We got Ethernet out of BNC as a connection interface, can't we also move on from RJ-45 at this point? I don't like the fragile clips.
>>107246849You're not using SFP? It's 2025, get with the times gramps.
>>107246849>we cant use usb C for this because...we just cant okay?
>>107246881Isn't SFP just a meta-interface? You still need something to plug into an SFP module to actually form the bridge to whatever you're trying to connect.
>>107246901USB ports don't have MAC addresses.It'd be nice, though.
>>107246901the connector needs to have a latch to hold it in place
>>107246849Why? It just works.
>>107246912USB cables don't just pop out with zero force, you can feel something holding them in when you pull on them.
>>107246905Yes, you can even use 8P8C but you won't have to deal with the clip.
>>107246930yes they dont
Honestly BNC is probably better as an interface but I could imagine it's costly compared to a dinky plastic RJ-45.
>>107246901i have a usb-c -> rj-45 adapter for my laptop
>>107246959*melts your RJ45*
>>107247010Huh...I guess these exist but why...?But I doubt this is what you have. You have a USB-C network adapter, which has a dedicated Ethernet chip inside that presents a MAC address to the router.
>>107246909>>107246901USB C and USB Micro SUCKTHEYRE COMPLETE FUCKING TRASH THAT DOES NOTHING BUT BREAK
