How many ways does an autistic person need to be told no? No. The general public runs on Windows. The creative world runs on Mac. SNAP recipients use Linux.

year of the loonix desktop will never come until they create one standard loonix based OS (not a distro) that can be targeted by hardware vendors, this will literally fix all issues from battery life to GPUs not working.

True. I think the battery life thing could be the real deal breaker right now. I've heard of some people getting good battery life but it really seems all over the place. I'm using linux more than ever now, but it's just a hobby and for tinkering. I like it but I'm a nerd. My work still has to be done in Windows, and if I want to game I use Windows.

>>107336873
Good catch, I didn't notice that.

In other words, SteamOS for desktop
>>
>>107336799
>until they create one standard loonix based OS (not a distro)
We have that already, it's called Flatpak. flathub dot org.
You can get your normie software like Discord, they are verified on Flathub. There is also Spotify and Blender. Flathub is 6x as big as the MS Store and you basically never need to hunt random dot exes on the web, just open the store and download your app.
>Hope that helps
>>
>>107336930
Debian based distro with flatpak is pretty much fool proof. But the proglem is - people are getting worse at using computers (not better). They don't learn much about the absolute basics, you know like file management. Wherever the file goes, well that's where it stays. So I'm not sure if people will management a linux system well at all.
>>
>>107336924
steamOS is too specific (gaming oriented) for that, image matters.
>>
>>107336930
doesn't solve the hardware support problem, you didn't get what i was saying, and let's break honest installing software on windows is way easier than using some sort of gay store or schizo terminal, windows has lots of issues, but installing software isn't one of them.
when I say one standard loonies based OS, I mean to say stable APIs.
>>
>>107336873
I noticed it. It's funny if it's real.
>>
>>107336976
Thats a perfect combo btw.
And yes, I agree... but I guess people are just used to fucking phones and consoles now, maby fucking MacBooks and ChromeOS as well. I'm using Linux for ~3 years now and I really enjoy just general computing so much.
>>
>>107336799
>until they create
Who is "they"? Do you think there's just some giant Linux factory creating different distros for no reason? That's like saying
>they should just create one type of house only so it's easier to get the plumbing done
>won't someone think of the poor plumbers that have to struggle??
>>

>Who is "they"
loonies enjoyers other than tinker trannies kek, valve is the closest entity that can actually do it.
>>
>>107337028
>windows has lots of issues, but installing software isn't one of them.
It's objectively the worst out of all the operating systems. Steam isn't even in the fucking MS Store and Linux App installations are just one click now, even on fucking SteamOS.

But if you really trust your grandma using fucking edge, searching with bing to download software, maby clicking the wrong link for malware, having to open the download folder and double clicking a random exe, starting an install wizard where you have to click next 100x, disable the sending data checkbox and the adware checkbox... sorry, this is just retarded. Even Mac, iOS and Android handle this better... please stick to your Phone and a fucking Ps5, retard.

Pop!_OS (System76)

Valve can't erase every other distro and create a new one from scratch. If the problem is that there are 9000 distros then after Valve comes there's going to be 9001. Linux is not Windows.
>>
>>107336734
I wish I didn't click that.
>>
>>107337113
True. When you get used to a linux package management system and repository, Windows just seems to terrible.
>>
>>107337113
Nvm, your AgenticOS will handle that for you, so it's also in the fisher price OS tier, soon(tm)
>>
>>107337113
Installing and uninstalling software is by far the easiest on windows, chud, this is the biggest problem of you loonix incels, your shit distro doesn't have built in power management, sleep doesn't work but here you are, nobody cares about your shitty app store clone retard, desktop isn't a smartphone.
>>
There will never be a year of the Linux desktop as long as d*namic linking is still a thing
JUST FUCKING MAKE A STATIC BINARY
>>
>>107337131
>Valve can't erase every other distro
they don't need to, they just need to create a standard loonies based OS, the distros will die in their own, you wouldn't believe it but people would literally pay for it if they could.
>>
>>107337143
Nobody in the world cares about schizo package managers and terminal emulators this isnt 1970

>Installing and uninstalling software is by far the easiest on windows
Another winjeet lie, have you ever "uninstalled" an application on Winshit? It leaves stuff in documtens, appdata, userdata and even registry edits. You need 3rd party tools to purge apps, like revo uninstaller.
>Uninstalling a flatpak
Right click
uninstall/manage addons

I didn't say terminal package management. Look at the software manager in Mint.

the only reason people stay on windows is for gaacha shit and AAA multiplayer slop, windows is only good for gamers, everything else is better on linux and macOS
>>
>>107336978
Creatives would use MacOS, gaymers would use SteamOS, and offices would use Windows.

It's not. I'm using MacOS and installing Software via AppStore or Brew is 100x better than on Windows. I use Linux for my Server, yes, you CAN install packages via Terminal, but I also use Linux on my Steam Deck, it's literally just 1 click, fucking Spyware Shill.

I think so, Linux is already gained momentum with the gamers, and many places of business are already deploying Linux with LibreOffice
