Wtf, new thread already? I hope jannies nuke it. I fucking hate desktops.
Came back to st. I'd really like to know how ff is measuring RAM usage because it always displays double or more than it should. System might be using ~160MB, but this fag will say 500MB!

Ayup, for those interested here’s the previous one: >>107319790

I don’t share the same opinion as you though, no matter if the rest of /g/ perceives it as the ultimate form of cancer, I still have a thing for tinkering with anything I come across, I might as well be inspired by someone for my own setup, as I see such things as a form of art, like video games. Genuinely hope that this thread is going to be as fun to be in, if not, even more so than the last one.

Well, as absent minded as I was writing that, I still got to ramble about desktop threads and I like rambling about things lol. I’ll ramble about other’s setups and might as well post my setup later on, it’s pretty late for me and I gotta rest despite my very fucked up sleep schedule, my mind isn’t exactly at the right place at such a time so maybe that explains my ditziness at the moment :P

I came back to post one of my desktops that I forgot to share a little over a month ago when I finished building my Gaming PC (needs a new motherboard because the MSI B650 Gaming Plus Wifi I got from amazon was faulty, and the BIOS occasionally glitches out).

Picrel is one of 11 screenshots I took of my Dark Crystal Nemesis desktop theme. I also uploaded an archive containing the other 10 screenshots, all of my previous desktop pics, and some wallpapers from the screenshots along with a few extra wallpapers:

queer history is most definitely being recorded as we speak, i'm willing to bet that when becoming transgender in a future, not necessarily near future but still future nonetheless covers every biological front of the human body, there is barely an excuse for the classic "ywnbaw" argument. it is a sci-fi theory, sure, but can't i entertain a thought for a bit? im not necessarily educated on the matter of how hrt works and what else because i'm not really interested, so in other words im throwing darts blindfolded.

>>
>>107348520
still though, it is a very loud minority so i understand why some may be annoyed by it, but by no means do i believe i have to be a dick by outright bullying them into say suicide, i think bullying anyone into suicide is fucked up, unless they are a sex offender (which may i remind you can be ANYONE, even those you hold close to)

Honestly, sometimes people like me hate so much a thing we disagree with that we confuse the person with their belief.
I sometimes did in the past told people to kill themselves, but that always comes to regret at my realization that the object of my worship (Christ) would rebuke me for doing that instead of trying to correct the wrong with charity.
I don't know if you ever went on /his but there is a baptist there that always tell people they are going to hell. By hating on trans people (not the idea) I'm no different from him.
I'm rambling here this is somewhat a complement to the other post, but more my public confession for I did not loved my neighbour and instead judged it.
So sorry(again) to you and sorry to elliot.

My WM, which is OPENBOX, is made by a TRANS person. Wen I first found that out it gave me difficulties but then I really, deeply felt the HUMANITY of the person on the other side of that CODE and it became a FEATURE not a BUG.

I do not know what inner, nor biological issues led they/them to that mode of being, so I cannot accurately JUDGE it. And regardless of any of it I find it fascinating that I am able to be an END USER on this side of that code that that person poured their MIND, SOUL, and TIME into, and all of that enabled me to poast them in this thred and make some of these faggots SEETHE, not to mention all of the actual WORK it helps me to accomplish in my own CREATIVE MISSION.

I very much admire your HUMBLE, CHRIST FOCUSED stance, Anon, and I agree that all of those human beings are TREASURE to God in some way even if we are unable to see through His EYES.

At the end of the day, only my Emacs config matters. I have to use fucking windows because of my job, so I avoid ricing things too much on the Linux side because it messes up with my muscle memory. At least the Emacs config is something I can use both in Windows and Linux without hassle.

>you make games by any chance?
No, but I do have an interest in doing so. However, I don't know how to program at all, and my mind works differently than the average person when it comes to learning. In order for me to "learn" how to program, my mind has to pick up on a pattern that sort of fits in there like a cog, and if the pattern is easy enough to follow without stressing myself out, then it might branch out from there, albeit VERY slowly because my mind is in a constant fog.

I've never been able to pick up on the pattern of programming throughout my life, and I've always relied on editing and mashing together pre-existing templates rather than making my own. Even if I were to start making my game, I would only do it myself because I wouldn't want anyone trying to groom/force me into putting unwanted things into my game. Unfortunately, I have zero motivation to do anything these days, and I'm just making things to pass the time.

why do i relate to this so much? i used to be in a gamedev course a little bit more than half a decade ago which covered how to make games in the unity engine, after the course i had a shit ton of motivation to make a particular game, until i ran out of it in late-2020. i havent made anything since then though i most definitely should and really want to but really i can't force myself (not only that but i also want to switch to godot in terms of game engines), not only that but i want no other person involved with the dev other than me and whoever else i want to be involved. here's a screenshot from the time i was studying, the task at hand then was to copy that one fuckass brackeys tutorial (no hate to him, hes good) a compiled build of which is depicted on the screenshot.

oh and by the way, for the old time's sake i sort of went ahead and remastered said setup for a bit, here's how it looks like, decided to recreate the screenshot down to the windows, with the screen recording software (now being obs) and the file manager window depicting what i was working on (here, you're seeing some throwaway shit i did on the c language while i was learning it)

CHECKED
I am very uneducated about a lot of things and it took me a very closer look to NOOTICE that this was KDE. I was thinking before it was XFCE
BC
of the smol "taskbar" (or WATEVS they might call these things, I can't keep up with MUH LINGOS) at the bottom which is how the default XFCE looks. I ZOOMED this pic to give it a good look around and it is very ZEN so MELIKES. It is moastly BLACK VOID with things SPACED around in it, and the colors of those things look very _ in contrast with that BLACK VOID. I also got to see what you wrote in the one about the mother and that is so very true. Isn't it WEIRD AF how we POAST these things to, for, and with STRANGERS for such abstract arrays of REASONS?

I saw someone say the other day that these DESKTOP POASTS can show us moar about the SOULS behind them which, idk, I'm PARAPHRASING HEAR, helps to cut through this IRONY SOAKED cacophonic madhouse a little.

I only update a few things after installating linux mint and then turn the update manager off. Getting every single update causes the system to become somewhat slower and a bit unstable when I accept every single update, so I'm just playing it safe so as to not ruin my system. Just for shits and giggles, I temporarily enabled the update manager and took a screenshot.

Hey man, did I by any chance not send you what I have used? Cause that doesn’t really look like aerothemeplasma, unless you’re trying things your own way. Either way, congrats! Switching to Linux is a move that requires courage and resourcefulness, a bit like stepping out of the comfort zone. Interesting choice for a first distro, you’ll have to deal with the command line a lot in arch-based distros when it comes to package management, I did hear very good things about cachyos though.
Anyways, hope the thing treats you well :)

for the most part its just a way worse and less-featured version of plasma (which is to be expected given how new it is). but i do love some aspects like the cosmic store is way faster than the kde one and the tiling is amazing probably my favorite feature- a tiling desktop i dont have to rice.

plasma keeps drawing me back tho, i just discovered pic related feature
>>
>>107360010
It's a bit clunky at the moment, but going back to stable feels outdated. My system feel snappier on my old laptop with cosmic, than stable on my new system. I haven't switched on my new one yet, looking into it as a side project to see if it's worth hopping over. I rely professionally on my computers so I'm hesitant to try new stuff on machines that I rely on for my income. But so far, it's very promising. There's a bunch of videos out on youtube, but I think the best way to find out about something is trying for yourself.

I need more opinions on my desktop. I was going for that mega autist look, where everything nothing matches and its more eclectic. Notice the icons aren't even fully complete/supported. On top of that they're in a tacky lime-green color, + the gnome foot logo on the start menu

Needless to say, despite my efforts to make it look like shit, i think it actually came out pretty nice, and right now it's actually complimenting my ability to get into a flow state, where I'm not so focused on the aesthetics and congruency, any icon will suffice as long as it accurately depicts whatever it is that it's for.

It seems like it's actually exactly like i described - it actually does follow the system gtk theme but only when the theme's name ends in -dark.

This screenshot picture from the bugzilla bug report demonstrates that more clearly, you can see firefox is taking on the pink/purple colours of a different theme once -dark is appended to its name, so it's pretty unmistakable

Interesting, do you have a link to the Bugzilla report? I couldn't find it and I'm curious to know what exactly they're doing with themes...

"Sexta-Feira" or simply "Sexta" gets shortened to "Sex" so that's why. I'll admit it's funny though, but it just means "Friday" really. Indeed this tablet won't get OneUI 7, nor OneUI 8, which is a bummer, but as long as I've got security updates it'll suit my needs and usecase well enough, though once security's dropped I might have to look into an upgrade in the near future, if I can afford it of course.

Breddy nice rite there, PAPE reminds me of one of my old homes, and that's the first time I've seen a WII start menu organization. I wonder why they have the start menu over in the corner, and those taskbar launchers way over in the middle?
>>

Thanks, anon. I recently copped that wallpaper, but I swear I also had it on an old laptop over a decade back lol, it has such a familiar look to it.

>I wonder why they have the start menu over in the corner, and those taskbar launchers way over in the middle?
Yeah that's part of Start11 made by the Stardock fellas. I personally set my active programs/windows in the middle with the start button set on the far-left. Any other tweaks you see on mine is essentially from that program. They even have Windows 7 style start menus, but I haven't really mucked around with those yet.

That background without the Tux is what I've always used on a standard Debian install. It's the perfect capturing of pure organic creativity without synthetic "perfection".
