Most private torrent trackers no longer accept XViD, DiVX, or RealMedia. Can someone please explain to me what, exactly, is wrong with these formats? I am not exactly an expert on this sort of thing. I've watched movies in XViD, DiVX, and RealMedia many times and they always played just fine. As far as I'm concerned, if it's at least watchable quality and it plays with no problems, then it's good enough for me. So, again: what is wrong with these formats and why do most private trackers not accept them anymore?

>>107266592>XViD, DiVX, and RealMedia>watchable qualityLmao, better get your eyes checked.
>>107266592Modern computers are no longer struggling to decode AV1 video. It's mostly just phones and even then Snapdragon 835 and weaker are becoming rarer as the years go by. By 2030, something like 99% of all computers and phones will be able to playback AV1, even at 4K60FPS just fine. This is serious buisness because AV1 can be like 30-80% more efficient than H264.https://medium.com/@ewoutterhoeven/how-arms-neon-enables-efficient-av1-decoding-on-mobile-5fcb3a4f6e7fYou can use old dogshit video codecs if you want but most of us don't really appreciate either:A) turbo dogshit quality at low bitratesB) buffering
>>107267188>B) bufferinghow do you get buffering on a fully downloaded file in a media player? that's a web streaming thing.
>>107266592Most of them still accept it for SD but it can be trumped by newer codecs like x264/x265. There's no reason to use it nowadays, the compression is shit (especially for HD).
>>107266592>what is wrong with these formats and why do most private trackers not accept them anymore? It's outdated crap that doesn't make sense to use anymore. Like how most private trackers ban split .rar files now.
the other day i found some divx encodesi must have ripped them from stage6 like 2 decades ago either way i went and replaced them with an dvdiso rip i'll encode them eventually, well probably not lol nostalgic
i had every episode of a fansub version of dbz and each episode was a 30mb rmvb file
>>107268143You can stream torrents as well.

>>107268336>ngmiI already made it into KG, HDB, PTP and BTN. Before you hit me with but MS & TIK you should know I have zero interest in full disks and WOC content
>>107268336>implying i want non-x264and it's the linux operating system, not "ganoo slash leenocks"
>>107268455how did you get into ptp and btn?

>>107268709any advice for getting in today?i'm currently on cinemageddon, karagarga, tv vault, myspleen, seedpool, ptfiles, bakabt, digitalcore, myanonamouse, cinemaz, pussytorrents, hd-space, torrentday, and darkpeers.
>>107268803you can get PTP through KG, or join RED or OPS and rank up>>107268709same
>>107268832>join RED or OPShow?
>>107268834interview or a recruitment thread in one of your trackers official invites forums

>>107266592I bealive H264 should also be dropped already. Everything can play H265 and AVI1.
>>107269604>H265 and AVI1still inferior for 1080p SDR. H265 does have it's place for 4k and HDR content though
>divx xvid wtf is this 2002 again
>>107268840lmaogotta love criminals larping
Not gonna lie, I honestly miss when RealPlayer was everywhere. It got the job done.
>>107269835okay boomer
>>107266592There's no reason to use them unless you have a vintage file that's already in those formats, and have no better source available.Newer codecs can be much higher quality at a smaller filesize, are more widely supported, and are no longer as taxing on hardware as in the past.
