You know, I used to think ALL ai was bad, but recently I’ve come to a different conclusion. I honestly have no issue with ai art as long as it’s watermarked/specifically disclosing that it’s fake. It can look as real as possible as long as the viewer is directly informed that it’s fake. What I have a problem with is when it’s used to portray a real thing and spread misinformation (false flags, scamming the elderly, illicit pornography, etc)
Things that are just harmless fun like meme creation, voice mods for games and lewding characters, have no problem with. The most recent Call of Duty is basically every wrong way to use ai. I do ultimately believe that ai and automation will be a net positive for mankind and I think a lot of the public’s disdain for ai is misguided and mostly because of the abuses it’s been used for like the aforementioned Black Ops 7. I’m sure by 2030 people will change their tune once the scams have been delegitimized.

If the usage is disclosed, because of Steam's rules, what's exactly wrong with it? A lot of the criticism appears to be purely luddism, the same kind of criticism people might have had for cars displacing horse carriages, photography displacing portrait painters, etc.

Only unneeded thing here is (You)r whining. The discussion was about AI artwork assets in games, those produced tools like those we use here. Thread related. The second was an observation on the weird consistency of NBP (and previous tools from Jewgle) when it comes to that detail. Silly perhaps, but still related. Probably I should have elaborated it better, but I was phoneposting while hiking and the thread was at page 8 with seemingly no one else around.
