I see it constantly before I thought boomers but I see everyone talk like this did phone mics and speakers get worse is that the reason? They aren't all using facetime or video chat it's phone calls and they all use speaker phone.

They saw a post on Facebook that holding electronics near your head gives you brain tumors

It's always someone jibber jabbering away in Spanish or some oogadooga langage I've never heard English.

It's because they are using facetime or whatsapp video call

it's been a thing ever since Apple decided to get rid of 3.5mm jack so they can sell electric toothbrush ends.
naturally, such products are easily lost/stolen and require regular maintenance in the form of daily battery charging, which is incompatible with an active/busy individual's lifestyle.
as such, the use of earphones has largely gone out of fashion, while having your device emit loud sounds while in public spaces is largely considered the norm.

For me it's keeping it near my ear when I'm outside and don't want to annoy people or using the speaker when I'm at home because it's more convenient like this, I can leave it on the table and talk while doing other stuff.
If I'm driving I use a handsfree.
As you can see, there is a use case for everything.

I miss the old bluetooth headsets where at least you knew immediately the guy was on the phone. You see people with airpods that'll just start talking out loud to themselves and then you'll realize they're on a call. And they're always talking loudly.

^ same

I don't do it in public though. I'll excuse myself or say I need to call back.

That doesn't make much sense when wireless earphones like picrel exist. They even have a mic close to your mouth for calls. Nobody is going to keep using Airpods after they lose a pair or two.

Apple used to include earbuds in the box with every iPhone. Even when they removed the headphone jack they still included them for a few years with a lightning connector.
Once they stopped including them, people stopped using them. Nobody wants to buy something else after they just spent $1000 on a phone. If it's not included, they won't buy it.
>>

Same reason every restaurant and house how has USB ports in the walls, because Apple doesn't include an AC adapter in the box anymore and people still want to charge their phone, but won't buy an AC adapter.

Why do the airpods even need a microphone? The phone has one built in.
Yeah, yeah, I know, it was supposed to be to make calls while the phone is in your pocket or something, but if they make everyone use the speaker phone anyway, and you have to talk loudly while using them, would it really be a loss if they were removed?

These are a thing now, I work with a lot of executives and directors, a lot of them wear these to stay connected and not isolate their hearing. I do use airpods though when doing calls, otherwise I speak normally on the phone, hardly ever use speaker.
>>
I don't do this in public, but at home there's no downsides. You don't have to hold the phone on your shoulder or in your hand.
In summer, your phone won't instantly get drenched in sweat.

boomers are afraid and think touch screen on face means they hang up the call. even though there's a sensor that turns off the display.

it cannot be helped.

I don't mind these retards. In ears are the true devil. Before them I could easily spot the raving lunatics and stay the fuck away from them. Now everyone looks like one

It's unnerving they just start talking out loud like no one else is around
