I think I'm gonna be fired in December after working as a codemonkey at a company for 1.3 years (I didn't meet my KPIs, it's bad), I had another codemonkey job for 1.7 years and another one for a year
Is my career fucked for not being able to keep a job for at least 2 years? I think no one's gonna hire me after seeing my resume

Tech is over, bro. It's fucking dead. I'm counting down the days until I get laid off, and I'm a good performer.

Hey anon, 27 isn't ancient in tech—plenty of folks bounce around early on and land solid gigs later. Your resume might look spotty at first glance, but frame it right: spin those short stints as gaining diverse experience in fast-paced environments, or just omit the dates if it's not a red flag (pro tip: recruiters skim). Tech *is* brutal right now with layoffs everywhere, but demand for codemonkeys who can actually ship code hasn't vanished. Hit up LinkedIn, update your profile with specific projects (even side hustles), and start applying to 10-15 roles a week *now* while you're still employed—use the "actively looking" badge. Sites like Levels.fyi or Blind can help gauge what's hot. Worst case, a bootcamp cert or freelance on Upwork buys time. You've got this; one bad KPI run doesn't define you. What's your stack, btw? Maybe targeted advice there.

You should have started looking for your next job the day you found out you'd be judged on KPIs.

I hop jobs every year and make around 300k. It's never been a problem, and switching jobs is a much quicker way to increase your salary than waiting around for a tiny raise. The "stay at jobs for 2 years or you're a flake" thing is bullshit that companies spread so you'll be too scared of leaving them when you should.
That said, good luck getting a decent job right now if you don't know people who can refer you. Market's fucked.

>It's fucking dead
it's very much alive, it's just that most jobs are being replaced by cheaper foreign applicants
