank accounts, etc. Even there mass surveillance laws just get enacted seemingly without resistance. I'm guessing the new law has seen very little coverage in their local media.
>>107243780>65.5 percent of voters in the referendum backing the new law Who would vote for this?
yeah i knew proton was too good to be trueespecially when /g/ started shilling it so hardwouldnt be rurpsied if glowniggers from round the globe set up a joint effort with swizerland for this specific occasion

This is coming across every single country. You can feel it as the politicians realize that the have the momentum to strip privacy and security from the masses for some nebulous problem that didn't exist 10 years ago. The real question is; if every country is making these kinds of moves, what are the options, technologically, for retaining freedom? VPN detection evasion stuff generally works by relying on a friendly harbor somewhere else that doesn't give a fuck that you just connect over there instead. There might be a few of these states that make money from existing as a harbor, but if the number gets low enough then countries can just start, at the ISP level, blocking 'criminally unlogged VPN services' from these countries. I think the first line of defense will be self-hosted. The law here states 5000 or less customers are excempt, meaning that microcompanies or companies that sell VPS services that are basically docker containers that are totally not to be used for VPNs tee hee and instead rely on generic software that is unaffiliated with the company to let you use it as a VPN so they're legally evasive. After that, it's installing more advanced software that hides that it's a VPN; russian/chinese VPN evasion tech is pretty advanced nowadays and the tl;dr from that kind of tech is that you just tunnel a VPN connection over HTTPS and any kind of detection tool just sees HTTPS.
