i'm running a GSI at the moment and i get about 20 hours of screen-on time for a single charge. would it be worth trying to use a Magisk module or something to disable the two Cortex-A76 performance cores at the kernel level? the six remaining A55s are probably enough for me, i dont play video games on my phone.

Android already sleeps performance cores when you're in the power saver mode, please don't meme yourself into thinking your tinkering outwits operating systems developers

Pixel 10 has a serious battery drain problem because it can't tolerate mobile data correctly because some retarded faggot decided to force you to shut off your sim when turning off mobile data. You have to go into airplane mode to shut off mobile data and use WiFi with your carrier.
No they are not smart and constantly do retard tier shit
>>
Doubt it's worth it but do your autistic thing and report back.

yeah but i'm running a GSI, i doubt the CPU governor is properly tuned (even though it gets better battery than the stock firmware)
maybe shutting off the cores entirely isn't a good idea though. i'll play around with stuff and report back.

i used to own a pixel kek, a 6a. in fact that's why i'm doing all of this. my 6a's battery was basically useless after 300 cycles. this phone is a cheap motorola that i got for basically nothing from my carrier.

will do

Tried a firewall? AFwall if you're rooted (proably shouldn't), NetGuard otherwise

It's a design flaw I simply put it in airplane mode until I leave my house. If they don't fix this I'm going to just use a custom ROM, everything else is good they just keep doing retarded shit.
>>107249019
I already keep my battery in conservation mode but I'm fine with battery performance once that issue is fixed
>>
Slighty off topic, but what should I do with a couple identical old cheapo tablets that have clearly reduced uptime on full charge? They're running lollipop so highly unlikely to be able to update anything.

If you're running root just set the governor to one of the generic power saving ones, you will really struggle to squeeze anymore juice than that at least In my experience
>>

few years back when my phone was rooted I made a script to stop battery charging at 80%. then I got paranoid about rooting and now I check it once in a while and take the cable out when it gets to around 80%. 5 years and battery still going great

update: ended up just setting the governor to "conservative" for all 8 cores (2x A76, 6x A55). seems to work well enough and i havent noticed any slowdowns
i do wonder though: would disabling the A76 cores fuck things up? i know phones with only A55 cores exist but im scared to test it

Usually these settings don't survive a reboot (unless auto-applied) so it should be safe to try. Are you actually measuring power draw with BatteryBot or something?

Is there anything better to track battery usage/life?
