how ADHD maxed are you right now?
>>107288423I've got YouTube playing in the background at all times while working on my project and I also alt+tab constantly to check /g/ as well. Living the dream.
I watch the same youtuber I was watching 15 years ago in the background, browsing the same site I did 15 years ago.Really more autismaxxing
More than 100 tabs open, music playing, working on stuff on gimp, talking to friends on two different instant message platforms, occasionally checking a forum for updates in a discussion I posted in,occasionally checking 4chan for updates on a question I had
Reading Awoo while checking the Ecker works
No, having your attention span destroyed by social media is not a mental illness.
>>107288607not being able to read is
>>107288607adhd was already a thing when social media still meant myspace

>>107288614That anon has actual ADHD, be patient
>>107288423>watching someone stream resident evil 4>their livestream chat is open>a video of a fireplace as well>switching between 4chan, hacker news, and kiwifarms>epub open in tab i read one page a day of>skim the threads or articles from these sources, quickly bored>switch to my text editor to write a prompt for the LLM to make something>switch to note taking app to write down ideas and projects ill never finish
If I read a book, read a thread, watch a video, play a game, work on something, or watch a fucking movie or television show, I usually give all my attention to it. If I'm working on something or browsing teh interwebs I'll play music in the background or talk to someone, but that's it. I can't understand people who have all this shit going on at once. I mean my mind wanders like everyone else's, I might find myself looking for something or typing to someone when I was in the middle of reading a book. But if I had all the shit on screen that some other people do, it would make it difficult to focus on any one thing, and I wouldn't get anything out of it. I'm also surprised to see how relatable it is for anons here when a thread like this comes up. Is it really unmedicated ADHD that's causing all this, or is a lot of it just zoomers who've known nothing but popcorn entertainment and instant gratification?
>>107288423>3 monitors>terminally online>constantly indulging in escapism>2 of the monitors are just idle most of the time>don't pick up a new game if I'm already playing 2, at most 3 (the third usually only being some post-game leftovers)>quit anything multiplayer, hate gacha>don't use youtube much or visit any social sites aside from here>always try to minimize the number of tabs open and pages left bookmarked for later>dedicate my full attention to anything I play or watch, turning off or dimming other monitors when appropriateI'm self-control-maxxing if anything.
>>107289031>>2 of the monitors are just idle most of the timethats the funny thing about multi-monitor friends
I made the grave mistake of connecting my work laptop in my main monitor and my personal laptop in the second monitor. I got zero work done this week. Zero.
>>107288423ADHD isn't real. It's a cope. Disciplinary beatings were seen as too cruel by both your dad's. That's the issue.
>>107289068I do have plenty of use cases for the second one, especially now that I'm learning nipponese. Not having it would suck massive ass.Third one not so much, but I got a new display to replace my main anyway and figured why not. There are times where it genuinely helps, and it's in portrait which is better for some things.
>>107288423I'm just 14 tabs away from 2k "open". The vast majority are organized into groups. I keep YT on the HTPC all day mostly for background noise, mostly car repair related stuff. I have sometimes RCT2, factorio, or any other number of games running you don't have to dedicate time constantly. I play gacha on my ipad two or three times a day, never spending money, just tapping the free shit. Four displays total, one HTPC, three on shitpost desktop, one of those does double duty with my gaymen PC that I swap inputs on. My phone is in front of me but I don't touch it since I hate doing anything on a phone, battery lasts a week between charges.
>>107288423thats just gen alpha, screen zombies
>>107289099u should put a fireplace video on one. its redpillled.
>>107288923Its partial anheadonia from constant overstimulation leading to the work you're doing having less mental stimulation which is compensated with external stimulation or stimming. An older example being figeting with your hands or whipping your leg up and down in class.Basically addicts upping the dose to function.>>107289088Part of ADHD is an impaired prefrontal cortex, the part for prioritisation and self control. Mental niggerfication if you will.
>>107289256>Mental niggerfication if you will.thats an oversimplification. theres an interesting theory about how adhd sufferers have more "hunter gene" while those that adapted more to society are more "farmer gened" aka domesticated cattle.
I don't understand tab hoarders at all. I hoard bookmarks, notes, and other minutiae. but tabs make no sense whatsoever. it actually feels good to close all my tabs after I'm done with them.
>>107288423
>>107289343>close the tabs after you are doneThats the thing, you get distracted and switch to something else, leaving your troubleshooting tabs for the next time you feel like dealing with it. Extend this to niche interest and researching and projects and there are 21 things in the back of your mind gnawing at you while you keep switching to new and interesting things, while running from what now feels like boring and fruitless endeavors.
>>107288423>Spotify on auto playlist>Photoshop>6 tabs including itt>youtube idling in the background in case I get bored of shooping and want to watch slop for a whileNot a lot, but it's there. If I feel like playing vidya I'll just close everything because my computer is a toaster.
>>107289395I get that feeling too but that's why I use written notes. just record it somewhere and forget about it. doesn't even matter if you never go back to it, as long as it's been dealt with in some capacity.
>>107288423ADHD is a self-inflicted problem that can be cured with even a modicum of willpower.
My wife thinks our daughter has ADHD... For those of you that have it, what is your personal theory on what causes it?
>>1072884232 fans blowing on me (if I dont have this I get very irritated, my resting heart rate is 130 and I sweat alot) 2 monitors, youtube shorts, movie1 video game, passive farming simulatorKiCad - MUX DEMUX setupNotepad - Jitter filter programming
>>107289627There are common mineral deficiencies to ADHD so they might exarcebate it, same with chronic sleep deprivation. No clue about direct causes though
>>107288423i'm listening to ten podcasts at once, programming an operating system, and sitting with a meathook up my ass and clothes pins on my nipples.i am ADHD MAX level.
>>107289617>addiction is a self-inflicted problem that can be cured with even a modicum of willpowerThere isn't much willpower in someone burnt out on motivation hence why it is so difficult for drug addicts to snap out of it, but the choice to engage with it was their own, I'll give you that.
>>107288423its pretty bad, so bad I wrote a big long essay/blog/thing in response to this, but I deleted it. my attention has been pretty fried for a couple years now (maybe more.) my last refuge has been lectures, they normally keep me engaged.my worst habit is opening a fuckload of tabs on whatever fake and gay bullshit I dredge up off wikipedia, reading all night about fucking microbes or God knows what, bunch of nonsense. total waste of time.there's so much distractions man; even this, if you're reading this right now, stop it.
>>107289897>but I deleted it.wish you didnt. feel free to vent in this thread anyone, its a serious issue in my opinion
>>107288923Ya I don't get it either. When I watch a show, it has my full 100% attention. I heard that some people like to put shows or TV on in the background so it feels less lonely? Could be that.Or maybe some people are afraid of being alone with their thoughts so they have 20 things going at once so they are never forced to confront themselves. Very sad existence. I hope one day these anons can look themselves in the eyes and destroy what shackles them so badly.
>>107289957anon my resting heart rate is 130. Was born like this. There is no *cure.* I do not have *inner peace.* I'm not a *victim* like you portray. It's *comforting* living like this. Listen to Olivia Newton-John - Have You Never Been Mellow. The answer is No. No across the board.
>>107288423>fan that hasn't been turned off in 3 yearshow did you know?>750 tabs open for "later"i've been working on that, right now i'm only at 247

>>107288423I got the fan, the lotta tabs, and a youtube video playing while browsing 4chan.
