Most people use what works best to reach their goals. Many "smart" people use software that's only written for and supported on windows. Their time is too valuable to dabble with unsupported configurations. Not to mention that there aren't really any upsides to do that. Maybe philosophically or long term but most people don't care about that or don't consider it their responsibility no matter their intelligence.
