Upgraded from my ancient TN panel to IPS. Is this fucking normal? How cooked am I?
>>
>>107265679
Are you sure that's IPS
>>
>>107265679
Yeah that's what modern IPS is now. I told you, it's not 2014 any more, good IPS panels are only kept for professional displays. Everyone else get mid tier slop. OLED is the consumer high end, there is no IPS high end anymore.
>>
>>107265679
what monitor is that? my ancient (2014) BenQ IPS is no where near that bad for backlight uniformity.

Nvidia is worse at Vulkan than AMD?? So emulators?
>>
>>107265679
fuck sake sorry to hear that anon. this makes me very paranoid to buy an IPS panel. I bought one years ago, it had bleed and an issue with displaying the color orange; it would have black dots scattering through that color. i took it back and bought a 1080p TN panel. just got a new PC and want to upgrade to 1440p, is OLED the only option to avoid this kind of stuff?
>>
>>107265693
AW2725DM. It's not as bad in person but definitely noticeable in dark scenes. So far I don't mind though because I have an OLED TV I play AAA games and movies on this is just for browsing and some fps games.
>>
>>107265679
Unironically that bleed is so bad you might actually be warrantable at reputable brands. You should always buy a monitor in person thoughbeit. I bring a laptop and use my car's inverted outlets to test the blacks if they refuse to let me test in store (they always do) then return it immediately if unacceptable. Still every IPS you're gonna get is gonna have some dumb chink child's little manufacturing error.
>>
>>107265728
>Nvidia is worse at Vulkan than AMD??
at what? parallel proccessing? singel data multiple threads? warps? triangles? dense geometry? memory maganement? vector rendering? data compression? what scene are you even benching to claim shit like that, maybe the code is more optimized for AMD on a particular program or engine but to say shit like that is retarded

Why would you do that to yourself, you could have gotten any non-gaming 1440p and it would look miles better with same MS/HZ.

I'll use it a few days and see if it bothers me. It looks alot less bad in person and I usually sit in a bright room and play cartoonish games like Valorant, Overwatch or WoW. Probably return it for a miniled VA if I can't stand it. I think buying IPS screen is like playing the lottery because when I watch/read reviews on this model people say it almost has none.

google IPS bleed and go to reddit, half of the pictures look the same or worse
it's just the way phone cameras capture it and it's meaningless to judge by a picture
what I can tell you from my experience is that it shouldn't bother you even during dark scenes, if it bothers you - return it
>>
>>107265706
horey sheets. i mean, when i got the BenQ I paid good money for it (BL3201PH) because I needed a good 4k display and it was a "budget" 4k at $1000, i figured by now the IPS market would have trickled down the good stuff to the consumer market.

>ASUS TUF x870 disables half of your GPU PCIe lanes when you add a SSD
This is ridiculous. A $300 board at MSRP that fails at such a basic level. Most people would pair a X board with a GPU that would most likely get gimped by bandwidth in PCIe 4.0. Banking it all on PCIe 5.0 (which only works in ryzen 9000, ofc) is bullshit.
And the worst part is that their B850 board doesnt have this limitation.

>just want to see how bad it is relatively
that's the thing, you can't
unless the pictures you are comparing are taken with the same camera and settings, it's meaningless
even just a small change in camera exposure can make it look 5x worse
the average phone camera is calibrated to make pictures resemble a reference, which not only varies with every model, but also means it will greatly amplify a small IPS glow, but also reduce it if it's too bright
that's why there are so many pictures of IPS glow that look basically the same and why they all look so awful, despite being a lot different in real life

When you have an aio with a display with the USB slot and software.
Do you have the USB cable to be permantly connected for the custom bg and settings?

Market uncertainty. The last time they did that due to a demand surge, it suddenly went down and they were left holding the bag. Just increasing margins for now nets roughly the same profit with reduced risk.

I upgraded to an OLED a few days ago and now it's completely ruined IPS screens for me. I'm using my old primary fast IPS (on the left) as my chat monitor, and despite thinking that blacks used to look black on it, when compared to the OLED right next to it, it's just not so anymore. Im not even sure if this screenshot will be visible on a non oled with how black it actually is.

IPS monitors need relatively bright ambient light + a bias lighting behind it to fool your eyes.

>it only comes with the 3x120mm front fans, think adding a rear exhaust would be a good idea? ill be using a 360mm rad up top
Yes, it's helpful. Also, if you aren't necessarily wedded to the 4000D Frame's aesthetics there are cheaper cases like the Montech 903 MAX (also supports 360mm rads) that come with 3x Front Intakes + 1x Rear Exhaust preinstalled just as one example:
https://pcpartpicker.com/product/2MwmP6/montech-air-903-max-atx-mid-tower-case-air-903-max-b
>>
>>107267270
I don't think the rear exhaust fan is mandatory for these new cases with good airflow, especially if you're using an AIO to cool the CPU.
But it will cool the case by a few degrees (probably 2~3°C max).
Don't spend too much. I'd probably buy a 140mm fan like the Arctic P14 Pro or the RS140 fan if you want to match the fan brand.
P14 Pro runs a bit loud past 1000 RPM, btw. Best to keep it around 800~900 RPM if you're a fan noise schizo.

This general sorely needs the monitor schizo back.
The display is the actual hardware you're staring at when you use your new/upgraded PC.
Get the best possible display that's within your budget. Don't be stupid with your spending, though.

I think it'd be great if they slowed down the releases. A more realistic pattern would be midrange is skipped for every other generation. Moneybags can replace their class 80s and 90s every single gen, selling it off to 2nd-rate moneybags, however the common working man might pick up a midrange card and hold onto it for multiple generation cycles. Then it will be up to game devs to make their games properly unless they really do want to have a market size of just class 80 and 90 owners.

They might have one generation where they have no midrange, get burned for it, make a full range for the next gen afterwards, then try to do this again, and so the above pattern forms naturally.

you should buy an NVME drive, it's an ssd you put directly on to your motherboard. 1tb will run you 50 dollars for one without a dram controller (thing that makes it a little better) and 80-100 for one with the controller. If you drive is already failing it's a good idea to do a fresh install, but drive cloning exists if you don't feel like it. if you care about dram on your NVME use the borecraft website in the op, if you don't just buy the cheapest one from Newegg/Amazon that's from an established company with a lot of reviews. one last thing is if you're a windows 10 user, if you clone your drive onto your nvme you need to use massgrave to extend your security updates to 2027. if you're doing a fresh install you should download "windows 10 ioT LTSC" from massgrave/wherever for security updates until 2032. check /fwt/ for more if needed, and always check NVME reviews on other websites too, good luck

if you have NVME check the slot - they have different specs so make sure the drive you buy fits the socket, this explains it well: https://www.atpinc.com/blog/what-is-m.2-M-B-BM-key-socket-3

you can find (free) software to duplicate the drive but sometimes a clean install is the better way.

ya i played around with it when i first got it with afterburner and only got a couple FPS gain in benchmarks, though the undervolt did quiet it down a bit

wish i had made note of the settings since i clean installed since then and would have to do it all again but - meh.

I'm looking to get a 4tb nvme drive. What's the big practical difference between gen 4 and gen 5? It seems like the gen 5 has roughly twice the write and read speed as gen 4, but what applications will that be useful for? Do even local AI models need ~14000mbps read and write speed? Should I get a heatsink for either of them too?

Also I'm looking for an internal HDD of larger capacity, to store media files mostly. Does 7200rpm make a big difference vs 5400rpm? If there's not a crippling speed difference then does the 5400 rpm usually have longer longevity?

I actually cant find any warranty info for the superflower PSU. not on the amazon listing, or their website. apparently they dont deal with the US sales and such directly. the be quiet has a 10 year warranty. I think that might be the one to go for here

other vendors have long warranties as well.

them being an OEM does not mean as much as you may think, e.g. the PSU designs are not likely shared, internal components can be very different quality, etc..

I was thinking of getting a 9070 XT. I have been considering between asrock steel legend dark and powercolor reaper, both are at the same price, cheapest I could find. I'm guessing there really is not much of a difference between these two?

https://www.fractal-design.com/app/uploads/2025/05/Meshify-3-XL-Manual-V1.1.pdf

p.50 says it can only take a 420x140x30 in the top, but it looks like that's to keep clear of side mounted fans. p.51 has a thicker rad in the top slot, so I'm assuming it's not a motherboard clearance issue.

Planning to just leave the stock 3 front fans in place and top mount the 420 AIO.

I don't see a mice/mouse or peripheral thread so I figure I should ask here

I have used the Razer Deathadder platform since they first came out when I was a kid so it's my preferred mouse style
I want to move away from Razer because of their ridiculous third party software and because I read that their quality has further dropped with the V3 and V4 Deathadders

Do any of you know of any mice with similar ergonomics and side buttons? I use the back side button for sprint and the ergonomics on this mouse are unmatched for my hands
Nothing I've felt in stores has felt as good as the Deathadder

Im starting to think amd is insane
I got 7800x3d and to watch a youtube video it uses very little cpu power
but one core will TURBO BOOST TO THE MAX UNTIL IT REACHES 89C because MAX POWER
this means 7 cores are like 40c but 1 is >70c and the fan has to immediately ramp fan speed up to cool that 1 fucking core
then it immediately cools down a lot, but then it turbo boosts AGAIN and fan has to follow it
so out of any cpu in existance got the one that will produce the absolute max fan ramp up and down imaginable by default

thanks amd.
