Windows 11 may suck, but so did ME. I actually suffered through it.
>>
>>107261636
I liked ME, there was pinball

At what, exactly? You lazy glavset rooster. Go die of AIDS already.

Thanks for the garbage nonsense, ChatGPT. Too bad your user doesn't speak English.
>>
>>107261636
The funniest part is that it's actually true. ME is actually pretty usable if you try it yourself.

Windows Millenium was far more stable than Win98 actually, but there were two big issues:
- Few people had internet to download Me specific drivers, if they existed, so people used Win95/98 drivers, Me let you install them, and sometimes it worked, sometimes it made it randomly crash.
- Back then RAM was very expensive, so people bought lower priced noname sticks, that were actually faulty sticks from brands, but nobody knew, and we did not use to test ram sticks back then. And not only we used faulty sticks, we overclocked them to cap it off. So of course there were a lot of blue screens.

I heard it was the mixing of VXD and WDM that caused it to shit itself.

Windows ME was a gimped version of Windows 98 SE, with some features that were back ported from Windows 2000. But it was still an alright for the last of the 9X kernel operating systems.
>>

Windows ME supported animated wallpapers. 10/11 do not.
>>
>>107264574
Windows 11 does that too

Windows 2000 pro made it completely irrelevant.

boomer here

windows me was outstanding piece of shit even 20-25years ago.
No one used shit crap.
winME was between old 95-98 and new NT era (xp\2003). I don't mean windows NT which also was crap.
Even windows 2000 was better with endless count of service packs which cause BSOD and bootloop after installation.

Windows 98 based.
Windows XP based.

Millennial here
I used Me 25 years ago and had very few problems with it, even less than Windows 98.
I'd much rather daily Me over that jeet spyware piece of trash larping as Windows today.

That's what the poster you replied to essentially said. Though it's really bad VXD drivers.
VXD = Win95/98 drivers (bad)
WDM = WinME drivers (good)

Also, most people kept the OEM installation of Windows that was pre-installed. Try a fresh installation of ME and you'll see a difference. And disable System Restore and Active Desktop.

It's a close one honestly. On the one hand, ME was an unstable POS with shit performance (remember "you need to clean reinstall every few months its normal for the computer to slow down as you install more programs"? I do.). HOWEVER when it wasn't crashing it was still more responsive on the hardware of the time than 11 is now, and also it didnt spy on you. So I think you might be right. Then again I never used the internet on ME so maybe that would subtract some points.
>>
>>107264574
I'd rather have ME freeze several times a day than use 11
>>
>>107264574
Not on the right hardware.
>>
>>107261636
Hacking at your nuts with a rusted cheesgrater is better than Win11.

Doesn't mean it's a good idea.

Also, ME was a real bag of shit.

I think you mean that *you* didn't test RAM sticks back then. But that doesn't surprise me.

I think you should try that. Then you might learn precisely why, as a millenial, your opinion is vastly misguided and highlights your lack of education when you forward it.
>>
ME removed the only good feature of 9x series, a true MS-DOS-mode.
