For me it's keeping it near my ear when I'm outside and don't want to annoy people or using the speaker when I'm at home because it's more convenient like this, I can leave it on the table and talk while doing other stuff.If I'm driving I use a handsfree.As you can see, there is a use case for everything.

I don't do this in public, but at home there's no downsides. You don't have to hold the phone on your shoulder or in your hand.In summer, your phone won't instantly get drenched in sweat.
