obsolete relic from a forgotten time that is singlehandedly holding keyboards back

real one, please.

>holding keyboards back?
are you a girl or why are your shoulders so narrow you can't use a normal keyboard?
>>
>weak bait that will still get a hundred replies because this board is retarded

Why yes, caps lock most certainly is all that. Thanks for sharing.
>>

Cool story tranny% fag I'm still not paying $200 for a standalone numpad.
>>
>>107373358
only trannies still use numpads

Anyone who hates numpads and calls them tranny is a self hating projecting tranny.

I don't excel or math that often, but when I do I fucking love the num pad. Even for quick math you pull up calc and pump that bitch full. Mathing feels good. What kind of person hates mathing?

I like to have mor key on my keyboard
the more key the better
I wish I could have one with everything and never use alt code anymore

There's literally no use case for a numpad unless you're an accountant
t. accountant

>>
>>107373358
If you slice your dick off, you may as well slice off your numpad to go with it.

I guess we can smoothly blend over into calling you some kind of wage-slave.
But yes, being productive in excel (or/and math) certainly is more fun with a numb pad.
Not that OP likely cares about being productive...

Keyboards are still dominant.
touchscreen is a problem.
handheld device size is a problem.

There is technology available to make these keyboards like 3x better.
>>
keyboard needs to feel comfortable for the user to press tip and tap.

combination keys are evil. ctrl + x, ctrl + v is actually terrible to learn, those commonly used shortcuts by experts if displayed on screen would be fantastic for new users. Quickly their experience would improve.
I love the clunk feeling of the keys, i know that i have hit the button without even looking at it. This is correct design. The keyboard could be on 1 touchscreen like apple phones, but I don't like this design personally.
>>
There is an advancement of tech that is only possible in windows but would unironically help apple and android more.
>>
>>107373358
You are right though, those keys are completely useless practically from a programming perspective.
Simplifying the keyboard to be universally useful instead of using hardware initiated mechanisms.

There is some keyboards which have hardware initiating keys and although those are a completely valid way to do things, they aren't developed.

Microsoft keyboard is still the most economical option for an effective input device. Along with Microsoft mouses.

Measuring all the benchmarks from durability, price, effectiveness, feel, still makes this simple tech just absolutely fantastic.

The advancement in tech for all those benchmarks comes at the expense of price, with an actual luxury keyboard which does do the improvements to the user's experience.
>>
To get the improvements from the keyboard for a luxury keyboard would require a screen for each key or a shared screen which can have a custom display, but still feel good for the user's fingers and still fluently be pressed in the keyboard. Then a reduction on the keyboard size for keys that are not commonly used will produce a much better feel at a higher price.

Using a universally good font like Berkely Mono would just be amazing, then it is possible to change fonts on the digital display of the keys, but would they last the same length in durability? If taking the touchscreen tech from iphones, then yes.
>>
A reduction of the keyboard size can be acheived by removing unneccessary keys, the numlock keys being removed would help improve user experience.

Eat shit, 62-key cvckboarder!

What do you jeets gain from posting endless ragebait threads?
I can't imagine you make money doing this, so what's the goal here?
Is it really that boring over there?
>>
>>107375834
I think there are some extremely expensive keyboards which have a screen in each key, though I don't really see the use case. I mean you're not going to be spending much time at all actually looking at your keyboard, so any benefits you could get from the screens are going to be rather fringe I think.

Buttons with screens are great but more for a macro pad kind of use case, like the Stream Deck devices or whatever. You simultaneously get a macro button but it can also display some form of state / status information (for example: the microphone mute button shows whether the mic is muted or not).

they should make it a full calculator desu.
>>
>>107375657
ive never needed to type long strings of numbers like an accountant while programming. even then, if youre not hitting math operators and enter repeatedly in between the numbers, the number row works fine once youre good at it
>>107375687
but anon shift+8 is faster

Yeah. Even if you use a numberpad a lot it's in the worst place, better getting an external one to put on the left side.
>>

Imagine begging for less keys, what an autistic retard
>>
The whole keyboard is literal 18th century typewriter design. There are better keyboards these days.
